This is a list of upcoming anticipated board games to be launched for Kickstarter. Please help this list by adding a game with a launch date (or estimated), as it's difficult to know everything coming up in the pipeline. If you have any pertinent information regarding a games Kickstarter launch or development, feel free to comment with that as well.

Please use the standard format (with geeklinks) for items added to the list, and then any other info OR pictures may be added as a comment below! It helps significantly to keep this list organized with a standard format and not to include anything extra in the geeklist item header itself. Any geeklist item not following this format is subject to deletion.

Description

PUBLISHERS: Hopefully this will be a great list for you to generate some traffic to your project before it launches. I'll do my best to keep arranging these in order by estimated release date as games are added.

Once a game has been launched on Kickstarter, I will remove the game, as there are plenty of devoted lists and posts for active Kickstarter projects. This is a list for only upcoming and unlaunched projects. Please feel free to geekmail me if you have any questions.

Thanks for subscribing and enjoy!

*disclaimer: This list is not anything definitive to a project launching on the estimated date, or time, or even launching period, as project creators/publishers may change plans without notice.

Brought to up by Mindclash Games of Trickerion and Anachrony fame.

That cover alone makes me swoon, particularly since these guys choose fantastic themes. I have every confidence this is going to be one of the most stunningly beautiful games out there.

Haven't seen any hard info but the game page refers to cooperative adventure with modular board.

Kickstarting late 2018... exact date to be announced

Designers: Nuno Bizarro Sentieiro, Paulo Soledade
Artist: Mariano Iannelli
Publisher: What's Your Game?

Players: 2-4
Play Time: 90 minutes

Description: Brasil is a game about gold-mining in 18th-century Brazil when Bandeirantes (explorers) started to travel through the country and discovered a new region of "black gold" along the way. The "sugar rush" was coming to an end in the northeast part of the country and near the city-to-be of Vila Rica, a whole new region of precious metal was suddenly one of the most important suppliers of the old world. Hundreds of thousands of men came from everywhere once word spread, and a number of small but relevant locations started to grow near Vila Rica.

Most of the wealth in Europe had its origins in the colonies of that time. Brazil, for example, was the number one provider of gold, and Portugal lived a prosperous long time from it. Some people maintain that the industrial revolution was in part financed by the metal that came from Brazil.

The game of Brasil is played with cards. More than a simple game about mining, it requires that players combine actions to develop the region by building essential infrastructures like houses, stores, farms, churches and roads. Players build their path to wealth by keeping in mind the changing characteristics of the region, the moves and needs of other players, and the common good of the vibrant and prosperous Vila Rica.

Launch Estimation: Fall 2019/Early 2020

Designer: Cody Miller
Artist: Lina Cossette, David Forest
Publisher: Far Off Games

Players: 2-4 players
Play Time: 60-120 minutes

Description

A Green Legacy Game, Arydia is an open world, campaign based, cooperative fantasy role playing board game. The game of Arydia is built on four design pillars: Exploration, Progression, Combat, and Roleplaying.

Exploration
Arydia is an open world to explore as you wish. Make your way across the world map, discovering new locations, interacting with memorable characters, fighting vicious monsters, and scavenging long-lost treasures. The world pulls you in through detailed descriptions and vivid artwork for each place you visit. Every location is unique, not randomized, and is built piece by piece as you explore.

Progression
Arydia is played as a campaign, over the course of a number of game sessions; you start each session right where you left off! As you play, the game keeps track of your actions and decisions. Your characters will grow in power, collecting new items, weapons, and skills. NPCs and locations will change, depending on how you interact with them. All of this progression is done using a simple, but powerful, index system, which allows for quick and easy setup and tear down.

Combat
Many of the locations you’ll visit in Arydia are hostile - and you’ll need your weapons, skills, and cooperation to overcome the challenges you encounter! Arydia features a tactical, cooperative combat system. Enemies are controlled by game cards and dice, while you and your companions work together to defeat them.

Roleplaying
Take on the roles of a wide cast of characters as you encounter them throughout your journeys. Step into the shoes of a disgruntled shop owner, sniffling brat, or a poorly-dressed bandit leader. The incentive-based role play system encourages you to engage in dramatic storytelling, without being intrusive.

A Green Legacy Game
At Far Off Games, we love Legacy games, but we felt that their disposable nature didn't fit within our company culture. We came up with the Green Legacy Game idea. A Green Legacy Game features all the hallmarks of a Legacy game: opening packages, hidden information, progression, discovery, exploration, all the while wrapping it in high-quality components and allowing you to completely reset the game when you have completed it.

