I will use this geeklist to keep track of games played in 2017, along with making comments, posting gameplay reports and pics, etc. I will be including board games, RPGs, and video games in this list.

Every time I complete a play, I will add a to the top of the game entry on this geeklist. Also, I am listing each play of a particular game with a number, counting up: d10-1, d10-2, d10-3, and so on. Neither the stars or the numerals denote any rating or judgement of the game.

There is a fairly good chance that I will forget to record some plays, or just get tired of doing it and stop (like I did halfway through 2016 and then had to try to tally everything up at the end of the year based on memory, the help of people I played with, and the Yucata.de record). whistle

This list is also for me to keep track of games played for the
2017 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each Challenge

http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/218459/2017-challenge-play...

which is run by Sarah Reed (SilvaShado) and her helpers.

Here is the link for my official 2017 entry:

https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/218459/item/5095148#item5...

And here are links to my geeklists from the past few years:
Jude's 10 Games 10 Times Challenge for 2016 (and other games played, too)
Jude's 10 Games 10 Times Challenge for 2015 (and other games played, too)
Jude's 10 Games 10 Times Challenge for 2014

Note that I am not naming particular games ahead of time since I am entering only the Normal Challenge, not the Hardcore one.

Normal Challenge Games COMPLETED:

1. Uno -- 10th game completed on February 25, 2017
2. Starving Artists -- 10th game completed on March 6, 2017

Played solo using 2 or more heroes unless stated otherwise.

January 25, 2017
I created a long story adventure a few days ago with custom quests and tile set-ups. I am still working out the details as I play it. I might post the details with pics later (maybe in a separate geeklist or session report thread) and if so, I will post the link here (or maybe the whole session report).

My heroes (Archer, Acolyte, and Soldier) are beginning this adventure with no titles or deck manipulations, only starting equipment (except the Archer has a green item Longbow already equipped), and the treasure bag is the basic set-up (30 white and 15 green tokens). I am using components (tiles, monsters, treasure, merchants, etc.) potentially from among all the expansions and promos I have so far, but especially from, in addition to the base game, skeletons, the Shores of Kanis and the Blackwall Warrens expansions, and the Realm Tile expansion.

The story starts with the Archer and her friends arriving to attend an archery competition in a faraway land, but they are stranded on the shore when the sailors from the boat spot giant crayfish approaching and hurriedly row back to the ship which then leaves, abandoning the heroes.

d10-1 I played the first tile this evening: Stranded on a Faraway Shore!
Board Game: Myth

The heroes had to survive attacks and clear the tile of a lair of Crawlers. The Archer and Soldier both took damage (the Soldier, at one point, was down to 2 Vitality while also poisoned, but luckily he had found an Anti-Venom Potion and also got some healing from the Acolyte).

After gaining their rewards for clearing the tile (including some decent equipment and some potions), the heroes are prepared to enter the building that was to house the contestants and their guests, as well as the hosts and judges. It is the only building in sight except for the arena where the contest was to take place.

January 28, 2017
d10-2 I played the second tile of my custom "Archery Contest" adventure on Saturday: The Contest has been Canceled!
Board Game: Myth

The heroes find destruction and carnage in the building, and the giant crayfish are scavenging the bodies of the contestants, guests, hosts, and also several green alligator-type people. There are still some live gator people looting a container of gems, but upon seeing the heroes, they turn and run through a side exit and escape down a steep stairwell.

The quest instructions I created for this tile are a bit complicated, so I may revise them a bit (or at least clarify them better). But playing it as I wrote it, my heroes decided to stay and clear the tile of the giant crayfish (Crawlers with a lair) before following the gator people (Snappa, 2 of which they defeated before the rest escaped). During the course of the battle, 2 Stalker captains spawned to make the fight more dangerous (my Archer and Soldier were both badly wounded and the Archer was poisoned, but with the help of the Acolyte and some potions, they were mostly recovered by time the tile was cleared). A merchant appeared and told them that he'd seen other survivors scatter in all directions during the attack of the gator people, but that he intended to wait, maybe in the contest arena, until another ship arrived.

February 15, 2017
d10-3 I played the third tile of my custom "Archery Contest" adventure: What's That Smell?

