Totally unrelated, I'd like to present my own creation for the contest.

Zombie Slayer puts you in the role of a Slayer who has been called to rid a town of an evil Necromancer and his army of Zombies.

Due to the modular board as well as the countless options to create your own Slayer (instead of using the preconfigured one), there is plenty of replayability in this game.

For those folks loving to chuck lots of dice, this game is definetly a must have!

Saw this and started to work on a bit of extra design and printing it out. Since Evan hasn't finished Escape From Colditz Complete Redesign this looks like it'd be something to try. I like uniquely themed games of this sort.

Printed cards, tokens, and tiles on 60lb paper, laminated. Used the optional backs that say outdoors/indoors. Added a box which is a little big. I may redo it at some point for something a little stronger and smaller. Added a meeple and a few cubes for tracking where everything is.

Base game plus the Europe Expansion on printed/laminated hex tiles. Picked up refillable cartridges for my printer and got to give them a workout. Gamecrafter cubes, pawns, and blank dice, dice have stickers to add the colors.

Really need to work on my box building...

The last time I did RiddleCraft I cut black and white prints out of plain paper and loaded them into card sleeves, maybe the first card game I did that way. Of course that is the one that was a big family hit, and I vowed to do a decent PrinterStudio version next time. Here it is:

From gallery of Grosseteste

It's my first project with ImageMagick, first in cutting the pdf into individual cards (this was after failing to get YACK working), and then to create a border by tiling each image on a slightly bigger canvas reflected in each direction. Turned out pretty nice!

Suppose here's as good a place as any to provide notes on the game, since it doesn't look like it's gone anywhere since the contest. This game can be very fun, but it's also pretty fragile. By that I mean it's dangerous to play with people who approach it with a game-y perspective, so it can turn into a short negotiation game if you've got people who can't judge riddles fairly. Being aware of one's bias does not always help!

I also find that a common development is people lay down card after card along a similar theme, so that around card 5 or so everyone has one very specific thing in mind and we're just playing until someone has a card that doesn't fit the description. I try to make unexpected plays to move the game along, but it's not exactly a winning strategy...

The third issue is with groups of 3 or 5. Ties become pretty easy in such a game, and as the challenger is often the person whose turn is next, when a vote is tied, he has to come up with a new explanation for the collection of cards he just called BS on, or try to add to the description of the answer the last player gave, which he may have just voted against. Maybe it's a feature rather than a bug, but situations like these are especially vulnerable to a gamer wanting to win.

Don't let my notes dissuade you though, there's a lot to recommend this family/party game, and it's already gotten a bunch of use from this occasional gamer.

EDIT: to actually finish the post

This is my game for the 2015 Solitaire Print and Play Contest

I built it yesterday (8/4/2015) and got my first play in of it this morning. It's a quick and dirty build, with the sides not perfect aligned, but it was good enough to get an idea of what the art looked like and I was able to play it with no issues.

Now that making my game is out of the way, I can start printing off some of the other entries that look interesting.

I'm working on a new graphic design for Escape from New York. Got the game board done and now working on the cards.

Hope to have this ready for the next Strategicon LA convention in September.

Here's a shot of my new game board with a couple test printed cards and another shot side by side with the original 1981 board.

Here's a few card image samples. These will be Poker size cards so much easier to deal with then the super mini cards that came in the original game.

I redid the retheme from last month as I wanted to try to link the images a bit more thematically to the scoring actions. I've partially succeeded. This is a Star Wars retheme, using mostly fan art I found all over the wilds of the Internet (the only exceptions being the Millenium Falcon card which uses a still from one of the trailers for Ep 7, and I think the Count Dooku image which looks like a still from the Clone Wars TV series).

I made new suits to allow grouping of images, which were:
- Places (planet, image from wookiepedia for a "real" planet in the Star Wars universe)
- Sith/Empire (red lightsaber)
- Jedi/Rebellion (green lightsaber)
- Battles (crossed lightsabers)
- Vehicles (Millenium Falcon)

Here's how the cards ended up looking:

From gallery of njshaw2
From gallery of njshaw2

I tried to go for lighter coloured images, to be a little more ink-friendly to my printer.

I made a couple changes since putting this together yesterday.

- Fixed 2 text errors.
- Increased the size of the number in the Text a couple points to stand out more.
- Changed the Green bonus cards to Grey (because they shouldn't count as a colour.
- Changed Aqua color to Green to better differentiate from blue.

I've played this twice now, and it's a fun little 2 player game.

Board Game: The 19th hole
Working my way through the 2015 Solitaire Print and Play contest entries.

We tried 19th Hole using push pins to keep the cards in place. Luckily I have an unlimited supply of color copies so poking holes in the cards was not a big deal for me. We called them divots. Stick pin placement was important to keep the player card, approach card and club card from running into the pins.

It is a beautiful game. I love the fairway play. I was a bit confused by the math of putting. But wow is there a lot of card manipulation required. Most of the game is delicate little card movements.

I had crafted a Beta version of this game to playtest a couple of months back and designer, Jack Darwid, sent me the current essentially-ready-for-primetime files to review ahead of his Kickstarter launch today.

I did another quick and dirty build (penny sleeves and MtG cards) of this clever micro game. 17 cards total - 4 each per player, 3 more used to show who has the ball where and with what momentum, plus an additional 6 used to determine whether or not a shot flies into the top corner!

My current build also included a couple of Team cards (England vs. Germany in my case) which add additional variety. These (and / or other backer requested nations) will be available as Stretch Goals if the campaign is successful.

Looking forward to getting a bunch more games in and submitting a Review in the next week or so.

The Beta files - which are the complete game with current rules and less polished art - can be found free of charge on the campaign page. Check it out!

Pictured with this is my build of Austerity, which is a work in progress game. You can check it out on it's WIP thread.

Fun little game and an easy build. I printed my sheet on card stock and had it laminated so I could use a dry erase marker instead of finding another color of cubes. I also don't have spare white cubes so I used pink.

I grabbed a Crown Royal back for the bits, pen, and rules and have the one sheet with me. Very portable (I played in a coffee shop). It's solo and well done.

I've been tinkering around with an entry for the 2015 Children's Game Print and Play Design Contest. It's a simple States of Siege style game that is designed to help kids try new food. The food is attacking the village and you must taste it to save the villagers.

You can find all the info here. I hope you don't mind punny names.
Tastes of Siege

Right now this probably qualifies more as a "Draw-by-Hand and Play" rather than Print and Play but I'll be making some actual components soon.

Just printed this one, now to gather some cubes

Edit: I really like this game, is has this "dynamic feel" that deckbuilders have

I'm assembling my prototype for the Dice Hate Me Game's Dexterity Game Contest (or DHMGDGC) called Pizza Pronto.

From gallery of BuckWilde

In Pizza Pronto, players are rival pizza delivery people rushing to deliver pizza to customers first after the phone lines get mixed and all pizza orders get sent to all the pizza places in town. Players get around town by flicking their car to locations and tossing their pizzas into the buildings. Only those that remember the order correctly and throw accurately will get paid. Special delivery instructions ramp up the difficulty but could pay off big if executed correctly.

I would love some feedback or comments on the design, so check out the WIP thread here: Pizza Pronto

UPDATE: Changed the icons on the pizzas to make them easier to read since they will be small tokens. Also updated the WIP link to the correct thread.
