So we're doing the 10x10 Challenge again this year, with the added challenge of starting even later than last year.

There are definitely things we'll get in 10 plays of that we did last year, but I won't include those because that feels like cheating. Plus, boring.

I've decided to join this in HARDCORE mode, even though it's mid-May and I'm about to leave town for a couple of weeks. (I can work on Friday, anyhow!) So none of these can change, and no plays already completed, even earlier today, are being counted. According to the rules, since there are no changes allowed, we are allowed to put down 11, and complete any 10.

12/31 edit: We finished, with an hour and a half left of 2015!!!! Happy New Year, everyone!

We had this game for almost a year before we got it onto the table, and now we can't get enough of it! We have discovered we were doing a couple things wrong, but hopefully we're on the right track now.

5/30: I think we had all the rules right, finally. 2P. First play with Veteran and Rescue Dog. We lost badly.
6/27: 3P with Lane and Scott J. We lost fast and thoroughly.
6/28: 2P. We killed 3 POI's so fast the first time, we set it back up to lose again!
7/3: 3p with Maui. Took out roles and hot spots, and used the easier side of the board, for my sister's sake. Our last two victims were nearly to the doors when the building collapsed and we lost.
7/5: 3p with Maui. Tried new strategy of having two people concentrate on fire. Still lost.
11/28: Two games of FP:Second Story and one of vanilla FP. 3p with Scott. We won all 3. Our second play was even a perfect game. I truly appreciate the CAFS Firefighter, but the Structural Engineer stopped us losing that first game after we got down to zero cubes!
12/29: 3p with Scott. We played the Dangerous Waters submarine board and LOST! It was fun, though, and I look forward to wrestling with it some more next year.

It seems hokey to put a game you can buy at Target on here, but it was, after all, the second ever Spiel des Jahres winner! This is our new game with the in-laws, and I really like it.

7/12: Got in one game with the in-laws today. It was a short game this time. I won.
7/26: Three games with the in-laws. I won the first.

8/16: 3 games with Claudia and Ira. Lane won two; I won one.
8/30: 3 games with the in-laws. Ira won twice, I won once.

We discovered the joy of the 'Gric last summer, and got in 8 plays last year. We actually haven't thought to play it yet this year, so I think we should remedy that.

7/25: First play since October, I think. We were a little rusty, and the tiny number of turns you get was even more stressful than usual, but we still loved it.
7/26: We tried the Complex Deck for the first time, and it was nice to have a bit of a change. Great game!
7/29: Brutal game. It started out rough, and got a little better, but the score was still low at 37-27.
7/31: Two games. Our first plays with the Interactive deck. Second game was particularly stressful, foodwise.
10/18: I lost. I'm in shock. Lane managed to shut me almost entirely out of the wood supply. It was brutal.
12/17: A little post-Star Wars farming. I had the lowest score I've ever gotten, but managed to barely win. I guess we were tired.
12/19: 2 games. Both close. In the second game, I was apparently an aristocratic family. Five stone rooms with five family members. I had animals, but literally never planted a single vegetable or grain.
12/27: Final play of the year! I got some good cards that allowed me to have tons of food on hand and also let me plow a ton of extra plots. With one more turn, it could have been an amazing score, but I still did pretty well.

Ok, I can't put vanilla Carc or Carc: The Castle on here, because I've done those. But I can put this new one on there. I do love that each new Carc, while essentially shooting nerds in a barrel to get our money, is a little different, to keep the mechanics fresh and offer a little variety to your tile-laying pleasures.

7/2: 2P at home. I barely saved myself from a loss of 15 points by not noticing the last uncapped side of a huge frankenmountain until way late, but I pulled it off. Lane drew like 6 herds for his prairie, though, so I still lost big.
8/9: Two 2p games with Lane. He beat me both times. The second time, though, I built a weird gerrymandered farm that had three internally contained railroad lines to nowhere because I couldn't let them break up my farm. Hilarious.
10/11: 26 point prairie sealed the deal on a solid win for me. The game started slowly, but got interesting there towards the end.
10/17: It's been a couple days and now neither of us remembers who won. We were super tired!
10/20: Pretty much tied most of the game, and then our prairies were about even, but Lane killed me on gold nuggets.
12/4: 2 plays with Lane. We finally got the Sheriff this week, so we used that. I love the graveyards, which act like monasteries.
12/8: I had to race to get a majority on the prairie, after Lane sneakily encroached upon it late in the game. This resulted in a 32-point prairie domination for me, which won me the game.
12/13: One game, Lane lapped me by 100 points!

We weren't entirely wild about this game the first couple of times we played it, but with the Harbor expansion, we feel it's a much better game. I'm looking forward to the Millionaire's Row expansion, too.

8/29: 4p with Lane, Kat, and Eric. Harbor expansion. Lane won with a set of fishin' boats.
12/6: Two 4p games with Lane, Gilbert and Eileen. Eileen won the first. I got really lucky and snatched victory from Lane's grasp one turn before he would have won.

We're still collecting this one, but we love to play with what we have.