One of the advantages of creating my own story quests is that I can ignore/change the icon requirements and the set up areas of a tile to create interesting situations for my adventurers to face. The previous two tiles were from the Shores of Kanis expansion, and this tile is from the Blackwall Warrens expansion (as is the mini-boss).

The gator people minions are those that escaped the previous tile and have now found their intended exit (the drain hatch) occupied by something they don't wish to deal with! They turn to retreat, only to find their path blocked by the incoming heroes!

Board Game: Myth

This is a tough quest with a difficult to beat mini-boss that also has the ability to steal melee weapons and ammo, capture heroes, and to regenerate by absorbing minions. But there is an option for the heroes to escape the tile without having the monsters follow them, and although this will cause the heroes to fail the quest they will be able to continue the adventure.

If the party clears the tile, the quest rewards include a Serendipity point, a blue item draw, plus a deck manipulation for each hero, with the option that one of the heroes can choose to swap in the "Gotta Get Those Ducats" promo card.

===

At this point (after tile 3 of the "Archery Competition" Story quest) my party has the following status:

Archer: Sentinel Bow (blue), Leather Armor, Amulet of Courage.
Potions: 1 Anti-Venom, 1 Major Vitality.
(Not equipped: Longbow)
3 Ammo Readied
Swapped out "To the Knee" card for "Pincushion" Green-flame card.

Acolyte: Shield of Light.
Potions: 1 Focus
Swapped out "Blessings of the Dawn" card for "Angelic Word" Green-flame card.

Soldier: Cuirass, Helm, Mythical Cloak.
Potions: 1 Anti-Venom, 1 Major Vitality.
Swapped out "Your Mother is a Crawler" card for "Gotta Get Those Ducats" Yellow-flame Promo card.

All Heroes are at maximum health and have no status effects.

Coins = 5
Serendipity = 1
Darkness Track = 2 AP

February 16, 2017
PENDING: "Archery Competition" custom adventure, tile 4: The Trail Upstream.
I set this one up, but didn't get a chance to play it.

A.K.A. Rocket Bowl

Played on my Mac. This game is a lot of fun. With a 1950s sci-fi themed background, this game uses rocket-powered bowling balls on complex outdoor "lanes" (more like a golf course).

May 17, 2017
d10-1 I started a new campaign game. So far I have won 1st place on the 1st lane's tournament after playing some free play and some challenges (but still using the original, unenhanced bowling ball), thus unlocking the 2nd lanes tournament. But instead of moving on right away, I played the 1st tournament again (again placing 1st) to gain enough winnings to purchase a pretty good rocket ball.

This is a co-op game which can also be played solo using one or more characters (Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Uhura). Although the images are based on the recent movie(s), the theme of the missions seem closer to the original Star Trek TV show.

I've played it co-op before and was rather disappointed both because it seemed rather bland and there was only one set of missions included. The expansion, which I also own, does not add any more missions although it allows the choice of three different characters (Scotty, Sulu, and Chekhov)

May 23, 2017
d10-1 I played a solo game, using all 4 base game characters, at the middle "Starship Captain" difficulty level which uses the blue and yellow sections of the Stardate cards, but not the red section.
It was okay. Better than I remembered (now that my expectations aren’t as high for it), but still rather fiddly and bland... I may play it again at some point. There is more replayability than I expected, too because only 6 location supplemental log cards out of the deck are used each game, which means that there is a good chance of getting different ones (and combinations) each game.

Captain Level Score: 38 -- "You are the proud recipient of the Prenatares Ribbon of Commendation." I almost ran out of time on the track, and the Enterprise took a beating, but otherwise, I didn't have much trouble with the challenges from the logs. McCoy came in handy with his medical skill (for challenges) and his healing action (for other characters).

All games played solitaire unless stated otherwise.

July 7, 2017
d10-1
Since this was my first play of the Star Trek: Panic game. I used the beginner "Cadet" set-up: only two missions are used (Distress Signal, Outpost Defense) and both must be successfully completed, then the board must be cleared of any threats that were on it when the last mission was completed. (Normally 5 missions must be completed, no matter how many are failed.)

I played a solo game, choosing Sulu and Scotty as my crew.