*Cody and team runs great campaign and if Xia: Legends of a Drift System is an indication of what their offering can be like, I am quite excited of what comes next. Especially since this appeals to my love for fantasy adventure.
Also intrigued by the green legacy aspect.

*Game is currently in heavy development / playtesting

* At first glance, this might look like a project that is trying to do something similar just like the Gloomhaven universe. First the adventure and then launching the prequel.
However, the design process and train of thoughts shared in the thread shows otherwise. Do give the thread a read when you have time

Kickstarting Date: mid-July 2019

Designer: Evan Halbert & Ryan Mauk
Artist: N/A
Publisher: Grey Fox Games

Players: 2-4
Play Time: (60-120) 30 min/ player

Description from BGG: After the fall of Rome, Europe fell into the so-called "dark ages." From the chaos, feudalism arose providing stability to the region over the coming centuries. By the High Middle Ages, the region was prosperous despite much fighting. From your walled city, you are a medieval liege ruling the surrounding lands, settlements, and holdings granted by birthright. This is your fiefdom, and all within it owe fealty and allegiance to you above all others. Each other lord and lady rules a neighboring fiefdom and competes for resources in the unclaimed yet bountiful lands of the countryside between them. Tensions were high and petty feuds common between you and your neighbors until scouts reported a new and deadly threat. Invaders have swept in from the east! Their sizable army is camped on the edges of your realm, and this new common enemy endangers the entire land. Refugees from the fallen eastern lands seek shelter and bring tales of destruction. Old rivalries must be put aside to focus on the onslaught to come and remain unbroken.

After The Empire is a worker placement/resource management game set in the middle ages. During each turn, known as a season, players alternate using worker tokens (peons) to take actions, such as gathering resources, building advanced buildings and recruiting refugees from either the shared game board or their personal fiefdom. Once all peons have been committed, players harvest food from their surrounding lands and then prepare for combat.

During each season's combat a minimum of three invader cards are revealed, with a randomized number of troops and compass direction of attack. Only the wealthiest of castles will draw the attention of larger forces and their siege weapons. You must repair your city and recruit and arm your troops quickly to stand any chance. The normal game ends after eight turns, but can scale up to 16 turns for the epic experience. The winner is declared by who has preserved their fiefdom and saved up the most gold.

Your life, your wealth, your fiefdom, and your legacy must be protected at all costs!

Players
1-4

Solo campaigns and gameplay : a player is free to play any of the three available solo compaigns, or set a game for himself. Freedom and versatility is what we were after when creating Heroes and Gods.

Co-op play :the difficulty of the game depends on how many players are present at the table

Trading and auctions :weapons, armors, spellscrolls, potions, skills or even the captured souls of the monsters may be traded

Elimination :happens around 80% of the game and it is mainly player controlled. There is no deed left unpunished. The game will challenge your intellect up to a point where you will realize you need allies more than you need enemies.

In game Quests : a way to get powerful rewards which will improve your hero

Aenigmas : special quests designed to challenge the players. Along with great risks, there are great rewards.

Interaction with the Gods : There are several types of Gods, some benevolent, some tricky and some simply enraged by your actions. They will try to kill you, so beware!

Play Time
10-60 minutes (duration extends beyond 60 minutes if there are more players involved)

Description

Heroes & Gods is a fantasy RPG game based on PvPvE mechanics which opens the door for strategic partnerships during the gameplay, creating unexpected situations where interaction between players is both key and strategy.
The player takes control of a Hero belonging to one of the four major races (Basharii, Elysar, Takan or Aedolas) as the adventure commences.

High replay value and custom builds : The entire game is built on concepts such as freedom of choice, versatility while strategizing and social interaction.
You build your Hero the way it suits you best. Use custom skills, cast one-of-a-kind magic spells, arm yourself with ancient or legendary weapons and armors, use unique magical potions or forgotten scrolls,
take companions to help you defeat your foes. The competitive spirit is re-triggered each time you start a new H&G session as the Heroes may be different for your will choose a different strategy in accordance to the gameplay that is unique with each game start.
Each time you start there will be a new path to follow, a new strategy to apply, a new hero that you can build.

