A reasonable turn out with prodigal returns for Andrew B, Phil and Paul. Welcome back gentlemen, it was good to see you. Other attendees included Crispy Chris, JamesF, EP Chris, ND Nick, Ty, Roy....apologies if I missed anyone. It seems that I zoned out and missed what else was being played, please fill in the blanks.

Played by Crispy (first time for the entire game-baptism of fire time, not just the expansion), JimF, EP Chris and ND Nick (last three first play of expansion).

The second expansion to Russian Railroads and one of the last sweeping ups to be played after Essen 2016. The first expansion, German railroads was very good, could these keep up? This introduces a stock market that gives you bonuses like money and free movement and also requires blockages to two lines to be exploded off with dynamite to allow tracks to progress. These combined with new player boards make this a challenge but with enough of the base game to make it quick to pick up (although frequently not quick to play).

Chris started off with some nice bonuses that saw him take an early and sizeable lead. EP Chris decided upon an industry heavy priority and soon had some clever combos firing up that on occasion had him chaining 5-6 actions as his bonuses for a single turn. By mid game he had caught Crispy and it looked like he had an unassailable lead being 50 points in front. James just did what James does, lots of muttering, lots of complimenting people on how well they were playing, lots of stacking up money and stuff to spring later when it counted. Meanwhile I think it was turn three before I actually scored a point. I was happy just making chuff chuff noises and building black track.

As ever the last two turns saw an explosion of points. Jim unleashed his x2 doubler engine and wheeled out the white track to rake in 20 points per step for his rocky Railroad. EP Chris had done all he could with the industries and couldn't max out points on the other tracks. Crispy was suffering badly with everyone taking the actions he needed and I too moved into the white track but unfortunately not as efficiently as Jim did. Scores to follow;

A very enjoyable game. Yet another expansion worth owning. The base game just plain can't be bought now and with no plans for a reprint, this is one to definitely hang onto.
