Players: Myself, Louise & First Timer Laura. Still new to WABA so started with a game we knew we could explain :-) My efforts to soften up my opponents with raspberry liquorice and freddos didn't work....lots of track blocking resulting in a win for Louise (133), myself in second (109) and Laura in third (85)

Four games played with Louise & Laura. A quick game of paper, scissors rock to decide who starts- Me! A game I can actually win at! However the good start was short lived. Overall 2 wins to Laura, 1 for Louise and 1 for myself.
Had one last game, joined by Warren & Kent with Louise taking that one.

Anyone else have a problem with the counters wanting to be on the floor!?! It seemed everyone was dropping them....

Everyones favourite Bean farming game! Played with Laura, Louise, Warren & Kent. Again the sweet treats didn't help me....after some exciting bean trades Louise made the most coin and was our winner.

This was one of the last games of the night, as well as Stuart's last game at WABA.

The matchup was my Plant-Ants vs Stuart's Kitty Wizards!

I took an early lead, managing to score a base by myself with some Ant trickery, as well as some bad draws on Stuart's end. I seemed on track to continue dominating, but was thwarted by some pretty good plays just as a base would score, knocking me back down to second every time.

At 14-each I had almost locked down the final base, but was again frustrated at the last second by an Invisible Bicycle, bringing the score to an impressive 18-each.

Normally play would continue, but Mark was rushing us out the door (Boo! Hiss!) so we left it at that.

I participated in the Love Letter tournament run by Warren.

Three tables with four players each. Each round's winner moved to the next table. First to five wins wins.

Managed to come in second to Elaine - Dang it!

Next up I ran Pretense with 12 participants.

A meta-game that runs through the entire game day.

It successfully created a lot of tension and paranoia, but on the whole, I think it probably works better confined to one group or if the participants were all limited to just playing together...

I'll have a think on it and maybe run a version of it at a future event. Maybe Decembacon?

Warren very deservedly won, using Mark's bluff against him and then getting a high five from Aidan when I announced his win for a one-two-elimination. He ended the game on Three points.

There was a lot of table changing, so I doubt I'll remember who I played with, or who won most of the time, so please just add a comment if you remember better than I do.

For the first 'real' game I taught Ankh-Morpork to Leah and Shay (and Kent had already played, I think?).

It's a slightly chaotic, sometimes random, area control game with a fair amount of take-that.

This was the first time I ever played the game and had it come down to a final scoring, which Shay won by a mile.

Interestingly Leah had the goal to get a lot of money, and had not trouble getting control of areas on the board, and I had the opposite problem and goal.

Warren, Shay, Leah and I next played Witness, which I think is one of the best games of last year.

Our cases were both tough. The first involved characters named Tiny, Little and Small, and I certainly had a hard time keeping the names straight.

The next one was about a sequence of caves and tunnels. We did better on this case, but I know there was a bit of information that changed pretty drastically by the time it got around to me.

Last Thronlie we played Stockpile, which is a fun filler, but it really put me in the mood for this game, and I failed to find it int he WABA collection, so I brought it along for this meet.

It's so long ago now, but I THINK Mal bust, and Ian won?

Mal and I had been promising to teach Mark this game for months now, and, along with Pete, we finally made it happen.

Mal miscounted the points on the first coup, thinking he had won, but it had a result he liked even more - Screwing me up completely. I lost my hacendado early, taking my income and making it a real struggle for the rest of the game,

Mal managed the win on the next coup though.

I had read the rules, but forgotten a lot of them by the time we sat down to try out this new game from Kickstarter, but the players indulged me going through the rulebook and it went fairly smoothly.

It was a fun game that I look forward to playing some more - It's fairly light, but it's also very quick - A nice depth-to-time ratio.

There was a slight concern about how many points the majority bonuses award at the end, and yet it still ended up quite close.

I won.

After not playing this game in quite some time, Mal recently asked to be taught it, and we played at a non-Waba game day.

It reminded me how great this game is, so I brought it along, and taught it for our final game of the night.

Sadly, I am not even sure who played, let alone who won. Except that it wasn't me.

Was it Shay, maybe?

Played three games of this after realising that one game of zooloretto dice wasn't going to fill the hour leading up to the love letter tournament... We played two games with three players (Stuart, kent and Myself) and one game with four players(Leah joined us). I believe we had one of the worst scoring games of all time. Stuart won with 60+ points in that round...

18. Board Game: Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game [Average Rating:7.74 Overall Rank:65] [Average Rating:7.74 Unranked]
After the love letter tournament Adrian, Mike, Stuart, Jacob and myself played two games of this. We were brutalised as a team in the first game (which may or may not of been the beginners easy short scenario...) and during this time Adrian was knocked out of pretense for high fiving Warren. (which was hilarious and perfectly timed)

We then proceeded to play a second game however on a more difficult scenario which we actually successfully completed. The fact that we played it a second time knocked me out of pretense which brought my levels of paranoia down substantially.

We played this right after dinner (Adrian, Mike, Jacob, Stuart and myself)

It was excellent as always. I feel that using lies to smuggle in extra non-contraband goods is not an effective strategy in this game, but I tried it anyway. From memory Mike and Jacob were the most effective smugglers.

21. Board Game: Cosmic Encounter [Average Rating:7.58 Overall Rank:103]
Brutal, brutal, head hurty game of cosmic encounter. There were five of us (Adrian, Mike, Mark, Stuart and Myself). We had all played before which meant (somehow) that we were using green red and yellow factions... which lead to nearly everyone picking a red level race and a lot of intense, screw everyone over, makes no sense ("Adrian 5 extra races Pavone"). Also, Mike's Butler power was both annoying and fantastically executed.

Also, joint win between Mark and Mike. There was no stopping it...

After Kanban Mal, Pete and myself were joined by Mark to play this tableau / hand management card game.

The trick is you need to make the most effective paths through your tableau in different colours while retaining enough of the same colours in your hand to allow you to score the path at game end. Only the player(s) with the highest total score for each colour in hand can score any points for that colour in their tableau.

I really enjoy this, I think three might be the sweet spot for player count.

I think Mark won?