Social component and diplomacy : Demand actions from other players, ask for items or simply take control of the game and dictate moves if you get yourself into the power position,
but be careful how you do it... Your reputation is going to make you or break you! Aside from the basic set of rules, the game gives you the freedom to decide what to do, who to attack,
what loot you want to take for yourself, which rewards you want to share with your allies, who is going to fight the epic monsters at your side and more. Whether you want to attack a legendary creature,
start an in-game quest, trade or fight for map shards to solve Enigmas you will almost always need allies. Diplomacy plays a key role in the development of the game.

URGH NASIR trader and free trade : The game is designed to offer as much freedom as possible and great rewards to those who emerge victorious from battles. Each defeated monster can be captured.
The soul dealer in Urgh will purchase the captured monsters and in return he will upgrade your items and skills. Any item can be freely traded between players.
Each player can initiate a trade session before starting their turn. In addition to this each 7th turn brings with it an auction market which contains a gambling area where you could win great rewards paying small sums.

During the game, the Heroes will go up against unique monsters, solve Aenigmas to reach epic locations guarded by legendary keepers, complete quests to receive unique items,
call upon forgotten Gods asking for their favors in battle, explore unique sites filled with otherworldly creatures. As the game evolves the Heroes will improve their backpacks with spell scrolls,
potions, skills, weapons and armors with unique abilities while fighting all together, in separate teams or each for his own. At the end, the surviving Heroes will battle once more and they will have to defeat Darva,
the keeper of the souls in order to ascend and become Gods themselves.

The game itself offers an unlimited number of strategies you can apply in your gameplay. It can be played co-op until the end or you could focus on eliminating your opponents one by one.

The strategy, the commitment and the cadence of your actions are more important than the scope itself. Everything was done with the sole purpose of having fun and challenging the wits of the players

Kickstarting 3Q2019

Designer: J.B. Howell
Artist: N/A
Publisher: Kolossal Games

Players: 1-5
Play Time: 60-120 mins

Description from Publisher:
Hordes of goblins and other terrifying beasts of the land are attempting to lay waste to the city. The various militia inside are mounting a defense in attempt to make one final stand to save the land that they love.

In No Dawn, each player assumes to role of one of these militia, defending the city from the relentless onslaught of goblins, ogres, hill giants, and other creatures who are bent on destroying the final stronghold for mankind. No Dawn is a scenario-driven cooperative game that introduces unique twists to the common mechanisms of worker placement and deck building. Players can partner up on worker spaces to assist in tasks such as recruiting others in the city to the fight, repairing damaged supply lines, and gathering food.

No Dawn introduces a unique threat level mechanism that increases the difficulty of the game as it progresses. This mechanism forces players to make tough decisions about how fast they want to complete their scenario objectives. Complete the scenario too soon, and players may lose cards that could prove valuable assets for future scenarios.

Kickstarting Date relaunch TBA

Designer: Alban Viard
Artist: Paul Laane, Sampo Sikiö
Publisher: AVStudioGames

Players: 1-4
Play Time: 20-60 min

Description
:
In the 2000s, each player is one of the VIPs of Small City. Each one hides behind a pseudonym of a Roman emperor, based on the special ability that player chose at the beginning of the game.
The goal of the game is to racketeer the Commerces, to rob the Residences, and to hire new thugs in the Industries.
Each turn, you move your Roman empire figure, and can either destroy or burgle a building. Thus you gain more and more influence in the districts….
The player who builds up the most influence in Small City will be the winner.
The city is represented on a hex hex grid, and its size depends on the number of players.
There are two ways to play this new politically incorrect game in the Small City universe.
A book should be included in the box. It is a hard-boiled novel that deals with the story of the same 6 emperors, which takes place after the story of the board game.
A new concept to expand the board game…

Edit: date updated as AVStudio Twitter announcement
Edit: KS relaunch expected at a later date

Description :

Sat-feed chatter from low-orb bio-cols call it the Bruise.
A swirling endless hurricane-vortex of black-crowed tox-sleet and electro-static chaos.
Deep-space cargo lines passing the outer belts, call it simply, the dead eye.

The Dead Eye
is a survival adventure card game. The player assumes the role of a pilgrim, battling across an inhospitable planet, salvaging parts, in a quest to reach the heart of a great tox storm.

Game-play involves a drawing cards from a a single deck.
The player must either choose to encounter the situation shown on the drawn card ( if not already facing a situation ) or use the card as a juice or heat resource, placing the resource in its respective stack on either side of the situation card-slot.
When the number of resources in a stack match the trigger shown on the current situation, the card resolves for a good or bad game effect. All resources that triggered the card are then discarded or postponed and returned to the bottom of the draw deck.

