Welcome to the 10th Anniversary of the ever popular Secret Santa List. Those who have been here the whole time...has it really been a decade? Time just zips on by. Try as I may, I wasn't creative enough to come up with any super-good 10th anniversary modifications to the list. So...

Finally, it is HERE! Once again, many thanks to Octavian for keeping Secret Santa rolling these last several years. I can't wait to start reading all the Secret Santa entries that will be piling up on this list in the very near future. The standard information/suggestions/comments are as follows:

For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly (in 2014 there were 83 pages with 2072 unique entries to sort through!). (Santas: you may find it convenient to subscribe to your target to see all their activity...not weird at all, trust me... )

To see all of the 9 previous years of this list, and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2014 List"

"2013 List"

"2012 List"

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than just place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there plus your Santa who may be looking for your entry by clicking on your GeekList items from your profile! Listing an item in the comments will simply be missed by many of the readers.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry just makes it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I will add other Secret-Santa related links below. If you have a GeekList or Forum conversation you would like added, send me a GeekMail and I'll add it.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the list! If you are a yearly subscriber, prepare to have your days/weeks/months consumed by checking the new messages for the foreseeable future! Soooo...I think my Santa made a record for fastest Santa of all time! My family and I received tonight 2 (!) games from our Santa!! Not only did we receive the awesome The Castles of Burgundy but those speedy little elves also brought us Jaipur
!!!
AND...he says to expect more!!

EDIT: And what to my wandering eyes should appear...but Mysterium
on a Friday so dear!! Seriously, Santa, you have outdone yourself and then some! Spoiled my family! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

I have a long story to share with him once this is done! One of great appreciation! My profile posts to him so far...

Dear Santa...message #4. We received Mysterium on Friday eve and I just can't thank you enough. This has been a particularly rough year for the entire family...a year of changes and life lessons...and you have brought so much joy to the household. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Dear Santa...message #3! WOW! Tonight we received Jaipur(I have wanted this game for soooooo long) and The Castles of Burgundy (which I hear is AWESOME)! Thank you, thank you, thank you for our early (and very generous) Christmas fun!!

Dear Santa...message #2. Thank you for the kind note and getting us all pumped up for the holidays! P.S....your secret is still safe! We aren't peeking! goo

Dear Santa...thank you ahead of time for any and all effort this year! My family and I get a thrill over the anticipation of what might get delivered! Have a wonderful holiday season and eat all the cookies you want!!!

Was totally surprised to find a package outside at 9:30 at night. With a nice big box and three presents wrapped up inside. Was really confused since I forgot that secret Santa started today and I had no idea what the box was. Big thank you to my secret Santa.

Forgot to mention that I had to get backup secret Santa last year, so totally different experience in my second year of secret Santa. Went from page 80 of look what my Santa got me to number two overall. I think I win for biggest difference in entry number.

(Santa update)
I got a message from one of santa's elfs that another package is being routed my way.

Wow, I definitely had a speedy silent Santa this year. I'd been checking for any messages but hadn't heard anything yet. I came home today to find an Amazon package on my doorstep, I hadn't ordered anything recently so I assumed that it must have been an early Christmas present my wife had ordered. After checking with her (negative) and having her check with other family members (also negative) I was completely confused until my mind settled on the least likely possibility...was this from Santa? My wife opened the package and inside was a wrapped present from Secret Santa!

I double checked for any instructions in my inbox and there weren't any so I enlisted some expert assistance in package opening.

He then proceeded to carry around his prize for about 10 minutes until it eventually ended up in his bed with some of his best friends.

Once he lets us take it I am very excited to play this. Thank you Secret Santa!

It was just a few hours after our targets were assigned, and I received the first e-mail from Santa, and a few follow ups shortly after.

And now nearly 1½ month before Christmas and I have already received my gifts.

And Santa specifically asked me to post pictures of me playing the games, so I just had to open the box:

After taking out 7 Wonders Duel, I had another look in the box, and it was full of snow:

But under all that snow there was another game, and together they look like this:

Hurray for my speedy Secret Santa

Edit:

Santa asked me to post pictures of me playing the games, and this afternoon I managed to play 7 Wonders Duel:

I managed to win with 66 points against 60 points.

Edit:
Unfortunately no picture, but I did play Five Tribes today, and squeezed a victory in with 130 points against 126, 123 and 110 points.

Edit:
Came home from the Christmas vacation in England, and found another package. I thought it would be from my Cthanta, but it was another present from my already generous Secret Santa: The Red Dragon Inn 2

Edit: Turns out it was my present from my RPG Cthanta.

Thank you, thank you, thank you... Secret Santa

Whiehoo!! My secret Santa was very fast this year and also extremely generous I was really hoping to get pandemic legacy and found not only that but also Tobago and the suburbia inc expansion. Thank you so much Santa this will lead to a lot of fun time gaming!

