amazing New To You lists.

This list is meant to be a concise perusal for those times we wish to browse for something new and don't have endless time to comb through the SGOYT list. Anyone can post an item but only one item.

Please share your experiences of the solitaire games you played for the first time this past month.

In order to assist with collecting Statistics from these lists, please post an entry with your chosen game of the month, and if possible please use the "insert board game" feature to add other games you mention in your entry.

Here is an example template of a post:

Format is completely up to you but I reiterate the requirement of ONE GEEKLIST ITEM PER USER.

I have decided to make this geeklist not show up on the frontpage for two reasons:
1) To keep it to the Guild as much as possible
2) To not step on Grimwold's toes with a confusingly similar title

The only new game last month, acquired in a trade. A compelling euro game that looks (but doesn't feel) very thematic. Too bad that the mining phase is totally deterministic, which makes it play too much like a puzzle for my taste.
Still, I'm not ready to give up on it. Maybe some day I'll try a house rule that randomizes the automata a bit.

I really loved the sneaky/espionage feel of this one. Made a change from your usual move and fight games.

Avoiding combat is the aim of the game here. Working out how to achieve your objectives with the minimum of exposure is a great solo puzzle. There is also a push your luck element to some decisions too.

I also have both expansions and I'm looking forward to playing this more.

Speaking of sneaking about, this game also won me over in June.

I only played it once but it was agreat tense experience and I won it by catching a cat and blowing a hole in the roof to escape. Awesome.

I stupidly lent it to my mate two weeks ago and he still hasn't tried it. I'm desperate to get it back.

Not too much sneaking about in this one.

Slash and bash action with a nice fantasy horror feel.

The mechanics are very interesting and I like the rondels and card based action system.

Initial impressions were very good. Could it replace my Descent collection? Time will tell.

Picked this up at the UK Games Expo. Hand management mechanics should have been up my street but despite being a perfectly fine game I just didn't love it.

Already traded it away.

I bought this thanks to all the good press it has gotten in the guild. I played on the easiest Automa level, though I did make one mistake in reading the cards that made it slightly harder than it should have been. Even so, I won by a few points.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit. It's a shame that the combat in it means I'm unlikely to get many multiplayer games out of it, but at least the solo play is satisfying enough to justify having it. I will have to consider whether it should be on my Top 20 list this fall.
