This is a list of upcoming anticipated board games to be launched for Kickstarter. Please help this list by adding a game with a launch date (or estimated), as it's difficult to know everything coming up in the pipeline. If you have any pertinent information regarding a games Kickstarter launch or development, feel free to comment with that as well.

Please use the standard format (with geeklinks) for items added to the list, and then any other info OR pictures may be added as a comment below! It helps significantly to keep this list organized with a standard format and not to include anything extra in the geeklist item header itself. Any geeklist item not following this format is subject to deletion.

Description

PUBLISHERS: Hopefully this will be a great list for you to generate some traffic to your project before it launches. I'll do my best to keep arranging these in order by estimated release date as games are added.

Once a game has been launched on Kickstarter, It will be removed a few days after launch (3-7 days), as there are plenty of devoted lists and posts for active Kickstarter projects. Due to life demands right now of opening Hitherto Coffee & Gaming Parlour, I am MIA on BGG activity and usually only updating this list monthly. After things calm down I hope to get back to the list more regularly. Special thanks to those whom are managing their additions and marking games as launched and completed to help keep the list cleaned up.

This is a list for only upcoming and unlaunched projects. Please feel free to geekmail me if you have any questions.

Thanks for subscribing and enjoy!

*disclaimer: This list is not anything definitive to a project launching on the estimated date, or time, or even launching period, as project creators/publishers may change plans without notice.

Description:

Around 800BC China was blossoming as a civilization. The Zhou emperor sat on the throne of a feudal China and ruled through wise philosophers, able warlords, and a strong army. The Chinese world was making huge cultural, scientific, and philosophical strides.

But a single generation later, those same advisors and lords rose up against the throne, and each other, to claim hegemony for their philosophy and way of life. Welcome to the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China.

Spring and Autumn: Story of China is a 4X civilization game in which you take control of one of the pre-eminent states of the time to explore the world around you, expand your borders, research powerful advancements, build up your economy, and bring honor upon your name. Your goal is to establish the first true dynasty in China.

Spring and Autumn: Story of China expands on the system from in Hellenica: Story of Greece, introducing all-new gameplay elements like a philosophy system, diplomacy, enhanced combat, honor, expanded victory conditions, the Great Wall, and did we mention Chinese dragons? As with all "Story of" games, Spring and Autumn: Story of China will include the best AI and solo play system available in a 4x game.

Can you guide your civilization during these turbulent times? Will your vision of Chinese civilization be remembered for all time, or will you merely be a stepping stone for another…?

Kickstarting Date: Summer 2021

Designer: James Faulkner
Artist: Imad Awan
Publisher: Stone Sword Games

Players: 1-6
Play Time: 20-300 min

Description:
Daimyo: Battle For Japan is a boxed, 1-6 player game set during "The Warring Period" of Feudal Japan's history.
The game can be played differently depending on your preference. Campaign games will take several hours of patient scheming and intense warfare. “Freestyle” game may take less than half an hour!

The Campaign mode is a city builder, worker placement game that has been folded with a clan “management simulator”. Playing as the historical Daimyo (head) of your clan, rise to the top with Retainers, Legendary items and beautiful additions to his castle or domain!
Be nefarious by hiring Ninja, importing guns or even trading with Christians! Dominate the other clans or become their better by any means necessary!
The Campaign mode is currently planned to have “save points” so you can come back to the game as a group if you desired a shorter play session.

The Battle mode starts with a small but slick deck builder mechanic where the player recruits an army of 12 cards. Each “unit” card representing units of Samurai and Ashigaru.
Battling another clan involves taking this army into the field or into a siege and playing a "battle mode" game that combines your units positioning, strengths and your leader's orders to win in modified "highest roll value" dice combats. There are hundreds of combinations of army to explore as a General in Feudal Japan.

Daimyo: Battle For Japan has no “true” player elimination mechanic. If the Daimyo and his Heir are killed then the player becomes a “Ronin”, or master-less Samurai, who can engage in banditry and still influence the game’s end result with new asymmetrical abilities.

This will be a combined campaign with Senjtsu (not yet in the database), which is a 2 player miniatures skirmish game set in the same period.

