This is a list of upcoming anticipated board games to be launched for Kickstarter. Please help this list by adding a game with a launch date (or estimated), as it's difficult to know everything coming up in the pipeline. If you have any pertinent information regarding a games Kickstarter launch or development, feel free to comment with that as well.

Please use the standard format (with geeklinks) for items added to the list, and then any other info OR pictures may be added as a comment below! It helps significantly to keep this list organized with a standard format and not to include anything extra in the geeklist item header itself. Any geeklist item not following this format is subject to deletion.

Description

PUBLISHERS: Hopefully this will be a great list for you to generate some traffic to your project before it launches. I'll do my best to keep arranging these in order by estimated release date as games are added.

Once a game has been launched on Kickstarter, It will be removed a few days after launch (3-7 days), as there are plenty of devoted lists and posts for active Kickstarter projects. Due to life demands right now of opening Hitherto Coffee & Gaming Parlour, I am MIA on BGG activity and usually only updating this list monthly. After things calm down I hope to get back to the list more regularly. Special thanks to those whom are managing their additions and marking games as launched and completed to help keep the list cleaned up.

This is a list for only upcoming and unlaunched projects. Please feel free to geekmail me if you have any questions.

Thanks for subscribing and enjoy!

*disclaimer: This list is not anything definitive to a project launching on the estimated date, or time, or even launching period, as project creators/publishers may change plans without notice.

Brought to up by Mindclash Games of Trickerion and Anachrony fame.

That cover alone makes me swoon, particularly since these guys choose fantastic themes. I have every confidence this is going to be one of the most stunningly beautiful games out there.

Haven't seen any hard info but the game page refers to cooperative adventure with modular board.

Publisher: Far Off Games

Players: 2-4 players
Play Time: 60-120 minutes

Description

A Green Legacy Game, Arydia is an open world, campaign based, cooperative fantasy role playing board game. The game of Arydia is built on four design pillars: Exploration, Progression, Combat, and Roleplaying.

Exploration
Arydia is an open world to explore as you wish. Make your way across the world map, discovering new locations, interacting with memorable characters, fighting vicious monsters, and scavenging long-lost treasures. The world pulls you in through detailed descriptions and vivid artwork for each place you visit. Every location is unique, not randomized, and is built piece by piece as you explore.

Progression
Arydia is played as a campaign, over the course of a number of game sessions; you start each session right where you left off! As you play, the game keeps track of your actions and decisions. Your characters will grow in power, collecting new items, weapons, and skills. NPCs and locations will change, depending on how you interact with them. All of this progression is done using a simple, but powerful, index system, which allows for quick and easy setup and tear down.

Combat
Many of the locations you’ll visit in Arydia are hostile - and you’ll need your weapons, skills, and cooperation to overcome the challenges you encounter! Arydia features a tactical, cooperative combat system. Enemies are controlled by game cards and dice, while you and your companions work together to defeat them.

Roleplaying
Take on the roles of a wide cast of characters as you encounter them throughout your journeys. Step into the shoes of a disgruntled shop owner, sniffling brat, or a poorly-dressed bandit leader. The incentive-based role play system encourages you to engage in dramatic storytelling, without being intrusive.

A Green Legacy Game
At Far Off Games, we love Legacy games, but we felt that their disposable nature didn't fit within our company culture. We came up with the Green Legacy Game idea. A Green Legacy Game features all the hallmarks of a Legacy game: opening packages, hidden information, progression, discovery, exploration, all the while wrapping it in high-quality components and allowing you to completely reset the game when you have completed it.

*Cody and team runs great campaign and if Xia: Legends of a Drift System is an indication of what their offering can be like, I am quite excited of what comes next. Especially since this appeals to my love for fantasy adventure.
Also intrigued by the green legacy aspect.

*Game is currently in heavy development / playtesting

It is not a quiz game and it is not a single match style soccer game, but it covers two complete tournaments - the 1930 tournament in Uruguay and the 2002 tournament in Korea and Japan. Two games in one box. The 1930 game takes around an hour to play, while the 2002 game takes around 3 hours to play."