1st Mission: Distress Signal - Success
A Supernova turned my ship completely around just before the turn that I was going to complete the mission! The Corbomite Maneuver card (used twice because of a Time Travel card) really helped, as did Sulu's double maneuver ability. Scotty rescued the disabled ship, completing the first mission with the countdown timer on 2. But the reward didn't benefit me because Scotty had already repaired a shield with his ability, and the destroyed shield wasn't eligible to be fixed by that reward.

Status: One mission completed. Port shield down, but no hull damage. One Klingon Bird of Prey drawn into sector 3, but there were no other threats at this point.

2nd Mission: Outpost Defense - Success
Completed by destroying the Orion Raider when the countdown timer was on 2 (by Scotty). Scotty and Sulu continued to attack other threats although no new ones were drawn because the final mission had been completed for this game (only these 2 missions are used in the "Cadet" beginner's game).

Status at "clean-up" phase in which the Enterprise must survive while removing all remaining threats from the board (turns are still taken as normal):
Three threats remained: Klingon Battle Cruiser, Koloth's Battle Cruiser, Klingon Bird of Prey (with cloaking ability). Starboard shield was down and Port shield was damaged. No hull damage.

Final Status: I won.
Both crew members had a hand of cards that were mostly worthless, targeting the farther areas of the board where there were no longer any threats (maneuvering to "retreat" is not allowed in this game, unless I missed something in the rules). I did manage to get in a couple of hits, and the abilities of Sulu and Scotty kept the ship from taking too much damage (although 4 shields were down at the end of the game). But the Security Team cards (which any crew can play at any time, even during another player's turn) saved the ship from hull damage while the enemy ships destroyed themselves while trying to send boarding parties onto the Enterprise (by ramming? in the vacuum of space? )

Pretty fun game, especially for a Star Trek fan. Next time I play, I will be using the full-length game rules.

July 8, 2017
d10-2 For my second play of Star Trek: Panic, I used the full-length standard set-up of playing until 5 random missions are completed, then clearing the board of the remaining threats to win.

I played a solo game, choosing Spock, Sulu, and Chekov as my crew.

Mission 1: The Changeling -- Completed

Mission 2: The Doomsday Machine -- Completed

Mission 3: Mysterious Ship -- Completed (Barely in time!)

Mission 4: Search and Rescue -- Completed

Mission 5: The Enemy Within -- FAILED! (The countdown timer ran out and I needed to place one more medical symbol card.)

Mission 6: The Trouble With Tribbles -- Completed (5th completed mission!)

No new threats were drawn after completing 5 missions, but I still needed to clear the board of the threats already there.

My ship took a lot of damage during the game, but my crew managed to repair/rebuild it enough so that I didn't lose maneuverability. Turning the ship to protect the vulnerable areas helped some, too. I did have to take some cards out of the game because of excess damage to the hull. I was lucky to be able to use some of the mission rewards and a starport for repairs, also.

Sulu and Chekov made a good team with their abilities (an extra maneuver, and one extra damage using one Phaser Hit card, respectively). Spock's ability came in handy occasionally (draw 3 threats, choose 2), but since the 3rd threat was just returned to the draw bag rather than be discarded, it wasn't very powerful of an ability, especially since after the completion of five missions, when no more threats were being drawn, it was useless.

Final Status: I won!
5/6 missions completed.
4/6 shields destroyed.
2/6 hull sections destroyed, plus one more damaged.

(Version 2)
NOTE: After playing the game solo several times, I have come up with house rules to increase the difficulty. So, the solo game, using my house rules, should played differently than the multi-player game in the following ways (also, there are clarifications gotten from the designer about rules that are used in both types of games):

• Use a deck of only 30 random cards. The best way to do this is to remove 2 of the "0" (zero) point cards before creating three 30 card decks (which will allow for 3 games with different cards each game).

• Extra Food only provides, randomly drawn from the Paint bag and added directly to the artist's studio, 2 cubes per extra food, not 4. These cubes do not count towards the number of paints allowed to be drawn from the Paint Market after a sale, and may be taken before drawing from the Paint Market.

• End of Game: After adding up all the "Star" points from the completed paintings, subtract the number of "Star" points from the uncompleted paintings in the solo player's studio, to get the final score to compare to the Scoring chart, below.