Description

Forces of History is a game that simulates world history, using an original combination of game mechanics inspired by games as diverse as Terraforming Mars, Twilight Struggle, Innovation, and Reiner Knizia's The Confrontation. Instead of controlling a particular historical leader or empire, players take on the roles of celestial beings who are pulling the strings of history from behind the curtains. The celestials must help each other to make the divine plan for the world unfold, but beneath the thin veneer of cooperation there is fierce rivalry... for the Lord of Time, as ancient as creation itself, will give a rich reward to the celestial who shows the most skill at influencing world events. This is why all actions in the game - recruiting agents, collecting coins, claiming forces, playing cards and more - are ultimately aimed at just one thing: to gain as many Influence Points (IP) as possible. At the end of the game, the player with the most IP wins.

Forces of History is a complex strategy game that combines the best of several different worlds. It simulates world history, yet every playthrough is different from the one before; it offers rich historical lore to the hobby-historian, but you don't need to know or care about history to play it.

The game offers several different game variants: Classical-Medieval Age game (standard), Classical Age game, Medieval Age game, and team play (2v2) in any of the above settings. The playing time can vary from 2 hours up to 6-7 hours, depending on the variant chosen (and on player familiarity). NOTE: The Modern Age is not yet available, but if the game is released and becomes as successful as we hope, it will be released in the upcoming expansion.

This is a game that doesn't easily fit into any established category.

Description

Players see strategy in a whole new light when they play KROMA, an award-winning color blending strategy game for 2 or 3 players. Territory is captured by placing colorful, translucent acrylic pieces across a lightboard, resulting in a unique composition of colors and shapes. By layering primary color pieces, players create their “target” secondary color to score points - and create a collaborative art piece through competitive play.

KROMA has a short, straightforward ruleset triggering game play that flourishes with unexpected complexity. The rules are simple: draw a piece from the bag, then place that primary colored translucent tile onto the lightboard with the goal to covert spaces into your target secondary color, block opponents, and claim the board for the win. Territory capture has never been so beautiful.

Players get to choose size/shape, but not color! Each turn the active player will reach into a bag and pull out a single piece that they must place on the lightboard. Players can feel what size/shape the piece is, but do not know what color the piece is. That partial control yields fun, surprising layers of strategy and challenge.

As two layers of pieces populate the lightboard, KROMA creates a uniquely 3-dimensional multiplayer strategy experience. It's an accessible blend of precision and randomness that makes it quick to learn, while offering an ongoing strategic challenge for seasoned players. The ability to play with either two or three players makes this game great for couples, families, and friends.

Description

The crow glares from its gargoyle perch as crumbs of granite fall from the decaying structure. You hear the creak of the nearby door too late to dodge the hand that pulls you inside and presses you against the wall. The smell of the rotting timbers floods your nostrils. Your assailant removes her mask -It is the Muscle. ‘‘Once again you’ve been careless with your steps.’’ You say nothing. ‘‘The Baron refuses to leave Schloss Böse, so we must go to him.’’ She hands you a wax sealed envelope, then disappears into the darkness. You tuck the envelope, step back into the street, and disappear into the fog.

Nine Ravens is a deck and tableau building game for 2 to 4 players. Each represents rival guilds of thieves, insurgents, and trouble makers known as Ravens vying for control of the city as the Baron’s grasp loosens. By stealing powerful artifacts and relics, each organisation hopes to emerge the victor when the moon disappears.

The game is played through five rounds where they will use their Raven cards to steal, claim and store items to earn points at the end of the game. At the end of five rounds, players will tally their points, with the highest number determining the winner.

Description

In Yucatan, you are the leader of a Mayan city. You have promised your people to win the favors of the Gods, and their fate is in your hands. Send your warlords to capture enemies, increase your might with every season of the sacred calendar, and sacrifice your prisoners to the Mayan gods to ensure your dominance.

Your warlords will become more and more formidable, your city more and more glorious, but your opponents do the same, so enlisting the help of the mythological creatures and heroes will be necessary to try to restore with blood, the energy of your gods.

In this game, your goal is to capture prisoners, and the Yucatan peninsula is your playground. Prepare for four seasons of fierce fighting. At the end of each season, you will ritually sacrifice captured enemies to gain reputation, but be careful because the gods are demanding: Each of your sacrifices must be more glorious than the last. Each decision matters in the subtle balance required to make your city the glorious and eternal sanctuary of the mighty Mayan gods.

Description

Dealers in Hope is a deck-building game of conflict. As faction leaders, players vie for control of a future Europe that is a shell of its former glory. Build a deck that matches your faction's play style and take back the continent!

