At the beginning of the year, I set up for myself a 10x10 challenge. However, I lost my list, and moreover, some of the games that I had meant to play, I have since traded away. Therefore, I have started this GeekList to help me keep track of the games and the plays.

This will be the first of two solo games on my list. I have played this twice since I got it, but I have yet to completely finish a game. But I want to better understand the strategies for winning this game. It is not easy.

#1 6/3--
I finally completed my first game of Friday. Score: 74
I was worried that I would not win, as it was my first complete game. However, I figured out (from reading the rules the other day) how to get rid of unwanted cards from the deck. I focused on getting +x life and fighting points when going through the hazards. "Phase -1" is also one of my favorite cards.

#2 6/15--shake
So, I finally made time for game two, and it got revenge. My strategy was going very well, and I was on my second pirate...I was allowed 10 cards for free...and my fourth card was the Stop aging card...only having 4 hp, I threw in the towel and hung my head in shame. I will try my hand at it again later tonight.

#3-#6
I've played at least 4 more times over the past few days, and I have found other strategies lacking. I went back to my original strategy of getting the worthless cards out of my deck ASAP. I also found a good analysis/tips in the linked forums that helped streamline my gameplay...the result: *New High Score 93*

This is the second of my solo games. I love Onirim, but I have not played with all of the new expansions. It only took me a couple of plays to win, but now the challenge is in understanding how the expansions mix and match. Already a favorite of mine, but I need to find more time to play it.

This is one of my newer acquisitions. I need to play it to see how much I will actually like it.

#1 5/31--
This game is definitely not bad. Final score was 18,19, and 20. That made me feel good because there was no runaway winner. I also saw how a real variety of strategies can work for this game.

This game sounds very interesting to me--a perfect knowledge deterministic game. There are few games like this, and I am really hoping that it plays as strategically as it sounds.

#1 5/31--yuk

Need to review the rules, and will probably need to establish houserules. Almost rage-quit because I hadn't built up military, and I was being "clubbed like a baby seal" which allowed my opponent extra actions because he had the Temple to Ares. And everytime I collected the resources to build my army, he would attack me and take all of my resources. This is simply WRONG! I will be looking over forums to see what others have said...At this point, I will probably be willing to sell or trade, but Buyer Beware!

I just recieved this game from Kickstarter. The first play through went well, but will it stand the test of time?

This has been an interesting deckbuilder that I have not fully explored. I hope to try this with a range of individuals. My daughters enjoy it so far.

#1 6/10--

I love the concept of this game, but playing with my daughters (8 and 11) can be a hassle. They argued about who would randomly pick the theme, and we constantly jokingly break the rules--but playing the joke out too long for comfort. I originally wanted to play Parfum, during the game they often suggested playing Dixit next time...I think that sums it up, just right.

This classic worker-placement is a challenge to get to the table. Therefore, I am wondering: Do I really need to hang onto it? Let's let the gameplay be the judge.

I like this game, but will I love it? I need to spend more time with this one before I decide.

#1 6/7--
I am somehow blind to good engine building strategies. While I like the game, I get frustrated seeing everyone else run away with high scores while I am struggling to build up a solid engine. Lesson #1: Ignore the nobles. Lesson #2 reserve liberally. #3 go for the big point items...we'll see if that works next time...

#2-#5 7/4-7/6
I've been playing with family. After losing the first 3 of these games, I finally won with a focused strategy. My youngest daughter has a fairly effective hoarding strategy, which I find highly frustrating. However, I may have found a way around it.

Yes, I love it. I just want to remind myself to play it more.

#1 6/7--

This game is just awesome. Got second place, and I am happy with that. The winner uses a not betting strategy. I might have to try that next time.

When my daughter and I first played this game, she loved it. But we have only played it twice in three years. The rules are a bit fiddly, so do we really want it to collect dust? Or should we try to really consider what we think about this game?
