Don't forget that rule : you can discard one card from your hand do gain action points equal do its cost.

Forget that rule and the game is impossible. Then remember the rule and the game is fun !

My son crafted this game while he was staying at home being ill. I helped with corner rounding because my corner punch is a little hard to use.

I also translated the rules in french.

I scaled the board up so the cells are about 30-35mm and I use wood blocks for the buildings and LR14 batteries for the monsters (upcycling !)

Noticed this one because of this geeklist. Since I was fitting this in among other components I went ahead and made my own design using images from game-icons since it was easier than breaking the PnP file apart.

Board Game: Carcassonne: The Castle – Falcon Expansion
Finally finished cutting those pesky jigsaw pieces. The tiles and aerie tokens were done I believe in the month of september already, so this has been under construction for quite some time now. At last we're able to play this.

Board Game: Carcassonne: The Castle – Falcon Expansion

EDIT: I palyed it last night and boy was this ever a good addition to the game! The variant where you need to stop on the city gates when scoring really elevates the strategic depth of this game to whole new level. Now I was building a huge tower with my king-meeple on it until I realized that a biggest points I could possibly score without losing any due to the stoppage was 28p. I had to postpone the tower scoring until I had scored some points to get directly on the gates and then score the big points out of the tower.

If you have this game, I seriously recommend you to craft this!

You just have to print 5 extra cards, although not really necessary and have a deck of 6 nimmt! to play this one.

My wife really liked to play this one with me

Decided to put this free PnP together. Great artwork. And despite the light hearted art, it's not a filler game.

4-player game: One player is the Knight (trying to kill the dragon), the Goblins(trying to kill the knight), the Dragon (trying to wake up and get the hell out of the cave to find a better more quiet home), the Cave (trying to kill everyone).

From gallery of patton55

So far, so good. A little bit more to grok than I initially anticipated. Since each player has their own distinct rules to remember.

For those who may be interested, SP released a (very) short pnp demo of The 7th Continent in their latest update on Kickstarter (8 pages double-sided).https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1926712971/the-7th-cont....

I've printed it off, but haven't had a chance to cut it up and play it yet

Just in time when I got my days work done I found out that they finally released the pnp-files. Decided to print this on thick cardboard with my old laser printer. So I hooked it up and started printing... aaand pretty soon realized that it was up to the task no more. The machine started to show its age, so there was some serious flaking issues especially when printing pure red or blue on a thick cardboard. Plain paper is still ok, but all in all the result was acceptable for testing purposes.

Now I just need to read the rulebook and got it played a bit over the weekend before making the final decicion on the pledge level.

Behold one of the best games of 2016! (Well, this and The 7th Continent, both of which I have on Kickstarter). I printed out the PnP files and put this together in 2 days, pretty quick for a PnP. Had to scrounge pieces from about 6 different games to get the necessary bits, and had to make my own Mech standees and character standees, as there was nothing close to those pieces in my collection. So the Mechs and Characters you see below are supposed to be awesome looking miniatures when the game officially comes out.

From gallery of patton55

So, for me, this takes elements of Viticulture/Agricola (euro-farming stuff) and melds it with a little war/Mech (screw your neighbor stuff). The combat system is straight outta DUNE, you play secret combat cards and put how much power you are going to add to combat secretly, then you and your opponent reveal at the same time, and whoever has the highest total wins the battle.

This game really deals with combat with ducky-bunny-euroy-kid gloves. If you lose a combat, your units (Mechs, Workers, Character) are not destroyed, they just get retreated all the way back to your home space, which can actually be a blessing in disguise sometimes). And winning a combat can have drawbacks, if you win and displace a bunch of your opponents workers, you lose popularity, which is huge in the end game scoring.

The game tries hard to contain your animal instinct to bash your neighbor in the head, which is fine, this game is more about balance and area control, and the THREAT of combat. Because if you are playing with 4-5 players, and you go into a space and bash someone on the skull and win, and use up a lot of power/strength to do it, then the next guy in turn will take advantage of that and then take you out. So, it's better to build up your war strength and have lots of combat cards in hand, and look menacing so no one will screw with you.

From gallery of patton55

This game is a hybrid in the fashion of POLIS and other games that blend the euro/wargame/political/economy. (Polis: Fight for the Hegemony is still king of this hybrid genre, but Scythe is very very good). If you want to go all out Mech war, you certainly can. If you want farm the land and be a man of the people, you can as well. But certainly the best way to win is a balance of those.

And, of course, this has a great solo system, Morten the guy who designed the solo system for Viticulture/Tuscany, has made one for this. My copy will keep me busy until the real thing arrives next fall.

I crafted my own set of the demo too, it's really a good way to feel the mechanism of the game.

I played twice. I stopped the first one because I had too many rules questions then I played another one and succeeded.

Now I wan't to try a different way.

I think this demo can be played 3 or 4 times. Of course I did not look at the terrain cards to avoid being spoiled

1889, an 18xx game, the rules are similar to 1830 on a smaller and terrain-heavy map,2-6 players.
I used foamcore for the tiles and made some modification to the board to make it smaller.

My third pnp build after No Thanks! retheme and Oh My Lair!. Experienced pnp'ers would probably notice the uneven cuts and imperfections in my build but I'm pretty happy how this turned out and hope to improve with future builds.

I own and love the game. However, the artwork and theme feel a little bit too cute after a while. For some reason, the good old MAX PAYNE computer game came back to my mind. Perhaps because I haven't really played any other computer game since then. Perhaps because I still love the atmosphere and the darkness of Max Payne, especially the graphic novel parts of it.

I made a complete retheme for myself, including a setup card to replace the boards, adjusted rules with original quotes and wooden, painted PAINKILLER tokens.

I like the way it turned out:

... or actually Protect the Bismarck! since you work as AA-gunner at the German battleship, trying to gun down British "stringbags" (the RAF pilot's nickname, for the outdated, but very reliable Swordfish biplane) or gun... up(?) the torpedo's those naughty, naughty boys from RAF is sending to you.

No matter what; you can't avoid the Bismarck won't sink, as the game first ends when you do! Each plane and torpedo will give you points. The more points the better.

I am doing the fan-made edition, like the one on the picture. The stuff is printed, but I will remove the wide edges, which also is on my copy, laminate the board (maybe mount it first), and as usual mount the plane and torpedo chits on my outdated business cards for a nice, thickness and sturdy feel. I might even laminate them for security.

A fairly easy PnP project - admitted.
Photos will come when I am done.

Only on planning stage so far - but almost certain to be made as soon as I get my hands on a good printer or some fresh ink!

Looks like a fun game, and it should be "playable anywhere - without a table", because your hand is ALSO your discard pile

It is a card about gnomes farming mushrooms.
They are looking for playtesters, so anyone why fancy giving it a try should follow the thread

Another small project, that I will be doing (almost finished I guess).

The game is made a postcard, but I have chosen to have it on one page instead of duplexed; this way I can see both the game and the rules.

I plan to laminate it, maybe mount it first for extra sturdiness. Then the game will just need components.
I might change some of the components to become just writing on the lamination (with a non-permanent white board pen), to make the game lighter.

The game is free to print and play, as it is being asked to get playtested (so feel free to join!), and is a solitaire version of a multi-player game that is expected to come on Kickstarter - where the solitaire game will be given as promo postcards.

Images and update will follow.

My supply is running low, so started to resupply last week. Made 14 copies to hand out to people in the hope of expanding the hobby. Will continue till the printer's ink runs out.