Hope to get Tobago and Suburbia Inc played tomorrow since there will be some friends coming over and need to plan a session for pandemic legacy soon because I cannot wait to play that one

So glad to be part of this amazing event and will do my best to spoil my target as much as I was.

Thanks again Santa you are the best!

#update 1. Was all ready to play Tobago last weekend when I found out that only one of the decks of cards was included in the box! Emailed the publisher and they were very helpful and the missing deck should be on its way. Haha maybe a bit of Friday the 13th after all

From my BGG Secret Santa 2015 with instructions...
1) "Open the First Sunday of Advent"
2) "Open the Second Sunday of Advent"
3) "Open the Third Sunday of Advent"
4) "Don't open until Christmas!"

This is going to be so fun!! I cannot wait to open them and share what they are!

Hope
Love
Joy
Peace

Christ candle for Christmas...this is a mystery I need to solve! What could these wrapped boxes contain!!

Thank you Santa, who ever you may be!!

Edit: First Sunday of Advent 11/29: Advent of Hope

I opened my first gift today! Eeeekkkk it's Eldritch Horror!! My hope of this advent season is to get to play this game with my family/friend and spread some gaming cheer! Thank you Secret Santa! Until next week, thanks a bundle!!

Edit: Second Sunday of Advent 12/6: Advent of Love

So it's 2am here and that means it's Sunday! While cleaning up my game room I grabbed the Second Sunday of Advent gift baggie...what was inside? Fricken Arkham Horror Dice!!! I'm elated!! I immediately put this set on the Plano box assigned to Arkham Horror! I cannot wait to break these bad boys out for a roll or two! This Advent of Love really came through as I greatly LOVE Arkham Horror! Thank you again! Third Sunday coming up!

Edit: Third Sunday of Advent 12/13: Advent of Joy

Edit: Christmas Gift 12/25 (opened 12/13)

It's going to be a busy day and week. Molly is going to see a specialist for a growth that's completely closed off her ear canal so I'm stressed and anxious more than usual. Therefore, I opted to open both my Third Sunday Advent gift and my Christmas Day gift as well. Sorry Secret Santa Anyway, so my Advent gift of Joy on week three was a game I have gone back and forth on. Ghost Stories is a game I've wanted for a while, took off my wishlist, added then removed again. I've questioned this game simply because I've watched videos on play-throughs and the game seems difficult to grasp. Being I took it off my list, I'm actually glad I recieved this game. It'll give me a chance to play it and learn it fairly and unbiased because I didn't "make way for the game myself". This does in fact give me the Advent of Joy. I'm joyous I can attempt to learn something new

Now for the final gift, which I again apologize for Santa, is Friday, a game I have never heard of before. However I'm excited because I have recently been looking for some solo games and this seems viable! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience with BGG Secret Santa and opening my eyes to a couple new things!!

Here's the lot left by Santa

I've got a call yesterday from my friendly gaming store, RedGoblin, about "that order I've placed for those two games". Well, if my memory doesn't play tricks on me, I haven't placed an order with any shops over the last few weeks, so I kindly suggested it might be Secret Santa and his quick elves.

Based on the gentlemen reaction, I had to assume it was indeed Santa, as we both agreed the call didn't happen

Well, no later than this afternoon I get a call from the courier on a package. Haven't open until I got home, to unwrap it with my daughter. Told her she'll have something for herself, had a feeling it will be.

And I was right, along Elysium ...

... there was also the last missing extension from Dixit: Dixit: Memories.

Thanks Santa, and sorry for not making it through until Christmas! I haven't got any hints, so I assumed you wouldn't mind I jump on it and tear it open in no time Happy holidays to you and your loved ones! And may your Santa be just as awesome as mine!!!

Update #1: Well, just when I thought I had a silent-ninja Santa (which are cool Santa's, got a couple of them in the past editions and enjoyed just as much), I've got a GeekMail late at night my time (which leads me to believe me Santa is currently having his deer/elves/gifts crib somewhere in the Americas) where I was told it was OK I've opened up the gifts ... as long as I'll play them by Christmas. Well, consider that done! Dixit is our go-to-game for Christmas with large family count, and believe it or not?!?!, my wife showed interest in Elysium the moment she saw the box. I really hope she'll play it with me during the Christmas Gaming Challenge. And just to show everyone how cool of a Secret Santa I have for the year, he mentioned there should be "a small addition still on it's way". All of these would have been super enough, but no-no-no, my Santa decided to indulge us with an additional something. Such a great and kind Santa, I just hope I'm able to pay all of this forward to my target.

Update #2: What a nice finishing touch to this year's Secret Santa experience . Just got in the mailbox an envelope from BGG store with Elysium Family Cards. Some stunning artwork for this game!

