It's the Bicentenary of the Waterloo Campaign this month and I really want to get some Waterloo based gaming done to commemorate the momentous occasion as such I have a number of games that I would like to get some table time over the period 16th To 18th June plus the weekend of 19th and 20th June.

Some of the games will get solo plays whilst, with a bit of luck, some will get some face 2 face opposed play.

I will use this list to chart my progress and the thrills and spills of some Napoleonic themed gaming.

Hope to get a three player joint game of this played. Haven't played this in a while so would be good to get it back to the table...such a good game.

Hope to play some opposed games of this in. Will try to get Quatre Bras played and Waterloo. Depending on time I may get Ligny done. Wavre is doubtful.

16th June 2015
Battle of Quatre Bras fought. Played with all cards and propositioned historical terrain. Close fight but Wellington was able to push the centre and seize Gemioncourt farm from the French. Wellington held the centre and the battle was won!

18th June 2015
Epic Battle of Waterloo. Five front battle using all the cards. Played placing most of the units in their semi-historical positions and only special cards to draw from the reserve. Very long game indeed but really good fun. Prussian's started to turn up very early which put the French on edge straight away. D'Erlon advanced against the Ohain Ridge and put huge pressure on the position. Battle centred on this area for quite sometime with the French making gains and eventually capturing part of the ridge but not the position in its entirety. Allied cavalry swept in to try and save the day but was countered by French cavalry. Casualties mounted. The French tried to support the attack by sending a large force against Papalotte and for a while these two positions came under extreme pressure. Additionally the far right flank of the Anglo-Allied position was also attacked in force and almost fell to a Hugh French effort. But the tide turned and mounting casualties and the presence of the Prussian's being made to count the eventual decision had to made and the French had to fall back on all fronts and fight a defensive battle. This turned the battle into on offensive attack for the Anglo-Allied army and with significant Prussian support the battle was won with the fall of Plancenoit on the French right and Braine l' Allaud on the French left. The French were bled dry of reserves and could not hold the massing Prussian's. Both positions feel to the allies on the same turn.

New kid on the block. This is a great little game that is really quick and is very engaging indeed. So far I have only played it solo but, I hope to get a couple of opposed plays in too!

18th June 2015
Game I
AKB Allies vs Adrian French
French victory with 42 points to the allied 8.
Allies tried the Prussian plan and managed to deploy quite a few units but the French were able to repulse the Prussians on a number of times. Meanwhile the Allied reserve was whittled away and the Allies broke just before the French.

18th June 2015
Game II
AKB French vs Adrian allies.
French victory with 42 points to the allied 8.
Allies utilized the Prussian plan to pressure the French.
French used the Grand Battery repeatedly to wear down the Allied Morale.
Prussians took Plancenoit but the French too Hougoumont and bled out the Allied Reserves. Prussian gained five divisions at the same point in time that the joint casualties hit the ten mark so causing the time shift by two periods in one turn bring the battle to late afternoon very quickly.
It was a race to see who would break first and a very tight game indeed. France just pipped the allies by forcing some casualties on Allies which brought them to breaking point.

19th June 2015
Game III
AKB French vs Adam Anglo-Allied
French victory with 35 points to the Allied 15.

Game IV
Adam Anglo-Allied vs Russ French
Anglo-Allied victory 40 points to the French 10.

Game V
Russ Allies vs AKB French
Anglo-Allied victory 40 points to the French 10

21st June 2015

Game VI
Russ Anglo-Allied vs Adam French
Anglo-Allied victory 37 points to the French 13

Game VII
AKB Anglo-Allied vs Russ French
Anglo-Allied victory 41 points to the French 9

Game VIII
AKB French vs Adam Anglo-Allied
French victory 41 points to the Anglo-Allied 9

Recently replayed this and so I am up to speed with it again. I like the Attactix range of lite wargames. They are engaging and don't take too long to get played. This particular one is not a bad little game and is quite challenging too.

Might be nice to try and play a Waterloo based mini game using this. Not sure how practical this will be but I will check out the possibilities. So far only played a couple of times and I like it a lot. I think it plays better solo at the moment but, I am happy to find out otherwise if it gets some table time.

The ultimate in speedy quick but interesting play. This game really does deliver on the speed front. I recently played a series of games with friends whilst on the battlefield of Waterloo. Its fast set-up and breakdown time meant it could be played with ease and without any issues. Will have to have another round-robin of this fun title.

18th June 2015

Game I
Prussian I corps supports Prussian IV Coprs.
Imperial Guard committed to assault allied I corp with Napoleon in attendance.
Result Napoleon got too close to the fighting and received a mortal wound.
Zero points!

Game II
Prussian I corps supports Prussian IV Coprs.
Imperial Guard committed to assault allied I corps with Napoleon in attendance.
Result Napoleon stalemate and a loss but with Glory
2 points

Game III
Prussian I corps delayed leaving Prussian IV Corps on own.
Imperial Guard committed to assault allied I corps with Napoleon in attendance.
Result Napoleon urges the Guard on and the Allied 1st Corps is defeated and forced back along the Brussels Road. Napoleon wins a decisive victory and glory is heaped upon the Emperor!
6 points.

21/06/2015

Game IV
Adam as Napoleon.
Prussian I Corps support Anglo-Allied Flank. Guard assist VI Corps to attack Prussian IV Corps. Napoleon advances with the Guard and although he fails to break the stalemate, he gains glory for his efforts.
4 points.

Game V
Russ as Napoleon.
Prussian 1 Corp supports Prussian IV. Guard is sent to the ridge to take on the Anglo-Allied forces. Napoleon goes forth with the Guard. Morale is shaken and French strength dissipates. Napoleon losses the battle but leaves the field with glory.
2 points.

Game VI
AKB as Napoleon.
Prussian I Corps is delayed and does not reach the field of battle in time. The Guard are sent forth to the ridge line with Napoleon at their head. Even this is not sufficient to break the Anglo-Allied position and Napoleon finally leaves the field with a draw and glory to go with it.
4 points.

A lovely campaign wide gamelet. Really like that this is played on a small map and can be readily played almost anywhere. Low number of counters and relatively easy game play. Looking forward to getting some opposed play of this title too.
