That time of the year already!!! Dang, where is the year going to!

Well this session is from International TableTop Day and was any excuse to get together to play games.

In readiness for the day I had been busy turning a RaspberryPI in to a tweeting "what we are playing" machine thanks to the power of BGG XML and many an hour of coding (or should that be learning to code a PI), anywho... if you want to see what we get up to we'll be posting future gaming days and gaming excursions on Twitter via: @BGGmDDAY

Here's what we got up to on.... International TableTop Day!

1st game of the day and the new hotness for this gaming session.
Time to protect the village and villagers from the rampaging villains... Or not?

The first round goes by and my samurai gets over run, one fence is down, barely a scratch on the other two samurai. The villagers help to rebuild the defences back to full strength. We cannot rest easy though as round two is soon upon us.

Round two, the villains are back and mean business. My samurai is over run and a building is burned to the ground due to my fallen Samurai. We gather our thoughts and ready ourselves for the final battle.

Round three, the relentless villains are back, determined to destroy the village. We hold steady and haven't released our inner animals, surely we can hold out this last round, tired and weary, one by one our Samurai fall and around a third of the villains make there way to the village... Burning house by house as they go, a couple of cards from the end the final building is burned to the ground and the villages run, fearing their lives...
We have failed them.

2nd game of the day, time to stand up to another hoard of villains, this time in a fantasy setting... With a little help from a wizard (the Wizards Tower expansion that is):

Our first game, all seems to be going well until my 1st turn that is, I managed to pull out the Basilisk, compromising pretty much all of the rest of the game. Without the ability to swap out a card we couldn't draw the cards we needed and here came the onslaught, monster after monster came crashing in to the walls and then the towers were quick to fall... And fast thanks to poor drawing of cards and no means to stop the monsters once they were behind the walls. Not even at the end of round two and... Game over, all the towers came crashing down.

...ok, that went fast, really fast... Let's try that one again...

Game 2: Eeerrm, didn't go much better... Just like the first game, when it came to my turn, I drew an epic monster. If there was a traitor mechanism in this game I would have been suspect of being it!
We all managed to hang on in until our third turns, then one by one the monsters took down the walls. We hung on in there almost to the end of that extra turn by a thin thread and by using the push back ability. But it wasn't to be. Too many monsters with too much health to defeat them all. Our last tower came crashing down.

3rd game of the day and a change of scenery, what better view than that found on the top of K2!

Myself and Steveo-o had climbed the mountain a while back but it was Pauls first time. We decided to take the easier of the two paths during the summer months. After a short health and safety debriefing and recap, it was time to take our 2 person expedition teams up the mountain.

We all played it slow and steady to acclimatise ourselves before scaling up to the 6000m mark. The weather took a turn for the worst and just shy of 7000m we all made camp, dug in and waited for the weather to pass. The race was on during a spell of clear sunny days. One by one we made it to the top of K2 with one of our two climbers, the other half of our teams some way behind but readying to make their own push to the top.

As the weather came rolling back in, Steve-os climbers seemed to be caught of guard, his triumphant climber fell victim to mountain and his second was soon to follow.

My climbers and Pauls pushed on, prepared for a final daring dash to the top with our second climbers, both of our other climbers had seen the world from the top of K2 and we're now heading back to base. Pauls climber made it to the top and proclaimed victory, a total victory on his first attempt with both of his climbers, he cannot get no better than that!

4th game of the day, time for the hobbits to embark on their journey to destroy the ring. The path to victory is extended with the friends and foes expansion.

The hobbits; Frodo, Sam and Pippin embark on their journey, leaving Bag End and travelling through Bree, Rivendell, Moria, Lothlorien and Isengard. As the hobbits reached Helms Deep, Saurons gaze locked on to the ring bearer and captured the ring. The hobbits had failed in their quest, Sauron returned to power and the darkness fell upon Middle Earth.

5th game of the day. After the destruction of Middle Earth, it was time to destroy somewhere else... Tokyo! We included both expansions to really mix things up.

Pandakai, Kraken and The King have awoken and are heading towards Tokyo to rule, who shall take the throne and be King of Toyko?

Game 1: The King rules Tokyo after a 20 victory points win. Both the Kraken and Pandakai fought hard to take The King down but it was not to be.

Game 2: Pandakai rules Tokyo after a 20 victory points win. The King challenged hard whilst the Kraken decided to play dress up as a Pirate Ghost.

6th and final game of the day. Time to settle down for the night, brew some beer and build our personal palaces.

We didn't manage to get the full game in but Steve-o had taken the lead and transformed 3 out of the 6 lots in to his palace to win the game.