• Scoring (revised) based on "Star" points of completed paintings minus the "Star" points of uncompleted paintings in your studio:
0-9: Lost and Forgotten
10-14: Poor and Obscure
15-19: Recognized and Acknowledged
20-24: Famous (or Infamous!) and Popular
25 or more: Renowned and Remembered

Here are some reminders and clarifications(provided by the designer) of the solo play rules:

• The solo player begins the game with 6 randomly drawn Paint cubes in her/his studio supply.

• Once cubes are placed on a canvas, they cannot be moved to other spaces or "taken back".

• When a canvas is purchased (or discarded at the end of the day), cards are immediately shifted down the row (towards the right #1 position) and a new card is flipped over in the "3" slot and slid down if necessary until all three spots are filled again. Near the end of the solo game, there may not be enough cards left to fill all three spaces (the "3 space" or the "3 and 2 spaces" may be empty because the cards are always shifted to the right immediately if there is an empty space).

• Only two regular actions (which may be the same action) are allowed per day (in two separate turns). Only one Free action may be taken per day (not per turn) but it can be taken at any time during the "day" part of the round (before, between, or after taking "day" actions).

• Last Supper Optional Rule note: The painting discarded for food equal to its Star value doesn't count at all for scoring purposes -- you'll lose the points and the canvas completion.

• For convenience during solo play, a solo player may treat collecting cubes from the Paint Marketplace after selling paintings like just one collection action. But, the solo player could possibly take more than one clear Wild paint cube since one can be taken as part of each "collection" of 4 paints for a painting (and also for different paintings, which are considered separate collections).

• At the end of each day, after all player actions are finished (including taking paints from the Market after selling), remove the Canvas Card in the one-paint slot of the Canvas Market from play. For each space on the removed card, return a matching paint cube from the Paint Market to the bag, using any Wild cubes in the Paint Market if necessary. Spaces with 2 colors can be satisfied with the removal of a cube of either color (or a Wild cube). Any remaining cubes stay in the Paint Market. If there are not enough paint cubes of certain colors to match the discarded painting, nothing happens: there is no penalty for not being able to match all the spaces. But Wild cubes must have been used if possible in that case, even if it results in more than one Wild cube being discarded for a painting.

• The game ends when the solo player-artist starves or when there are no more canvases in the Canvas Market. If the last canvas card is removed from the Canvas Market by the player "buying" it, the player may finish doing her/his actions for the day (including selling at night) before the game ends.

Played solo unless stated otherwise, using the official solo rules and a random 35 painting card deck.

March 2, 2017
d10-1 29 points, 12 canvases completed and sold, 5 full food at the end.
I took my time, checking very carefully to make certain that all the steps were done each round, because I wasn't used to the rules and gameplay yet. I won by a large amount (the highest level is 25+) on my first game, which is somewhat concerning for the replayability of the game (unless I write a variant). It seems that as long as a player can sell enough to keep from starving, it is pretty easy to score points (and to gain cubes from the market for sales and from trading and using the draw cubes action). Since I didn't get an official answer from the designer, I decided that any number Wild (clear) cubes must be discarded from the marketplace if no other cube can be used to match the spaces on the end-of-day discarded marketplace painting, even though usually only one Wild cube can be used per painting: that should have made it even harder to win.

d10-2 23 points, 10 canvases completed and sold, 5 full food at the end.

I decided to allow the use of the "0" points comic art cards (which the rulebook recommends removing before creating the 35 card draw pile for the solo game) to try to make the game more challenging. It didn't make much of a difference, IMHO, especially since they have such high food rewards that it made it easier to accumulate cubes to buy other cards.

d10-3 12 points, 5 canvases completed and sold, STARVED! I didn't do very well this time... although the rules allow counting your points even if your artist starves (I guess to see what kind of reputation and fame you left behind). Starving in the solo game ends the game immediately, and then you count points.

d10-4 28 points, 10 canvases completed and sold, 5 full food at the end. (Having the zero-point cards in the deck definitely doesn't seem to make the game much more difficult to win: if I don't starve (which is fairly easy to avoid once you get the strategy down unless you have really back luck), I do pretty well.

d10-5 28 points, 12 canvases completed and sold, 5 full food at the end. Won easily again.

