Just printing and playing - no crafting involved here.

There is a 7th sea kickstarter going on and I backed, thus getting access to the QS rules.
For me as a designer they are pretty interesting for two reasons:
The mechanics with their "raises" (additions of dice that lead to successes), and the combat mechanic that allows handling of masses of "goons"!
Very nice stuff to toy with!
And yet another inspiration for my own games

I couldn't wait to build this one, and play it, and it's as good a game as it's gorgeous, kudos to you Todd.

- Crashland from Todd too

Requested and received the playtest files for Todd's latest and greatest, Boxing Clever.

Cards are the only components, so now to cut and sleeve a rough and ready deck to see if the game lives up to the stunning public domain art and Todd's usual attention to graphic design detail.

Photos and feedback to follow once I've, you know, actually built and tried the thing . . .

Board scan came from the files section. 4 of the dice come from the game Qwixx, which I was able to find in a thrift store yesterday. I got the purple die from my FLGS. Cubes are the bulk plastic ones that are widely available. The "Ra" figure is a Hedwig mini from a Scene It. Everything fits in a box the size of a Munchkin box (non-deluxe size)

What I want to do is make a game board using scrabble tiles and painting the back with their color and symbol.

Anyway, this is a really fun game. I'd love to buy it for real but the inflated secondary market is a bit steep.

I would buy a reprint in a heartbeat.

I am currently working on a retheme of this with dragon ball z characters. I'm redesigning the cards from the ground up only using the numbers and abilities. I'm almost through Grave - Goku. I'll post some picks of the cards this weekend.

I made an Onitama "expansion" for my Ninja Versus Ninja Game.

Board Game: Onitama

I just spray mounted an Onitama board onto the back of my NvN board, printed out the 15 cards, and stuck the rules sheet into the NvN rule book.

Board Game: Onitama

It just seemed like a sweet fit and takes up no extra room on the shelf.

This is a game I remember from my teenage years (original release 1992) that was webpublished and a few printed copies was sold. It was a big thing at that time and I played it a lot at conventions and with friends and family. I've been trying for ages to get hold of either a copy of the game or the PnP-files for it with little luck.

Since I am not an artist by training, I used crafting the pnp version of this game as something of a skill Builder in learning some tools in Inkscape.

I liked the board made by another BGG-er, so I made one similar. I also had trouble accepting that one of the locations was called "La Mancha" as it was geographically in the wrong place, so I changed the name to a mountainous region in the approximate location (Guadarrama)

I will post picks of the final product tonight!

Hi Team! Long time. I've been busy for what feels like six months or more. Thankfully, I've had the opportunity to game more.

Here's my most recent project-- Pet Shop. Joe reformatted everything to 8.5x11 from the original 11x17 files. Easily printed everything off, ordered more Ultra Pro card sleeves, and plan on assembling this next weekend. I will snap a shot when I'm done.

I am putting together the retheme done by Todd Sanders of this great game.
So far I am halfway done in printing out the massive amount of cards this game has (655).
The map is done.
Chits are printed but need mounted and cut.
Player aids are printed out and need laminated.
Rules are done and bound.

Will get some photos up.

- Boxing Clever

Just from watching the files, the game looks beautiful, but after printing, laminate and cutting, and the sleeves fit like a glove, the final result is awesome. Looking forward to try it tonight.

I got this crafted two ways. One was my regular printing, laminating and cutting the cards. For the other, I mounted the unit cards on cardboard and put them in card sleeves. This way they are easier to move around. I want to find a way other than sleeves to keep the cardboard version clean though. Any suggestions?

The game is quite nice and you do not appreciate how much thinking it takes until you start playing. We enjoyed it and will definitely play again.

March must be the month of Todd.

A single page to print, but I used this to test coating paper with lacquer. I've heard of people using this technique for making cards to give them a nice finish. Fairly happy with how it turned out, still waiting to see if the odor completely dissipates.

Mounted on 2 sheets of 110 lb card stock (effectively 220 lb) and rules are on the reverse.