It brought death, and changed the world for the descendants of those who survived.

Properly harnessed Neonite can levitate objects of unlimited mass and size. Kings, and warlords, revolutionaries and despots seek out neonite, each seeking absolute control of their people and their rivals.

Designer: Nigel Buckle, Dávid Turczi
Artist: Ian O'Toole
Publisher: Mindclash Games

Players:
1–4 Players
Play Time: 60–180 Min

Description:
For centuries, the Novarchs, descendants of the royal House of Novarchon, have ruled with an iron fist over the feudalistic galactic empire of humankind, the Domineum. During this time, they brought stunning technological innovation and scientific advancements to their domain. This accelerated progression helped the Domineum reach — and eventually inhabit — even the farthest segments of the known galaxy, where new Houses emerged to govern the outer sectors of the empire. As the House of Novarchon grew in power, so grew the religious cult that surrounded them, proclaiming grim prophecies about an ancient cosmic being from another dimension: the Voidborn.

Many thought it to be only a myth, but in truth, it was the Voidborn's dark influence that granted the Novarchs the sheer knowledge to achieve rapid expansion for the empire. While the cult of the Novarchs envisaged eternal life through the otherworldly entity, the Voidborn's only intention was satiating its eternal hunger. And so, when the Domineum had achieved a vastness fitting the Voidborn's craving, interdimensional rifts opened at the heart of the Domineum to unleash cosmic corruption. As the House of Novarchon and its followers welcomed the Voidborn and sought their false salvation, the entity infected and spread and seized control over the inner worlds. Now, it is time for the remaining Great Houses to purge the galactic corruption, prevent the Voidborn from fully manifesting in our dimension, and to ultimately overcome the chaos as the new rulers of the Domineum.
Voidfall is a space 4X game that brings the genre to Euro enthusiasts' tables. It combines the tension, player interaction, and deep empire customization of the 4X genre with the resource management, tight decisions, and minimum-luck gameplay of an economic Euro. Win by pushing back the Voidborn in the solo/coop mode, or by overcoming your rivals' influence in restoring the Domineum in the competitive mode — both using the same rule set and game system. Variability is ensured not only by multiple playable houses with their own strengths and weaknesses, but also by many different map set-ups for all game modes.

As the leader of a defiant Great House, you play through three cycles (rounds), each with a game-altering galactic event, a new scoring condition, and a set number of focus cards that can be played. Focus card decisions and sequencing is the centerpiece of the gameplay. By selecting two of their three impactful actions as you play them, you develop and improve techs; advance on your three house-specific civilization tracks; manage your sectors' infrastructure, population, and production; and conquer new sectors with up to five different types of space fleets. Space battles are fought either against the Voidborn's infected forces (which are present as neutral opponents even in the competitive mode) or against other players. Instead of relying on the luck of a die roll, battles in Voidfall are fully deterministic and reward careful preparation and outsmarting your opponents.

Kickstarting Date: June 2019

Players: 3-5
Play Time: 60 min

Description: Every high ranking member of the Scorp Corp said they could do a better job dominating the world than their current leader, Scorpion Supreme. When Scorpion Supreme suddenly died, the time for talk had passed.
Ruthless 86 is a dice-building worker placement game. You step into the elaborate combat boots of a world dominating villain straight out of 80s action cartoons. Recruit and train Troopers for menial tasks, or assemble them six into Units and send them on important missions around the world. Gather resources, fortify your HexQuarters, commandeer Doomsday Devices, all to amass enough power to claim the Scorpion Supreme title and with it leadership of the Scorp Corps.

We're aiming for a medium weight game with a strong theme and sense of character. Mechanically, one of the aspects I'm most excited about is the Trooper/Unit interaction. With most dice-builders, the die faces that aren't currently on a die sit on the side until they're needed. We've created a worker placement game with two different types of workers: Dice and die faces. A large part of the strategy is prioritizing which Troopers get added to Units and sent on Missions and which are assigned tasks.