Thanks Santa again! if you are from USA, happy Thanksgiving (as when writing this it's 26th)!

Update #3: This year's Secret Santa was a blast. On top of the great games, I've also got Santa to play the "guess your Secret Santa" game with me. Managed to get it right the first time around I won't post his username as I am not sure he'd like me to do that, but I can tell he's right now living in New Zealand, even though he's originally from the U S of A. Has a partner with a beautiful name and he seems to enjoy thoroughly the new cultural environment he's moved to. Thanks Santa, it's been fun. Me and my family will give these game a go before the year ends, when we'll get together with our families back home for the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays.

It was supposed to be a routine mission - Board the deep-space salvage vessel and deliver a shipment of unexpected supplies in time for Christmas, one of those let-you-know-we're-thinking-of-you gestures from the Company for these poor bastards on Day 791 of their stretch in the black. We homed in on the beacon, and coasted in cold to slip in under their DRADIS and surprise them. Jenkins brought us in beautifully for a hard seal, and we emerged into an empty corridor on the vessel. So far so good.

But deck after deck was deserted. Where was everybody? It was still well before Christmas. Hell, it was still more than a week to Thanksgiving. No reason for so much of the crew to be away from stations. It wasn't until we hit the abandoned CIC that we started to worry. We did a systems check: Life support? Check. Rations and water systems? Check. NavCom, FTL, weapons? All check. Every one of the fighters, lifeboats, and support birds were nestled in their hangers. What is going on?

"Contact!"

It was Ramirez, down in the Med Lab. We heard the tell-tale popcorn of his assault rifle unloading at full prejudice before his comm channel went to static. Two more reports from the scattered search teams met with the same reception within moments; we were losing contact with the crew faster than we could ask what was happening.

At almost the same instant, there was an unmistakable tremor through the ship - an explosive decompression. Klaxons began to wail, warning us of a breach in Airlock 33 - it was where we had docked. I ran down to assess the damage and I found Jenkins there. He was just watching the busted remains of our ship spiral into the void, a maniacal grin on his face and his hand still on the manual-override lever that let him vent our ride. When he noticed me standing there, he turned and fixed me with a stare that will haunt me to my bitter end; I've never seen eyes like that before. He croaked a gleeful sound and leapt toward me, brandishing a length of pipe. I was done...

But then a new and horrible sound screeched from the far side of the corridor, and Jenkins was stopped in his tracks as a mangled claw erupted from his chest. His eyes went wide, but then he just smiled and said "Welcome home, boss." Then that thing - it was like a massive insect built out of nothing but teeth - it pulled Jenkins in and started to feed. I ran back to CIC, sealed the hatch, and started this log. As I update, systems are failing all over the ship. Most of my crew are gone, and I can't risk letting those who remain into the CIC if they go psycho like poor Jenkins. I'm alone, and it won't be long now...

Treacherous crew, menacing aliens, futile odds, and the cold black silence of empty space - it could only mean one thing: Merry Christmas!

Dark Moon and Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game!

Cheers to my very fast, very awesome, and very thematically coordinated Santa.

Dark Moon is a brilliant new Traitor-hunting game that perfectly bridges the depth of BSG and the raw deduction of The Resistance. It also happens to be the non-IP face of "BSG Express", which makes total sense.

Death Angel is a frantic battle in the deserted halls of a massive, derelict ship, and is widely hailed as one of the best solitaire games around (for those days when the rest of your crew was infected or devoured by Genestealers). And a further coincidence - it was designed by the same person who created the Battlestar Galactica board game - Corey Konieczka. Good times.

So thank you very much, Santa! This holiday season will be a warm and wonderful time of family and good games - tempered by the bitter chill of space and the knowledge that any one of them could turn on me at any moment devil

May you have a very Merry Christmas!

*signing off*

So I was completely surprised finding a box in front of my door when I came home from work.

I must have been a good boy, so Santa used his racing-sled to bring me my gift early this year!

It's my first BGG Secret Santa and I'm so happy I decided to participate this year.

First I was going to wait for Christmas to open the package, but i realized I needed a game to add to this list. It's a big box, so I'm hoping for more than one gift
I decided to cut open the box, grab -eyes shut- the first thing in there and close it back up. AND: SPACE ALERT! I've never played it, but I enjoy coop-games and also real time games (played Escape, Zombie'15 and XCOM). So I guess I'll love this game.
And the best thing: Shaking the box tells me, I'm in for a second treat on December 24th (we open gifts on christmas eve in Germany).

So now all is back in the box and ready to be put under the christmas tree!

Thank you Secret Santa!!!

I got a message from my Santa almost immediately. The Big Claus wrot this:

"It comes as no secret that Santa likes to give gifts but this Santa likes to start the party early. Gift #1 is on the way....Enjoy the early Christmas over your Thanksgiving dinner."

