In July I made a giant 3D version of Bruno Faidutti's wonderful card game Dragon's Gold.

The 60-inch board displayed five dragon lairs with trails leading up to them. The monsters themselves were, of course, painted miniatures, with their strength (and treaasure levels) denoted by a pair of dice. Wooden discs were replaced with acrylic gems for the treasures.

Each player had color-coded miniatures for their adventuring team, a mat with unique illustrations of their tavern and tower (indicating whether an adventurer was ready or not), and a treasure chest to store their treasures.

You can read Bruno's opinion of it on his blog, and see more photos here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/23335371#23335371

For playing Burgle Bros. you have to set out a grid of 4x4 tiles three times to make up the different floors of the building. Sometimes these can move around or bump.

So I made these boards to hold the tiles in place. I designed a tiled floor pattern like an office building might have. Then used tile spacers to create the stops to to hold each tile into place. The floor pattern is mounted onto foam core and then the three boards can stack when not in use, but also can be moved around on the table (or the game taken down and "saved") as necessary.

In addition, print and fold wall sections used to create barriers between rooms are included and feature wall art and other decor.

I've been slowly, very slowly painting the miniatures for this game. I'm starting with the heroes so if I lose steam I'll at least have those done!

These were my first minis made in resin instead of the hard plastic from the core sets. They were hard to glue since they had some small parts, required some cleanup, and acrylic based primer doesn't stick to them. Not fun to prep. But, they are great to paint. The details on the resin heroes is far, far better then the core set heroes. Clean cuts and lines mean you can easily make out the guns and accessories, shirts, skin, belts, etc.

Old School Tactical has a very large board and several tracks are spread all around the border for tracking various points. As many scenarios take place in just a small section of the map, it was a pain to reach around the board to adjust/see all those markers. Especially playing solo.

So I created this side board which fits on a single 8.5x11" sheet of cardstock and makes the counters more accessible.

Flying Pig Games (the Publisher) liked these so much they created their own version for Volume 2 when it's released: http://flyingpiggames.com/products/neoprene-play-mats-for-ol...

They explained everything in detail and at great length. After they finished I sat, despondent, contemplating a bleak and empty future. "I’m glad you’re depressed" said one. "It means you’ve understood the situation.”

Are these the droids you're looking for?

C3PO's red arm dates from a later period than Imperial Assault but is rather fun nonetheless

My 9x9 Go board. Like another entry I made in a previous month, this is made from discarded broom sticks and furniture. The lines are actually cut into the board and are nice to touch. All the "stones" were manually sanded, which was a very very bad idea. It took me several hours and gave me RSI. I'm using an electric sander from now on. Also, notice those cute tins. I just happened to have them around, and they were the perfect size. Too bad I'll have to ditch them when I grow up to 13x13.

Also, I felt like I had to use the other side for something. So I made a GIPF board. Not that I'm particularly interested in GIPF, but its board doubles as 4x4 and 5x5 hex boards. At first I tried drawing with white paint on the dark side of the board, but I made it too small. So I covered it with paper and drew on that. You can see the old white lines beyond the paper if you look closely, and that's kinda charming.