This is the first of five games I made for this G4GG listing to benefit the Solo design contest - the winner of the contest in 2011.

I technically finished each game in the early days of March, so here we are.

First up, the box:

From gallery of Bichatse

From gallery of Bichatse

(I'll post the template files for these boxes in the files for the relevant game entries soon, I just need to clean them up a bit for public consumption.)

Group components shot:

From gallery of Bichatse

The tokens in this game are all 35mm wooden tokens that I salvaged from a cheap balance-the-pretend-coins-on-the-pretend-bottle 'traditional' wooden game, with die-cut labels on each side.

From gallery of Bichatse

I have a load of spare pawns from various game salvage, so I sculpted a little hat on one of them to represent the eponymous inspector and gave it a matching paint job. I may have needed to shake the mini paints a little bit more before using them.

From gallery of Bichatse

There's a nice little geeklist of character backgrounds for the game, so I borrowed that to make a little Character Guide booklet to go with the game.

From gallery of Bichatse

It's... shamelessly full of puns.

From gallery of Bichatse

The last and most important step is giving the game a good test. Just to make sure I didn't forget any pieces, you understand!

It turns out Sue Phlaye dunnit.

This is the second of five games I made for this G4GG listing to benefit the Solo design contest - the winner of the contest in 2012.

First, a box:

I had to basically make two lids for this box (and the Inspector Moss one above) and then glue a lining of stiff card to the base to provide something for the top lid to slide down. There's a limit on how tall an A5 box you print on A4 paper can be, and it turns out that anything over 20mm tall is pretty much out. That's fine for a lot of games, and easily allows a couple of decks of cards and a board, but when you start including a bajillion dice and cubes and stuff on top of that, you need a taller box sooner or later!

I discovered during building this game that I don't have nearly so many d10s as I thought I had! I only have about six left, after sending two off with this! Well, six regular d10s and about a billion percentile d10s. I may give AliExpress a try, I guess...

This game also uses a lot of d6s, but I have many many of those.

This is basically the same as the build I did of Ilya's redesign for myself a while back; in fact, I had to borrow the soldier pieces from that, 'cause the red spray I used to paint the blocks didn't cover as well as I expected. I'll need to start again with a white base and make some more to replace the ones from my set, next!

And finally, testing it out with a comfortable win on the default difficulty.

Embarrassingly, this is actually my second game after my first one ended on the first turn thanks to a bit of a careless risk!

This is the fourth of five games I made for this G4GG listing to benefit the Solo design contest - the winner of the contest in 2014.

First up, another box:

A close-up of the wooden pieces:

the black edges here are a bit unfortunate, since black toner chips off relatively easily and with such small labels it's not really plausible to use the usual trick of colouring them in with a marker - the ink would bleed right into the paper of the label and ruin it.

One of the bits I liked the best about this build was the coloured card cores, which I think worked particularly well with the bright colours of the card backs. Here, the customer cards all use a blue core for the cards (blue cardstock, not to be confused with 'bluecore'), meaning that the deck looks blue from the side rather than white:

Lastly, a test game:

which I did OK on!

Building this for this G4GG listing made me realise that I haven't actually made myself a nice copy of this game. I'm not usually a fan of beat-your-high-score solo games, but I do quite like this one - it's a great implementation of the "balancing act" tension that underlies a lot of co-ops, even though the possibility of actually losing is more or less removed a round or two in - you just have to contend with not doing so well as last time instead.

This is the fifth of five games I made for this G4GG listing to benefit the Solo design contest - the winner of the contest in 2015.

The Austerity box is slimmer than all the others:

The newspaper-articles-about-prominent-game-design/PnP-BGG-members theme continues around the back cover:

And a test game, in which I drew the scenario and country at random, and got a pretty easy combination:

Black-n-white, cool art, fun theme... so this one has been on my "to do" list for awhile.

I finally got around to making up a quick English-language version, just to try it out.

After just one play, my son and I came up with a couple ideas to make the design a little better, but sadly the game itself seems kinda "meh", so we won't bother.

Maybe it lost something in the translation from the German? I dunno.