This is amazing fast! I got a message Thursday saying a package would be here Friday. And I'm enough of a 6 year old that I actually left work early to see if it had arrived, and it did!

I tore it open immediately (I hope that's ok - I have no willpower and made some assumptions based on the note above!), and found the Secrets expansion for Castles of Mad King Ludwig. This is one of the games I've enjoyed quite a bit since getting it, and it's a favorite of both my wife and son, so it has lots of table time opportunities!

Thank you, Santa, thank you, thank you, thank you!

11/14 - another Amazon package. I had to wait until company left to open it, but I was off like a flash once they were gone, and I found Sushi Go!, which I immediately made my family play. Really nice light card drafting game - a perfect weeknight game for sure, or when you need to kill 15 minutes waiting for that last player to show up.

Thanks again, Santa! You've gone above and beyond!

11/17 - On November 15th, I got the following message from my Santa: "The joy of Christmas continues to spread. A week from Monday another game should be there. I hope you and your family enjoy the next surprise and you are ready for what I affectionately call Thanks"games"day." I'm thinking I've got the best Santa ever. At any rate, I went home at lunch today, and there was an Amazon package on my doorstep. I didn't think much of it, since the email said a week from Monday, and I had ordered some rock salt from Amazon. I opened the box to throw it in the cupboard, but was there any rock salt? No, instead there was this:

I'm just flabbergasted, honestly. My son just expressed his dismay last week that I still hadn't bought this expansion. We've played a lot of Pandemic, and we're all looking forward to the additional challenges this expansion brings to the table.

Seriously, Santa, I'm truly blown away by your generosity, and it is much much MUCH appreciated!

Well I managed it! I managed to hold out over a month and a half until Christmas Day! What should I find inside the mysterious box? Only a blooming' Flash Point Fire Rescue extravaganza!!

Not only the Extreme Danger expansion but 2nd Story and Vet/Dog characters too! Needless to say this has brought a huge amount of variation to the game now and I know my daughters will be fighting over who plays the dog!!

Many thanks again to my Santa for your amazing generosity, whoever you are!

**Original Post Below**

Okay, NOT THAT Christmas in a box but who knows what may be inside it? The box has arrived in super fast time, thanks Santa...

I am going to try and maintain the willpower to allow me to open it on Christmas morning after I get back from work. This will also allow me to maintain the moral high ground on all of you people who have opened them straight away and SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!

By means of some anorexically light entertainment, here is the box:

Any guesses as to what the contents might be??

A very quick Santa this year...

Friday the 13th was not very good for me since we had to deal with house repairs again... My wife and I are not lucky this year on that matter, even had to cancel a gaming con yuk

But a nice gift just came in today which made both of us smile and forget our current bad luck

Thx a lot for your generosity Santa, as always your timing was perfect!!

PS: Got the blue box... as i wanted! meeple

Wow! Fastest Santa yet and I am on the 1st page of the Geeklist - woohoo!

I arrived home to find 3 beautiful (and large) packages from my Secret Santa. Each has a personalized note with a hint - now I just have to try and figure out the hints.

I have not heard from my Silent Santa, so I am not sure whether he wants me to wait to open them or not. I am actually going to spend 3 days with my brother next week and we love to game. So, if I don't hear anything from my Santa, I will probably rip these bad boys open. (I know, I am weak.)

The notes are just too much fun, now to guess what they are...

Santa - your generosity is so appreciated and I hope this holiday is truly wonderful for you and yours.

-Meredyth

Edit:
I opened the presents so I could learn any rules before going to see my family for the weekend.

I received Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar. I am really excited about this one because it looks like a great med-heavy game and I want to paint the gears. I have already been reading a fascinating book about traditional colors used in ancient Mayan sculpture. The materials and minerals that were abundant created deep reds, so most sculptures were limestone washed in red. Should be the easiest paint job ever!!!

I also got Power Grid: The Robots. I have been wanting the expansion forever. I love Power Grid and the ability to play it 2 players is wonderful. I would probably have never gotten around to buying this for myself.

That's not all! I also got Nations: The Dice Game and have already played a game. This is the perfect weight game to play with the family over the holidays. It's a great weeknight "civ builder".

Thanks Santa - you chose perfectly!

Thanks, Santa! I hope Cavity Sam has health insurance... he's gonna need it.

Christmas Day Update:
The four mysterious items in excellent Star Wars wrapping were opened! As it turns out, none of the boxes contained horsemen of the Apocalypse. Instead, Santa's incredible generosity welcomed the following games to my home:

Five Tribes
Five Tribes: The Artisans of Naqala
Merchants & Marauders
Pandemic: On the Brink

Santa, thank you so, so much. I can't wait to get friends and a babysitter over here to get this party started!