We learned from our flubbed initial launch on Kickstarter that too much emphasis on the theme made it look like the game wasn't as far along in development as it is. Hopefully getting the rulebook out there and some playtest copies into the hands of trusted influencers will show we put as much thought into the mechanics as we did the theme.

One last note on the theme: Researching what the 80s thought the next evolution of technology would look like, I came across a term I immediately fell in love with: cassette futurism. You know the rooms in 80s cartoons that were floor to ceiling computer panels and monitors? That's cassette futurism.

Kickstarting Date: July 15th 2021

Designer: Vital Lacerda
Artist: Ian O'Toole
Publisher: Eagle-Gryphon Games

Players:
1-4 Players
Play Time: 90–150 Min

Description

On Mars: Alien Invasion is the much-anticipated Somewhat Cooperative Expansion to Vital Lacerda’s best-selling and highly-rated On Mars base game. Though this expansion was originally going to be named Surviving Mars, Eagle-Gryphon Games made the decision to change the name to On Mars: Alien Invasion to better reflect the theme and content of this expansion. The game narrative is contained in four chapters of a story written by Nathan Morse. Gameplay contains four new and different ways to expand upon and play the base game. You will play one versus many; completely cooperatively; and even solo if you wish, depending on the chapter. Included are four fresh and completely replayable ways to establish colonies On Mars!

For instance, here is the narrative that opens the first chapter and sets the stage for all of the following action:

Alert! Sensors indicate that aliens are invading the famous red planet! Long have the conspiracy theorists predicted this. The threat to your mission is too great; you must take action. Will you be able to prevent the infectious spread of these beings bent on expanding to every habitable planet in the galaxy? Or will you play for the other side, a species trying to establish a colony on Mars, blithely oblivious to the danger their expansion represents, unaware that there are others out there eager to keep humans “where they belong” on Earth.
Components:
- Over 20 Alien Meeples
- Alien Player Board
- Alien Advanced Building Markers
- Sentry & Defense Exosuit Meeples
- New Scientist - The Microbiologist,
- 77 Full-size Cards and 23 Mini Cards
- Over 115 Tokens and Markers!

Description:
"Natural disasters will quickly be a thing of the past.” - Those were the thoughts of Sêni Lativ, meteorologist and chief engineer of the weather department on Lightning Technologies after the latest test with his newest invention: The weather machine.

He can see how controlling the weather will change the world, but never in the way he ever imagines it. As soon as the news about controlling the weather come out in the media, a significant struggle rise over his invention. Businessman wants to make it a commodity, politicians a weapon. His company just want to sell it to the highest payout.
Tourism, agriculture, private companies, governments, secret organizations. In a minute everyone wants a piece of this machine.

Players are executives working to Lighting Technologies trying to achieve the highest place on the company board. To do that they can follow different paths, showing loyalty to the company and the dream of the scientist by working towards the benefits of the earth climate or just selling the weather services to the highest bidder.

The game is a tile placement game to build and manipulate the weather using the Machine, resource managing to feed its needs, and goals achievements.
Mechanics so diverge from action selection, worker placement and tile placement and hand management. Players will try to point the machine to complete their contracts and at the same part increase their power in business and climb the stairs of the company.

Players choose all the 8 actions available to them, and they resolve it in any order they want one at the time. The action selection is based on the quadrel created to Vinhos, and the actions are:
1. Gather resources, 2. Use Weather Machine, 3. Change machine target, 4. get a deal, 5. accomplish a contract, 6. Help Lativ 7. infiltrate a company, 8. Try a promotion

Lands of Galzyr is an adventuring game with an open and persistent world. Everyone’s actions have consequences in the current and later games. Players assume the roles of cunning adventurers traversing the lands while completing quests, trying to gather fame and prestige.

Each game continues where the previous ended with a clever save and load mechanism. There is no need for bookkeeping with paper or pencil. You can play the game as many times as you wish and even swap players between sessions.

Lands of Galzyr is set in Daimyria, the same world as both the Dale of Merchants series and Dawn of Peacemakers. Go adventuring with both familiar and new animalfolks!

