I've played this one three times now and was the traitor twice. To me, this game is nothing but a set of tedious and repetitive mini-games with a not very interesting traitor mechanic. Just the mere suggestion of playing this game makes me cringe!
"In Soviet Russia, game plays you!" or something like that. Seriously though, have never felt like I had less to do in a game. The theme isn't my cup of tea either but the mechanics are where this falls flat for me.
It's hard to not let your feelings for a game be impacted by your success at them. Risk is one of those that I've never managed to figure out the strategy for (if there is one) and seems to always punish me with unfavorable dice rolls.
Note: Risk Legacy was a different story - the development over time and the fact that everyone suffered more or less equally meant that it was more funny than sad.
I've played this several times but not for a number of years. To be honest, it's been long enough I can't even remember why I didn't like it - probably should try it again - but to this day beans make me gassy and prone to falling asleep.
As it was for many, this was the first "modern" board game I played and it opened my eyes to the potential of the medium. That said, it didn't take playing many other games to realize that this game just isn't fun unless you derive pleasure from feeling like your friends hate you.