12/7: We hadn't played this since the Spring, so we pretty much had to relearn it. Lane built an Avengers squad powered by Nick Fury, except that I snagged Black Widow. I built a motley crew, starring Deadpool, of course. Let the Avengers feast on chimichanga!
12/10: 4 games. I tried very hard to field an all-villain team, but all the villains besides Green Goblin are to expensive to even get into the bag. I did manage to win one game with Green Goblin and Sidekicks, and some well-used Basic Actions.
12/11: 3 games. The unlikely trio of Black Widow, Green Goblin, and Gambit won me one of them. Another, however, I lost having only inflicted one point of damage on Lane.
12/12: 2 games. I won the first game in two big battles. Lane got me on the second one.

This elegant little 2P number hit the table 6 times last year. I think we can do better.

5/30: Super close game. 38-37. I won by one VP I noticed last minute on a card in my display.
11/29: Two games, of which we each won one. Every time I come back to this game after a lengthy hiatus, I'm surprised anew at how much meat is packed into such a small game.
12/2: It's all fun and games until someone finishes his tableau and ends the game early. My plans were all for naught!
12/26: 2 games, both of which Lane won. I'm working on balancing my strategy between filling my display and saving space for the higher value cards.
12/27: 2 games again tonight, this time using the Adventskalendar promos. I think they will add quite a bit to the game once we get used to having them. We kept forgetting to use them.
12/31: Our final two challenge plays! In the first game, I won with a personal best of 55. Lane won the second game quite handily.

We have several flavors of Timeline. Sometimes we mix them, sometimes we play just one set at a time. We count going through the whole deck, however big that might be, as one play.

5/30: 2P. Played through the whole Diversity deck and tied 5-5.
7/23: 2p with Mom. I won, but she led me a merry chase. Played through the American History deck.
7/30: 3P with Mama and Lane. Lane smoked us 4/4 hands. Americana deck.
8/1: 2p American History deck with Lane. Rare victory for me.
8/5: 2p Historical Events deck with Mom. Discussions of Cards and internet searches about things we were curious about made it a 2-hour game.
10/30: 2 P with Lane. American History deck. 5-4. We've developed a theory that when you don't know a Wild West one, just stick it in the 1880s, and you're probably safe.
12/5: 3p with Lane and Gilbert. Inventions deck, which we just got, and which is really tough!
12/14: One play through the American History deck, and one through Inventions. We had a goodly stack of discards at the end of Inventions!
12/19: Americana deck. We tied 3 eiynds each, and went to sudden death over the opening of the Lincoln Memorial, which Lane won.

Last year, we played Ubongo Duel for the challenge. I've acquired nearly every flavor of Ubongo in the last year, most recently Trigo. I love these games.

8/9: I usually do well with Ubongo, but Lane had a perfect game, and I only got one. Clearly, I need practice.
11/28: NINE GAMES, 3p with Scott, who is determined that we finish our challenge. He also won 8 of those games and tied with Lane for one more.

Recently, rahdo ran through this one, and reminded me that it's been hiding behind some other small games on my shelf, patiently waiting for me to sail by so it could flag me down.

5/23: Two plays. Lost one at the beginning of Phase 2 and the other at the beginning of Phase 3. Progress!
5/25: Won! Lucky timing got rid of most Aging cards right away, then one pirate was based on Aging.
6/04: Playing on an island in the West Indies. +1 for theme! Lost on second turn of Phase 3.
6/09: I almost thought I had this one. Got through the three phases, got through the first pirate, and then my second pirate was the one based on how many unbeaten hazards cards I had. This was kind of a lot, and I thought certainly I'd lose. Then I pulled out my Phase -1 card, and thought maybe that meant I could calculate the pirate strength on the yellow values, rather than the red. Alas, I went to the Forums afterwards, and someone had already answered that very question in the negative. So I got killed dead.
10/24: So close. I had my 2nd pirate at 31/35, but I ran out of Life to pick up those last couple cards. Went through all but one card of my aging deck, which I hadn't done before. There's always a new way to die!
11/11: I did a marathon session of four games to finish this goal, because I want to put the game in the flea market at a con this weekend. I was pretty lucky, and then on my last game, my ONLY Aging card was Stop, and it got me right at the beginning of the first pirate. It's a good game, but I've done ten plays, and I'm not crazy about playing solo, so it's time to move on.

We got this out last month when we had company and discovered it doesn't support 4P. It's only 2-3P. This is fine, because the rahdo runthrough indicates that it works well with 2, and we're always looking for games that genuinely work well for just the 2 of us.

8/9: This game has finally hit the table, after a year and a half unplayed! Two plays tonight. Once we read the rules, it was easy to play, and we got a lot out of it. I won the first, then Lane got more aggressive and kept me from the big combos the second game, and earned a victory.
11/21: 5-game marathon session because Ciffy decided I'm not allowed to give up on my challenge. We enjoyed it immensely, even though I lost 4 of those games!
12/29: Our first 3p play. It went a lot faster with three. The n00b ran away with by doing a ton of pardoning, not always waiting for a good stack of sin before doing so.
12/30: 2p with Lane. Our final 2 plays of this one for the year! We each won one.
