As all reputable doomsayers know, the signs are everywhere. A plague of deckbuilders, nobody getting wood for sheep anymore, Australia is no longer the linchpin of world domination, the game pages have changed and you can't find that post with that link to download that retheme-- you know the one.

Anyway, for those not in the know I present this less than comprehensive list of horrible harbingers of the Last Days as foretold by that guy who played that knight in the third Indiana Jones movie whose best line was "You have chosen...poorly." Yeah, THAT guy. And he should know, he'd been sitting in that cave with a pile of fake grails that he got cheap from a cup merchant in Jerusalem for almost a thousand years playing solo games and playtesting this game about the crusades that looked a lot like Ortus Regni but with better art.

Well, if you don't believe him then these signs, not M. Night Shyamalan signs like wierd aliens that are foiled by an asthma inhaler and Mel Gibson's prejudices but real world is ending stuff, should convince you to hold on to your dice tower and kiss your Astra Titanus goodbye.

Martin Wallace designs a zombie game.

Master of thematic strategy meet the most strategically puerile theme of the 21st century. It's as if Martin Scorsese decided to direct the next Twlight movie.

It's a deck building card game about buying cards and building a deck. It's like deck building has jumped a shark that was jumping over another shark.

It's a game that you can only play once because after that you know the story. The replayability comes in because you have to play through the cards three times to get all the stuff you need because it isn't solvable the first time through. So the idea is that you're so sick of replaying the same cards over again by the end that you're actually a bit relieved at the end that it was your last time playing with those cards.

The #1 party game discourages talking, laughing or any other party shenanigans. In fact the crux of the game is arguing over whether or not hot dog is a legal one word clue.

This is no longer the #1 game on BGG. And the game that replaced it is not a My Little Pony retheme.

My first ever bad trade on here where someone outright stole a game from me since they never sent one back or responded. Then the redesign made this site a broken eyesore and now the admins are trivializing the issue with snarky things like this in their news letters. The attitude and sense of community has changed drastically and not for the better. I've unsubscribed to the news letter though I still check the site daily to see if I can use it again

What else for the end of the world? Be the last to die and win. Have surviving population and be the target in the next game. Get all 4 sets and the booster packs to really destroy the world.
Other possibilities include Pandemic, especially The Cure version, and Plague and Pestilence.
Armageddon seems to have great potential, but is actually about the beginnings of war, not the last one.
If there's a "giant meteor is going to destroy the world" game, that would fit. Hmm, I can convert some of the excess propaganda cards from a combined Nuclear War set! Bwa-ha-HA!devil

For the video gamers out there, we are scraping by in a hellish landscape where "it's just like Dark Souls" is an eldritch incantation inflicting upon the listener painful boils and lesions, silencing all conversation and criticism.

I pray for the future of board games where creatures most foul will be summoned by the call "This game is really hard. It's like Dark Souls!"