Play Time: 45-90 Min

Description
Quantified is a co-operative board game set in a world in which everyone's behavior is constantly surveilled and analyzed. A player's behavior results in a social credit score, determining their position on the social ladder. Players start from different positions on the social ladder, as refugee, unemployed or employed, with unequal access to human rights. The goal of the game is to make all rights accessible to all players and to fight the implementation of totalitarian policies.

During a typical turn, players can move around the city, add non-player-characters to their network, attempt to solve so-called rally cards (initiatives that support human equality), attempt to prevent so-called threat cards (automatic, constantly approaching negative effects, such as invasive amendments, correction camps or totalitarian laws), or even simply work an official or illegal job. The trick is that not every action can be taken by every player. For example, those without the right to movement take longer to cross the city, while those without the right to free speech can't share their rally cards with others — and even the actions you can take must be taken with care as all actions leak personal data. If too much data is leaked, the players may have to face behavior analysis cards that negatively impact their collective game state!

Ultimately, by solving enough rally cards or working their way up the social ladder, every player should have access to all four human rights. Once this is done, the players win! But if three totalitarian laws come into effect before then or the threat deck runs out, the players collectively lose.

Description
Bloodstones is a fantasy wargame for two to six players featuring six different races, each with their own specific powers. Each of the six races in Bloodstones has its own mix of units, represented by domino shape tiles (no chits!). Some of these units will be unique to that race, such as Dragons to the Dragon Riders and Giants.

The aim of the game is to have the most victory points at the end of the game, which can be gained by building, by pillaging other players’ villages and by winning battles.

Note: number of races (6 or more) is dependent on Kickstarter success.

A separately available solomode by Dávid Turczi and Nick Shaw will be published by the designer.

Description

Followers is a hardcore eurogame combining two epic subjects — mythology and time travel.

In Followers, you become one of the mythological gods and travel to different epochs to convert as many people as possible to your faith. Make your Followers build the Symbols of Faith in your honor, using conjoint and finite resources of the planet.

On your turn, you can place your five Avatars (in the game they are represented by miniatures) on the empty space on the board and do a corresponding action. You can also pay resources to initiate the construction of the Symbols of Space or use your special God power. All of the above actions create powerful combos, making you more and more powerful.
The game play is tricky: resources used in the Past expire in the Present and Future. A unique electronic device helps to micromanage the whole process. Instead of counting, players just need to press a button.

The winner of the game is the player, who has converted the most Followers.

Description

The Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is an aggressive monarch with a whimsical temper. She has a nasty inclination to utter her favorite words whenever subjects displease her — "Off with their heads!" — and just like that, she suddenly needs new gardeners to decorate the royal garden...

You and your teammates have been appointed as the new royal gardeners! The job is a dangerous one. Keep the Queen happy while planting the royal garden and you will keep your job and your head. But the Queen of Hearts is whimsical. Indeed, whenever you decipher her floral preferences for the royal garden she changes them on a whim, almost as if she is itching to deliver her famous phrase. Stay one step ahead of the Queen as you fill the garden, and your talent will go recognized across the land. But make one small mistake, and the last words you hear from her might be "Off with their heads!"

Paint the Roses is a cooperative deduction game for 2-5 players. You need to use strategy, logic and teamwork to win. On your turn, you take one tile and put it in the garden to try to give your teammates information about your card and to get information about your teammate's cards. Correctly guess what is on the cards to advance. The Queen will be chasing after you, and if she passes you, she will take your heads along with her, but you win if you complete the garden without losing your heads.

Description

Towers of the Sun is an abstract strategy game in which two to four players take on the role of mystical clans each coming from their own unique and beautiful regions. They’ve lived in peace and harmony until a dangerous and mysterious mist begins to gradually cover their world, blocking out the sunlight. The clans must now compete to collect the remaining sunlight, and build majestic towers to escape the mist and reach towards the sun.

During the game players will build and navigate a changing, three-dimensional landscape. The playing field is limited and players will compete for the best positions, occasionally battling it out with their hand cards in a simple, yet mind-boggling duel of simultaneous reveal. As they navigate the board, players will collect sun crystals that other players have dropped. At the end of each round the sun shines upon a different tower presenting the players with additional sun crystals. Before a new round begins, players will score points based on which tower they stand upon and the crystals they’ve collected so far.