When the draw deck is depleted, the discard pile is shuffled to form a new draw deck.
The game begins with 5 Hope and 5 Doom cards in two face-down decks. Should a card effect require that either of these cards be added to the discard pile and the player is unable to do so, the game is lost.

The object of the game is to complete a chapter of the story before losing the game.

The Dead Eye includes 54 unique cards, 3D-anaglyph paper goggles, player mat and rulebook.

Publisher: Strategos Games

Players: 2-4 players
Play time: 30min /player

Description:

Who has not dreamed of becoming a knight?

In Glory: A Game of Knights, you are a young knight, whose sole goal is to become famous. You will earn your fame through tournaments, noble titles or minstrels singing about your deeds. Each turn, you spend your precious time doing actions like training, gathering allies, praying or selling your sword. You will also fight for ransom or visit your beloved lady. Prepare yourself for being a champion able to challenge other players as well as the most famous nobles across the Europe of 15th century.

Glory is a game designed by two medieval reenactors, who want to tell you a story of a knight's life in the language of a board game. The key design concepts are:
- two main modes for a different experience and player types - with or without pvp combat
- worker-placement-like preparation phase,
- quest phase based on gathered quest cards,
- tournaments as the main source of victory points,
- duels as a fast mini-game
- titles to gather as a secondary source of victory points - public and private - changing with every game.

Kickstarting Date: October 2019

Designer: Isaac Childres, Rob Daviau, JR Honeycutt, Justin D. Jacobson
Artist: N/A
Publisher: Restoration Games

Players:
1-4 players
Play Time: 60 - 120 minutes

Description

For an age, the tower lay in ruins. Unbeknownst to the people of the realm, a great evil stirred in its bowels. It started with strange sightings: a flock of crows flying in circles until they dropped from the sky, the lake frozen solid in the height of summer. In time, they could not deny that which they most feared.

The evil had not been vanquished. The darkness would soon fall again. The tower will rise.

A "sequel" to the 1981 grail game, Return to Dark Tower is a cooperative game for 1-4 players who take the role of heroes. Together, they gather resources, raise buildings, defeat monsters, and undertake quests to build up their strength and discern what foe ultimately awaits them. When the heroes face the tower, the game shifts into its dramatic second act, where the players have one chance to defeat the enemy once and for all.

The game features traditional game mechanisms, such as engine building and resource management, paired with a technological interface unlike any seen before in games, including the titular tower, which holds more than a few secrets.

Shovel Knight Dungeon Duels

Kickstarting Date: Summer 2019

Designer: N/A
Artist: N/A
Publisher: Panda Cult Games

Players: 1-4 Players
Play Time: N/A

Description
Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels is a competitive, side-scrolling, miniatures board game for 1-4 players based on the popular video game from Yacht Club Games. Each player will play as a different colored Shovel Knight, moving through a side-scrolling dungeon, jumping over pits, collecting treasure, and fighting baddies by rolling Shovel Dice! While players may not directly damage each other, they may push each other around into deadly foes, spiked pits, and other obstacles. When a Knight is defeated, they drop half of their treasure onto the board, allowing other Knights to come steal it. No worries though, because in Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels all Knights have infinite lives and will respawn. The Knight with the most treasure at the end of the dungeon wins!

Artist: Paul Bonner, Alvaro Tapia, Gio Guimarães, and Henning Ludvigsen
Graphic Design: Fabio de Castro and Júlia Ferrari
Publisher: CMON Limited

Players: ?
Play Time: ?

Description:
... storytelling based on the successfully crowdfunded Swedish RPG: Trudvang Chronicles. Steeped in epic Nordic and Celtic myths and sagas, players will take the roles of legendary heroes who make their mark on a dynamic, everchanging fantasy world.

...Trudvang Legends thrusts players into a cycle of epic sagas, where their achievements will change not only the world itself, but the very rules by which gods, peoples and nature interact. They will quest through an interwoven series of Adventure Books, and the results of their choices will echo through history: changing the relationships between sovereign nations, usurping kings, creating new waygates, or even locking and unlocking parts of the map.

Change in Trudvang Legends manifests physically, as parts of the actually change, making the actions of previous hero generations affect future sagas. However, the changes are only as permanent as long as history remembers them, which makes the game endlessly replayable, and even playing the same Adventure Book repeatedly will have a completely different feeling, because the world itself has changed. Heroes, following a path of destiny, will even become historical fixtures as they become Kings, Guildmasters or even Gods!