====
NOTE: From now on, I am going to house rule the solo game so that extra food only gets the player 2 random cubes from the bag for each extra food, rather than 4 for each. And I am making the starting draw deck smaller, with only 32 cards, rather than 35, which should shorten the solo game a bit, and also may lower the points scored somewhat. (See the house rules and clarifications at the top of this entry, in GREEN type.)

d10-6 24 points, 10 canvases completed and sold, 3 food at the end.
This game was slightly more challenging, but I believe that I also got very lucky by drawing some high-scoring cards when I could use them.

d10-7 19 points, 7 canvases completed and sold, STARVED!
This game felt much more suspenseful because I nearly starved a couple of times before I did. Also, it was much more difficult to gain and fulfill the higher scoring cards.

I think that the house rules are working to stop the build-up of cubes near the end which was causing a runaway completion of paintings.

===
NOTE: From now on, I am going to house rule the solo game so that extra food only gets the player 2 random cubes from the bag for each extra food, rather than 4 for each. And I am making the starting draw deck smaller, with only 30 cards. (See the house rules and clarifications at the top of this entry, in GREEN type.)

March 6, 2017

d10-8 25 points, 10 canvases completed and sold, 4 food at the end.

d10-9 11 points, 4 canvases completed and sold, STARVED!

d10-1d10-0 24 points, 9 canvases completed and sold, 3 food at the end.

My house rules (see the top of this entry, in the green type), although still sometimes allowing high scores, seem to add suspense to the game since the threat of starving occurs much more often. To make the game even harder to win, do not allow the use to of the optional rules: Color Study and Last Supper (from page 9), although they do add interesting strategic options.

This is a solitaire, print-and-play, card game I purchased and built recently. I had been wanting it for a while, and was looking forward to playing, but I find that I am somewhat disappointed. The scoring system, IMHO, needs to have more detailed rules other than "beat your last score", which pressures the player to take reckless chances with a submarine that has already taken nearly maximum damage, but doesn't add flavor to the game.

It's a decent filler, but I wanted it to be more.

March 11, 2017
d10-1 I chose the "+10 Fuel, +1 Torp" resupply option, and played through 21 turns until I got my sub sunk while trying to escape the escort ships after I destroyed a 30k ton ship.

LOST! Destroyed. (44k total, 2x ships)

d10-2 I did pretty well this time, again choosing the "+10 Fuel, +1 Torp" resupply option.

WON! Completed the entire deck with only 1 damage, and a Fuel, and 6 torpedos and 4 ammo left. (84k total, 4x ships)

d10-3 I chose the "+10 Fuel, +1 Torp" resupply option, and played until I had maximum damage (without being destroyed) on my submarine, then retreated (after 9 turns) -- which means I lost since I didn't beat my previous high score.

Retreated. Didn't beat my high score. (44k total, 2x ships)

d10-4 I chose the "+5 Fuel, +3 Torp" resupply option this time. By turn 11, I had matched my previous high score of 84k, but had already taken 3 damage, which meant that 1 more damage would destroy my submarine... Because of the "beat your high score" rules, I need to keep playing or lose the game, so I did and I lost by taking another damage and sinking my submarine.

LOST. Destroyed. (84k total, 4x ships).

Played on my Mac. This game is based on the TV show where contestants compete to create dishes quickly based on criteria given by the judges.

Although there is a storyline that includes other chefs in the competition, Top Chef is actually only a solitaire game.

Each "episode" (of 15 total in a complete game) is considered to be one gameplay.

I like this game although I am a terrible cook in real life and don't enjoy cooking, either. Sometimes, I just choose the most bizarre combinations that still fit the basic criteria (as well as I can, anyway), and those dishes get the most praise and score 5 stars!

February 9, 2017

d10-1 It's been quite a while since I played this game. I did okay in the beginning "episode", scoring average and above (although no "5 star" dishes), although one dish was not complete since I ran out of time on the last part of it.

d10-2 I did very well on this level of the game, making some dishes that got 5 stars (nothing I would want to eat in real life, though!).

