This list collates the results of the Card Games Tournament I have been running.

The first round had 76 games that I included, plus another 30 games that were added by other users, a total of 106 card games.

I have combined the results of all the rounds by weighting the rounds on the basis of number of thumbsup and then worked out an overall score for each game over the course of the whole competition. Where appropriate I've added in comments that were added to the game entries as the tournament went on - unfortunately these are uncredited.
I've also added a comment for each game from someone who rates the game highly, I tried to pick the most informative comment for each game!

I think it is worth producing this summary as the definitive card games geeklist (for now).

The original rounds can be seen here:

Round 1 (106 Entrants):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/20998

Round 2 (The Top 40):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21101

Round 3 (The Top 20):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21255

Round 4 (The Top 10):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21474

Round 5 (Semi Final, The Top 6):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21781

Round 6 (The Final):
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21936

My list is the top 100, but I've allowed public additions to the list in case you think something has been unfairly missed.

Round 1: 49 Votes

Badger on the move: 60 card deck comprising a standard deck plus 4 Wizards (high) and 4 Jesters (low). In the first hand 1 card is dealt to each player, in the second 2, etc. The object is for each player to bid the number of tricks they think they can take from each hand, then to take exactly that many. You get 20 points for correctly predicting how many tricks you will win plus 10 points for each trick won. You lose 10 points for each trick over or under the amount you predicted. At least one player will fail on each hand, because the total number of tricks bid by the players may not equal the number of tricks available on that hand. Excellent twist on Oh Hell. My trick taking game of choice.

FireHorse: At first I had my doubts, but the more I play the better it gets.
As I became comfortable with the rules my options really opened up and the strategic depth of the game was revealed, it then became very fun and exciting and not just a race to get to the end of the path.
I can't recommend this game enough.

Round 1: 47 Votes

Heather Drake: What a fabulous game! Especially for a large, mixed group -- you really need at least 7 for this one to be good. It's excellent for people who don't know each other. It's not too hard and has a snappy pace. We let the Great Dalmuti dedicate each round, have some great hats that the Greaters and Lessers are forced to wear, and always give the wooden stool to the Greater Peon and the comfy chair to the Great Dalmuti. You even get some exercise when you switch seats between rounds. One of my favorites.

Wildcard in Round 1: 46 Votes

fripono: This classic French after-dinner card game is fairly easy to learn and strikes an enjoyable balance between luck and skill. There is something genuinely compelling about the search for that final 25 kilometres of road before the draw pile is exhausted, or of giving your unfortunate adversary puncture after puncture! The skill factor lies mainly with assessing which cards have been used and deciding whether to put a few more kilometres between yourself and your rival or lagging behind to set a trap. A lot of the luck depends on who draws the "Véhicule Prioritaire" (Right of Way) card, which gives you a huge advantage and, in practice, makes you almost invincible. A lot of fun for adults and older children.

Gargoyle: At the first glance, perhaps the most confusing card game ever (excluding L'Hombre). But under all the different game-modes and a weird scoring-system lies a very interesting trick-taking game. Choices are often tough, there are surprises here and there and the decisions really affect the outcome of the game. The best 3-player card game I know.

locusshifter: Medium light strategy, with light and fast paced gameplay. Quite the unique scoring system with a pleathora of paths to victory.
The more I play it the more I like it. this one is best played with 5; but meaning that the more players the better. It's awesome with any number.

crparis: I am in love with this game! What's not to like? It's tense, brutal, demanding, and an exceptional value for the money.. It's tough going with new players, but with four experienced players that have their heads around the mechanics, it REALLY shines!!

Verkisto: This is a wonderfully evil variation of Spades. I'm not usually one for screw-your-neighbor games, but in this case, it's almost always in your best interest to interfere with another players' plans. One of the people at the table described it as follows: "It's like Spades, only with Satan poured into it." I think that about says it all. =)

Knocked out of Round 1 by San Juan 151-41.
May have scored more as a Wildcard or against a weaker game.

Tyler: The tension between temple cards and tribe cards is intense! I like the fluid and nuanced card play. Multiple victory conditions keep you on edge and make each game seem unique. It should be noted that this is one for those who like their conflicts hardnosed and direct.Another great entry in the essential Kosmos 2-player series.

asfhgwt: This "squad leader card game" is the best 2-player WWII game ever made; it will never be surpassed. Nothing comes close in terms of excitement level. If you can find it, buy it. Complexity is moderate to high (although you can play on a more basic level), but the time spent will be well worth it. I've played more than 1,200 games of UF over 15 years.