Each player controls a different faction leader with unique abilities and a unique starting deck. The leader you choose determines how you score victory points to win the game. Regardless, all leaders score a bulk of their points through conquest. On your turn, select an action by placing one of your tokens on the action board. Actions fall into one of three categories: Train (add cards to your deck), Reorganize (manipulate your deck), and Assault (attack territories). Action slots are limited, so it is essential to plan ahead and guess your opponents' moves.

Dealers in Hope uses several types of cards, with some types, i.e., professional cards, being selected randomly and others coming from the game's preset deck suggestions. Each set of professional cards has three levels — level 1, level 2, and master — and you must Train these increasingly powerful cards in order. Battles are fought via back-and-forth card play. Cards contain attack, defense, support, and (often) effects. The attacker plays as many cards as desired from their hand, then the defender gets a single chance to play cards in defense. Finally, the attacker gets one more chance to beat the defender. The winner gains/holds the territory, along with bonuses associated with that territory.

Unlike many games of this type, Dealers in Hope focuses not only on the military side of warfare, but also on the people behind the scenes: the civilians, masses, etc. who affect and are affected by the campaign.

Description

Breakthroughs in deep sea mining technology have ushered in a modern gold rush as corporations’ position themselves to extract the oceans riches of rare earth metals.

As corporations seek to exploit the wealth of the ocean, ecologists and research groups see the expeditions as an opportunity to study and catalogue rare lifeforms never before encountered. An uneasy collaboration has formed as scientist make use of the vast wealth of industry and the industrialist depend on the breakthroughs provided by studying the vast and hostile deep-sea ecosystem.

Deep Shelf is an game of deep-sea exploration, exploitation, development, and research. Players take on the role of competing corporations seeking to find and develop resource nodes, extract rare earth metals, transport them to the surface and research the unexplored deepest reaches of the ocean.

As the leader of your corporation, you will decide whether to expand quickly and strip mine the ocean of its wealth, or take a more eco friendly approach and learn as much as possible about the wonders of the deep. Players must be cautious of mining too greedily, or delving too deep, as such actions will damage the natural ecosystems of the ocean, hastening the end of the game, and not everything in the deep is friendly.

Description

Flock of Seagulls was created as we wanted a game to slap down on seagulls, they are chip thieves.
Flock of Seagulls is a 2-5 playing card game, in which players must try and win all the cards in the deck. Cards are shuffled and dealt evenly to all players.

You win the centre pile by slapping down on the following scenarios - Good Food Card – Trio of Seagulls in a Row – Two Ice Cream Seagulls. However, there are various Bad Food Cards and special cards in the pack to which if slapped on, that player must forfeit 3 cards to the centre pile.
Special cards like the Pirate Seagull have been added, whereby once lain, all players must shout Parlay and the last player to do so, forfeits 3 cards to the centre pile.

If the Mob Card is lain, that player can shout mob before the next player lays their card and claim 5 cards from any player.
This game can be played for 1 minute or 15 minutes, it all depends on how good you are at spotting the difference between the cards.

Description

Mononoke is a semi-cooperative bluffing game where players take the role of heroes defending a cursed castle from bizarre spirits of Japanese legend. As night approaches over the castle, only one hero at a time can take watch and see the spirit approach. Only they know the spirit's strength and whether it is friend or foe, and it's up to them to rally their allies... or lead them to their own destruction.

Using a unique blind bidding combat mechanic and partial information about your enemies, Mononoke is a parable about trust and teamwork. If the castle falls, no player can win, but if you play it too safe, you may be left in the dust as another player rises to the top.

Description

Nagashino 1575 & Shizugatake 1583 is the first volume of a serie dedicated to Sengoku jidai period. It consists of a double-sided zone map, 216 beautifully illustrated, 20 pages rulebook, one game aid and two scenarios. The scale is 300m per zone, 30 minutes per game turn and 500 men per counter. A game lasts 2 to 3 hours and is ideally for 2 players.

The Battle of Nagashino 1575 marks a tactical turning point in the wars in Japan of the Sengoku jidai period (1467-1615) or Warring states; Daimyo Oda's army, made up of ashigaru teppo (infantrymen equipped with arquebuses) supported by ashigaru naga-yari and yumi (pike and bow) defeat the terrible charges of the samurai cavalry of the Takeda clan.
As for the Battle of Shizugatake 1583, it is unique in its kind as it takes place on the heights of a wooded mountain and begins in the middle of the night ...
Prepare for fast and bloody battles where tactics are essential!
