Game Premise:
Centuries before cities emerged in the Fertile Crescent, you and your fellow nobles, the first of the long-lived Atlantean kings, led the rise of the first human civilizations--on the continent Atlantis. Can you create the most noteworthy civilization of Atlantis, before the Deluge washes it from history?

Design Premise:
Inspired by Guns, Germs, and Steel. The technology trees of most civilization games provide too much agency over innovation, at least for ancient civilizations. Innovation was more often a product of local resources and labor specialization (i.e., people not spending all their time looking for food).

The island of Thera is gone! It is said the destruction of the heart of the Minoans civilization was where the tales of Atlantis sprung from - that they took too much pride in their creations and so the gods punished them, sinking their island beneath the Aegean waves.

The gods did not destroy everything. Sometimes, when the wind is right, and the tide comes in, artifacts from Thera wash up on the shores of Crete. Artifacts which have become all the more priceless now that the civilization they are from is gone. And yet the gods would prefer the artifacts are left untouched...

The city of Atlantis is sinking beneath the waves! As a responsible citizen what do you do? Clearly saving as much of the city's fabled treasure from the rising sea is a worthy endeavour.

You and your rivals must push your luck in order to claim the most valuable items of treasure, while trying to avoid sea monsters or getting stranded beneath the rising tide.  Whoever has the greatest value of treasure at the end of the game will be the winner.