"I'm a factory worker, and we play 10-12 games of Euchre every day. Why? Because it's a blast, and we can play 3-4 games during our breaks, the longest of which is only half an hour."

scratchie: Fast-moving trick-taking game with trumps, light bidding and a couple of unique(?) rules that give it its own distinctive style. A great alternative to Bridge when you don't feel like giving your brain that much of a workout.

faqtotum: Fun, fast and everyone gets a crack at every hand. Interesting hand management, you need to jump on those low water levels when they come out. The random aspect of the two contested cards every round ensures a new twist every turn. Somehow, we always end up laughing and having a great time with this game. Few who have tried this game will turn it down. Always a good sign.

Round 1: 35 Votes

cfarrell: The ultimate gamer's CCG, MECCG strikes a fine balance between meta-game deck construction and the tactical play of the game itself. There is a misconception amongst some observers that you need a ton of cards to play - this is absolutely untrue. Without the "colors", "cultures", or whatever that restrict deck-building, you can put virtually any card in any deck and so can build quite competitive (and, crucially, interesting) decks with a fairly modest outlay. Plus, it's a fabulous (far and away the best) recreation of Tolkien's masterpiece. Highest recommendation, and it's rather cheap these days. The best sets are the basic set, the Dragons, and Lidless Eye. The game is especially well-designed from the perspective of playing modest-sized collections; the best games actually come from playing with modest, but not substantial, collections.

ced1106: Hands down, Loco is my favorite game for "any" gamer. Easy to play, fast playing, and with a taste of German strategy, I've played Loco with pretty much every sort of gamer -- even 10 year old Yu-Gi-Oh players. Every single group has been impressed by the gameplay -- not to mention the $7 price tag. (:

Beyond Monopoly: One of the best trick-taking games i have played in a long time. The dual nature of the taking of tricks, along with the convoluted nature of the scoring, makes for a very enjoyable game, with several different options in strategies.
I find myself wondering if the game would benefit from a hearts-like passing mechanic.

"My poor Gang of Four is getting hammered. it got a bad Round 1 matchup, as For Sale is widely hailed as a terrific filler. But I love GoF."

fenwic: I love this game. I could play it forever. It is rather easy to learn, and the strategy is sickeningly deep. It's crazy because you can play with great players and they can trounce you -- but playing with poor players can backfire, as well. Beautiful cards. It's a little expensive for just a card game, but I have actually gotten my money's worth. Fast paced, the tide can turn quickly, there are great moments of triumph and disappointment.... AWESOME game.

Arnott: One of the all-time great party games. Being the gamer that I am, I like to play this scoring variant... Get a card right: +2 Screw up: -2 Pass on a card: -1 It never made sense to me that passing cost you the same as messing up, and now, with the occasional "-1" in the mix, you also lower the chances that the game could end in a tie, though, truth be told, having two balanced teams is a rarity... and it usually doesn't matter, that's how fun this game is.

slateman: My single most favorite card game for parties. With an almost endless supply of cards, a game can take hours, but watching everyone counter everyone else is so much fun. Some of the cards are downright mean, but the names and art on the cards make it a blast. Highly recommended for more than 4 players.

brianeikunst: Good game for families & non-gamers. Lots of luck, but it combines many popular mechanisms (action points, set collection, hand management) into a fun family game. Very inexpensive & great gift idea. Game isn't as good with 3 players since there are too many different commodities available.

hatricvs: In it's time this was one of the very best card games around. Playing it recently it seemed to have lost a little appeal and it can suffer from the 'counter card' syndrome whereby if you're unlucky it can be quite a while before you actually get a go! Still has a place in my heart though!

darquil: Production: Great quality cards, and colors which are easy enough to distinguish (a feat, given that there are ten colored suits). The usual Amigo linen finish gives the cards great snap and handleability. Play: The game is quick and surprisingly entertaining for such a simple mechanism. This is my first of a ‘Press your luck’ type game, excepting perhaps Yahtzee, and I like it. It's a lot of fun to slowly build up my hand, and make tough decisions about settling for a face-up card or chancing the deck. (3+2+4) (10 plays)

fenwic: This is my favorite trick-taking card game. It works well with lots of people... the changing hand size is very sweet. It creates an acceleration to the game that is very satisfying. A lot of trick-taking purists don't like the trump changing aspects at first -- but just about everyone warms up to it eventually.

Only loved by people in Wisconsin and Bavaria?

jpact: Requires more creative play than Euchre, to which it is often compared. I love the rapid pace, the rules variants, the element of risk taking as the "picker," and of course the gambling. I've probably played more of this than any other card game. Best trick-taking game in the book. To be fair, I haven't given Bridge a chance. Someday I'd like to give Skat a go round too.

Beaten in Round 1 by Meuterer 65-23.
Against weaker opposition may have scored more, so could deserve to be higher in the list.

ZombieMonkey: In a word: stunning. Absolutely perfect implementation of miniatures style wargame in an affordable, easy to store format. Not much else to say except well done to Your Move Games - this deserves to be an absolutely huge hit.
