BGG's Most "Owned" Designers (2017 Edition)
About two and a half years ago, I posted a ranked list of game designers based on how many of their games and expansions BGG users list as owned: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/179983/bggs-most-owned-de...
A lot has happened in the gaming world since then, and I think it's a good time to revisit this statistic. I ran the numbers, and we have some shifting and even a few new faces.
This time I'm including the total number owned, the top 5 games from each designer, and if the designer was on the list last time, I also included how his numbers have changed since then. I also extended the list to 25 designers instead of 20.
I hope you guys find it as interesting as I do!
A few notes:
This list is in no way indicative of actual game sales. Unfortunately I don't have that data.
For games with multiple designers, I gave full credit for the game to all of the designers. I want to keep the list objective, and this seemed like the best way to do it. This does lead to a few strange instances (Kevin Wilson gets full credit for Cosmic Encounter, for example). I'm not going to go through and make a judgement call on every single multiple-designer game, so that's why I'm including the top 5 games so you can see where the numbers are coming from and take them with a grain of salt.
Last time I did a separate list that excluded expansions, but I don't want to do that this time because it really isn't as different as you would think (thanks to cases like Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue being listed as stand-alone games).