February 10, 2017

d10-3 The game is getting harder. I didn't do so well this time, and I ran out of time for one of my dishes.

d10-4 Hanging in there, but it's getting tough!

d10-5 Kind of mediocre, but it's been enough to get me to the next "episode".

d10-6 The time pressure is getting worse because the number of steps needed for each dish and the number of dishes is increasing.

d10-7 Using the buttons to change the available ingredient choices hasn't helped me much.

d10-8 I didn't finish a dish, but still managed to move on.

d10-9 This level wasn't too bad for me. I made a 4 start dish.

d10-1d10-0 More ingredients need to meet two different requirements to count (although they still use up a space and a step and time). This messed me up pretty bad because I have trouble remembering which ones are used by which culture and which are savory or spicy, for example.
I failed this level (and got kicked out the the chef competition!) twice, but since the game lets me redo the "episode", I tried again until I did well enough to be able to move to the next level.

d10-1d10-1 Once again, I had to redo some of this "episode" before I could successfully complete it. It is getting more difficult to finish the last dish of each round before the time runs out.

d10-1d10-2 This was a fairly tough level, but it didn't take me too long to complete it (I only had to redo a section once).

d10-1d10-3 I created my first 5 star dish of the game! Then it took a couple of tries to not get myself eliminated from the contest.

(I can't seem to succeed at episode 14, though. I had to redo each round at least twice, and I keep failing the elimination round... )

d10-1d10-4 I finally succeeded at making enough points to finish episode 14. But it was pretty stressful, and the game is no longer fun because there is not time to appreciate what I am choosing.

(Episode 15 (the final "episode" of the game) seems to be impossible for me. I haven't even come close to getting the over 60,000 points I need to complete round 2 (I have replayed it many times) and to continue on to the final elimination round and attempt to win the game. )

Z War One: Damnation is a mission-based, tactical, "survivors versus zombies" game.

I have the Kickstarter version (with metal figures) which included the 1st expansion and some stretch goal promos, plus some add-ons. I played some practice tiles before, but this will be the first time I play through whole missions.

Z War One: Damnation is a true co-op game, and I plan to play solo, controlling all the heroes needed for each mission.

April 22, 2017
d10-1 I played the Kickstarter promo mission, Meal Deal (with the promo character, Amy, plus Cole and Victor), and it did not go well! By the 4th turn, although I had gathered (but not placed over the spawning areas) two sets of planks, Cole and Victor were both down and grappling with zombies, and Victor was bitten. By the 6th turn, all three characters were down and had been bitten more than once, and were grappling with multiple zombies (which kept piling on faster than the characters could kill them). Then Victor was killed, ending the mission (in co-op/solo mode, the loss of a character ends the mission).

If I could have closed a couple of the four spawn points with the planks, I think I could have had a chance of winning. The trouble with this mission is that during every turn there is a guarantee of two different spawns/roamers (no "nothing" results") usually of several zombies until either some of the spawn points are covered, or the 16th turn has been reached. It becomes overwhelming pretty quickly.

Board Game: Z War One: Damnation

Things were not going as planned... and it quickly got worse! zombie

I am going to try not splitting my party up right away next time to allow them to protect each other while trying to cover at least one spawn point.

d10-2 I replayed the Meal Deal scenario with the same characters (Amy, Cole, and Victor). I barely managed to win this time, with Cole and Victor bitten (with Cole, with a Stage 5 Infection, down to having only 2 Action Points and one possible die-roll away from turning into a zombie!). Cole kept running out of ammo and being chased away by hordes of zombies every time he tried to pick up a new weapon or search for one. The other characters finally gave him some of their almost depleted weapons when they got the chance, since they were luckier.

I managed to board up three spawn points, one fairly early, but still there were a lot of zombies spawning every turn. When the beginning of the 16th turn arrived and the spawning stopped (according to the scenario instructions), two of my characters were grappling with multiple zombies, and there were still other rambling zombies to contend with. Fully automatic weapons and shotguns came in handy for quick fire while grappling (and also having a standing character adjacent to help out), and I used up most of my characters' ammo, but got lucky hits (and also got lucky with the lack of infection progression) and they all survived until the zombies were all destroyed. The game ended at that point, which was good since I had no medical kits to cure Cole and Victor. (Characters are healed, and also have their original weapons with ammo restored, between game missions).

NOTE: Since August, I have mostly been building jigsaw puzzles during my leisure time (in addition to reading and occasionally taking turns on Yucata.de, and watching the Supergirl TV show ). Although I stopped updating this geeklist in August, I am now attempting to do a quick end-of-year update, so I will list the puzzles I did each month with one image only, but not the exact completion dates for each and maybe not listed in the proper order of completion.

Also note that the listed piece count may not be accurate because what is printed on the box is often rounded off to the nearest 50 or 100.
