November 2015 to June 2016 I lost 35 lbs. From 245 lbs to around 210 lbs, I was feeling a lot healthier and more fit. I was exercising and eating better.

Then I aggravated an old ankle injury. A a year later, I have gone through physical therapy, rehabbed my ankle, and regained most of the weight I had lost.

I'm finding it hard to keep myself motivated to work out and I enjoy eating poorly. I wasn't denying myself before, but 1-2 days a week with a "bad" meal isn't as much fun as a week of bad meals.

So, inspired by this geeklist - 100 LBS FOR BGG CON - I am going to hold myself publicly accountable for my body. I am 31 years old and frankly, the clock has already started for me righting this ship. The longer I wait, the harder it will get.

My first goal, is to get below 200 lbs and stay there. I want this to be my new ceiling. I don't want to be over 200 again.

My second goal is to get below 180 lbs. This will be quite a bit harder if my previous attempt is any indication. I am going to mix in more weights and try to put on muscle this time though. Last time was almost all cardio, which it seems will get weight off, but is hard to maintain (especially if I tweak my bum ankle again).

My final goal is to get around 160 lbs. This is a nice multiple of 5 like my other goals that falls inside the seemingly universal "151-163 lbs" for a 5' 10" male with a medium sized frame. This sounds CRAZY to me, so this definitely a "wait and see" goal. I've always been a bit heavier, but I have never been one for exercise. If I can maintain this, great, but I am happy with getting below 180 lbs.

So. Lets start...

245 lbs - 28/7/2017

The Settlers of Catan (get this "Catan" business out of here!) was one of my early entries into the hobby, probably one of the first 10 games I played.

I have had a copy in my collection ever since, but having moved from a 4th edition to the 3rd edition (pictured), which I much prefer the tile and card artwork in.

Also, as of this posting, Catan is ranked 245th overall on BGG. Hence its inclusion on the list.

Weight loss update:

Nothing much at the moment as this is the "new beginning" but I have pulled the old Gazelle out and put it in the TV room. Got up on it twice this week and finished off Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, season 1.

I had forgotten how much cardio I can get in and not realize it when up there so long as I have a show going.

I have also discovered that, while I have always been a fan of vinaigrette dressings over the creamy sorts, I had never tried just olive oil and red wine vinegar. With a little salt, fresh ground pepper, garlic and/or onion powder, it is a fantastic dressing.

I have been enjoying this quick dressing on top a mix of spring greens mix, romaine lettuce, and spinach with feta, kalamata olives, pico de gallo, and a few pita chips. Top all that with some chopped parsley, cilantro, and chives for a very interesting and pleasing salad with some bite.

I have also found that eating salad for dinner, at the moment, turns me into a sugar craving monster, having baked and almond pound cake earlier this week after one salad night.

Currently on the lookout for something satisfy my sweet tooth that won't put me into a death spiral that ends with me baking a cake or eating a peanut butter and M&M sandwich (don't knock it until you try it, your inner child will rejoice).
