Here's another list by me looking for some help. My girlfriend suggested that she'd like to play Clue (Cluedo to her, she's English). But us Geeks want something with more meat. As mentioned in my previous 'list, I've got at least 2 other people to play with most (but not all of the time). Therefore, I'm looking for a game:
1. At least kind of similar to Clue.
2. Playable with 2 or more
3. 2 Hour time limit - my girlfriend gets bored unless the game is really action packed.

The first list I tried was a hit and introduced me to some games we're starting to play. Lets see if we can't do the same thing here.

This is the game you want. Nice and quick, but it's really the best deduction game out there. Similar style to clue in that you have cards and ask questions, just a little more complex. No board to speak of.

This one isn't bad if you have a lot of players. It's definitely fast, but the card passing mechanic gets a little crazy. It also forces you to give away information. Not a ton of control. I wouldn't think of playing it again with any less than 4. 6 would be a better starting point.

I also really like this one, because you don't have to have the entire mystery solved in order to win.

This is a bit of a stretch - a game that looks like Cluedo, but is quite different.

In Kill Doctor Lucky, you are not wandering around a house trying to work out who killed the host; you are wandering around a house trying to actually kill the host. I think of it as "what happened just before Cluedo started".

Great fun, anyway.

A great dedeuction game for 3 or 4. You spend half of the game trying to figure out what player is your partner, and the last half trying to accomplish your goal.

Would an actual detective game work? CD is not an abstract deduction game, but is a theme-rich mystery clue-piecing game. Most players will play it as a cooperative game, but it can be played multi-player solitaire. Cooperation is fun, as you must decide (read: argue) within the group the best place to find the next clue, since you must minimize the number of locations you consult to win the game.

This might work for you. It has a 'clue' element to it (you have to determine the three skills needed to defeat the bad guy, very similar to determining the room, weapon, and culprit in clue). It is really meant for three, but plays 2-4. Playing time can vary, but you should be able to get through it in 2 hours most times (maybe not the first time or two, when you're still checking and re-checking the character abilities).

For times when you only have two players, you might want to try this game. One player is Dracula and the other is Van Helsing. Each is searching London for a set of treasures owned by the other player (Dracula's coffin's and Van Helsing's victims). The players have to move about London, look at cards and battle enemies laying in wait for them. At times, players may need to pick up their cards and move them around to keep them away from the other player.
