a PO Girl's 2017 GENCON Watch List

Even though I never get to attend this convention, as a dedicated member of the Cult-of-the-New I keep my eyes carefully glued to all the NEW games that show up at GENCON.
In 2015 there were 32 games that caught my eye on the GENCON Preview list. In 2016 that number fell to just 24 games. In 2015 I ended up getting 50% of the games that captured my interest while in 2016 only 46% of games I targeted ended up in my collection. It would seem that perhaps there is a trend developing. Is it a trend of being more discriminating or is it a trend towards fewer exciting new games?
Let's see how thing are looking in 2017 before I attempt to answer that question.
In reviewing this years GENCON50 Preview it is worthy to note that I already own a number of games including: SdJ winner Kingdomino, the newly reprinted Nothre Dame: 10th Anniversary edition, the original first printing of Asking for Trobils, the Kickstarter edition of Sagrada, Tiny Epic Quest, special KS Harmony version of Anachrony, Century: Spice Road with the fabulous player mat, Raiders of the North Sea, the first edition of Cottage Garden, the new Automobiles: Racing Seaon expansion, the complete second set of Pack-O-Games, and several other older games that are getting a undated reprint this year.
I have also Kickstarted or pre-ordered many of my most anticipated games being shown off at GENCON this year including: Founders of Gloomhaven, Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Flames & Frost expansion, The Grimm Forest, Champions of Midgard: The Dark Mountains and Champions of Midgard: Valhalla expansions, Barker's Row, Dinosaur Island, and the Between Two Cities: Capitals expansion.
This is a substantial number of games that are taken out of contention which theoretically should reduce the number of entries on this year's list. Let's see if that pans out.

My "Must Have" games are games that I am 99% sure that I want to add to my collection and that I likely will acquire by the end of the year or shortly after they become available. The entries under this heading are arranged by order of priority.

The games I am "very interested" in are games that have probably a 75% or greater chance of being added to my collection in the future, either by purchase or trade. These entries are also listed in order of their appeal.

Under this heading are the games that I don't know enough about to have a strong indication that I would love them or not. I would say that these games maybe have a 50% chance of ultimately making the grade once they have been vetted. Since I am wide open on most of these titles they are arranged alphabetically.