The main mechanisms used in the game are its modular board (mutated by the players via tile placement), area control, hand management and deductive logic (for the card battles). Beyond the strategy of building and managing their tower tiles, players must also think ahead and not be too greedy because after the scoring phase of each round the leading player will have to exercise their generosity and care by providing charity to the lowest scoring player. This adds both rubber-banding and interactivity that makes every game tense until the last sun crystal has been claimed.

The game comes to end when all of the sunlight is gone. This happens naturally, with sun crystals being collected each round, but players can also force this to happen early by standing atop a tower of 8 tiles or more and essentially “reaching the sun”.

Description

Adventure Ink: Five Factions of Filigree is a cooperative storytelling game where Players embark on an adventure in the world of Filigree. Player characters form an Adventuring Party that interacts with the inhabitants of Filigree and with each other. Each character has their own unique set of items, skills and magic. Together you will solve puzzles, engage in battles, gather loot and decide the path your story will take. As the game progresses, your character will earn Experience Points and level up, discover new locations, acquire and craft items, learn new skills and magic, master weaponry and become increasingly powerful through many different types of encounters in an ever changing world.

Adventure Ink is a write-and-role playing game. At times you will be drawing cards and rolling dice, and then writing the results of your draws and rolls on various game components, including the dry erase gameplay board. These results will assist you in role playing as your character within the illustrated settings you help create. Using an innovative character personality system and a deterministic tactical combat system, battle outcomes will be determined based on your strategies and decisions, not on dice rolls or randomly drawn modifiers. The game can be played as a single competitive/cooperative skirmish or as a cooperative campaign over a series of sessions where, as a group, you will use the accompanying Scenario book to choose which path to follow from a series of encounters. A Game Master, or “GM”, who reads the story and controls the various Non-Player Characters (“NPCs”) is not needed to play Adventure Ink.

A powerful warrior-mage, you have pledged yourself to an ancestral cast of elite guardians sworn to to protect the sanctuaries of the Seven Vales. When your home is attacked, you take it upon yourself to go beyond your calling, and take the road in search of lost and stolen magical artifacts vital for the safeguard of your world. Do you and your allies have what it takes to become the first Soul Raiders the Seven Vales has known in centuries?

Soul Raiders is an original saga, the first crafted specifically for the Running Quest game system. This immersive narrative experience, in a high-fantasy world setting, pits epic heroes against diabolical villains in a race to recover powerful relics that were used to build the foundations of their universe.

Each game box, or Tome, is divided into several game sessions,or Chapters, forming and epic series of adventures that will evolve dramatically thanks to the heroic actions of players and the missions you accomplish.

The Running Quest game system employs clever cooperative mechanics for 1-4 players, confronting heroes with a new threat in every chapter. During your turn, you act independently or in collaboration to explore surroundings, defeat adversaries and complete missions. The setting is composed of various locations, depicted on numbered cards that you will uncover as you progress through your adventures.

You draw your actions from a personal deck of cards, managing your hand carefully to choose your path : will you spend all your Action points to climb sneakily over the drawbridge, or should you spend a little less to lower it down in a more direct approach? You could also look for an entrance hidden in the surrounding swamps... Each choice has a different consequence, but there is no ideal itinerary to follow in order to win the game, as the author made sure that any path is a victorious possibility, even if some are easier than others.

A truly cooperative experience, adventurers share a common pool of life points, increasing the global threat level as you take more and more wounds. You will triumph if you accomplish the various quests hidden in the many locations of the chapter, but lose if you run out of time or allow your opponents to overwhelm you. The enemies' behavior being dictated by the combination of locations in play, you will have to choose wisely when to fight, or when to... run!

The game box holds over one thousand illustrated cards of various sizes, miniatures for the adventurers, and a number of tokens and tracks. Storing components are provided to save your characters' equipment and skills from one chapter to another, and even from one Tome to another!
