Essen SPIEL 2017 no shipping math trade
Welcome to the annual no shipping math trade for visitors of the Internationale Spieltage SPIEL'17 (26.10.2017 - 29.10.2017) in Essen!
If you are new to math trading, please start with the BGG Wiki pages for Math Trades and OLWLG. For German users there is An introduction to Math Trades in German. If you have any questions, please post them in the Essen SPIEL 2017 no shipping math trade discussion thread.
The trade list is locked now. You will be able to submit your want lists soon after the final resync of OLWLG.
Do not delete items from the trade list anymore!
By adding an item to this list you agree to the following rules:
0. Stay informed
0a) Please use the Essen SPIEL 2017 no shipping math trade discussion thread for all of your questions, suggestions, comments and chit-chat. Please do not post in the comments section of this trade list.
0b) Please subscribe to the Essen SPIEL 2017 no shipping math trade announcement thread for all the announcements, updates, reminders, and other important information. To keep the announcement thread free from useless information and subscription triggers, do not post in the announcement thread.
0c) Everyone is responsible for keeping up with the announcements and updates. I may send out GeekMails on occasion but the announcement thread is your primary source of official information regarding this trade.
1. Times and dates
1a) Item submission period: This trade list will be open to add and edit items until Saturday, 09.09.2017 (CEST). Note that the time displayed in the OLWLG is the lower limit. Item submission will most likely be closed at some time on Sunday, 10.09.2017 (CEST). Items added after the OLWLG deadline are valid entries. However, do not plan on adding your items last minute on Sunday since the list may close at any time.
1b) Want list submission period: The want lists have to be created and submitted via the OLWLG until Saturday, 23.09.2017 (CEST). Want list submission will be closed at some time on Sunday, 24.09.2017 (CEST). Do not plan on submitting want lists last minute on Sunday since the submission window may close at any time. Have your want lists finished and submitted before the deadline displayed in the OLWLG.
1c) After the results have been posted, everyone will have at least 24 hours to check the results for errors. Technical errors or mistakes within the responsibility of the organizer may cause a rerun of the trade in which case a new 24 hour period for checking the revised results will begin. Mistakes made by users while creating their want lists do not warrant a rerun of the trade and can not be corrected once the trade is resolved.
1d) Everyone is responsible to check their items, want lists and results in time before the respective deadlines. Please check your offered items for questions and comments before the item submission deadline. Please try to be available to answer GeekMails after the results have been posted.
2. Valid offers
2a) This trade is primarily about board games. Other items are allowed as long as they are legal and do not infringe any laws or regulations.
2b) An offer must not depend on third parties in any way. Do not offer items you don't possess at the time of posting them. This includes pre-ordered items that are promised to be delivered by October and items you are supposed to receive before or at SPIEL.
2c) Money offers are allowed. Be aware that by accepting a cash value you are conducting a direct sale and are subject to the associated 3% commission fee as required by the BGG Terms of Service. For details see Cash Value Trades in Math Trades.
2d) Money arbitrage is prohibited and will result in the incorrect want lists being omitted from the trade. Money arbitrage is defined as trading an item containing money for an item containing more money. The term "money" includes cash offers, PayPal transfers, wire transfers, gift certificates, etc.
2e) Game bundles, "sweeteners", and "Pick x out of Y" offers are allowed as long as the item description is unambiguous. In particular, an offer must not depend on unforeseeable circumstances in any way.
2f) Keep in mind that you need to be able to bring all your traded items to SPIEL'17 and possibly carry them around over significant distances. There is, however, no general item limit per user.
3. Item descriptions
3a) If any component of a game is not in the same condition as it would be in a perfectly new and mint condition copy of the game, name it!
3b) Item descriptions must be accurate and unambiguous.
3c) For each item offered you must provide the following information:
Version / Year Published:
Availability at SPIEL'17: (e.g.: Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun)
Image: Make sure to select the image actually corresponding to the offered version of your game.
3d) Provide a detailed description of your item's condition. Unless your item condition is "new in shrink", please use more than 3 words to describe it. A vague statement like "good" is completely useless to anyone but yourself.
3e) Do not assume that your own standards are true for everyone else. Only because you think that an issue is insignificant, it does not necessarily make it negligible for anyone else.
3f) Each offered item has to be checked for completeness unless it's still in its original shrink wrap.
3g) Comments on an item are not considered part of that item's description since they can be added and altered after the item submission period and thus may not appear in the OLWLG. Make sure that all information regarding your offer is given in the item description before the end of the item submission period (see paragraph 1a for the deadline).
3h) If you have questions about an item, use the comment function to post a comment on the respective item. Do this in time for the item's owner to be able to reply before the end of the item submission period (see paragraph 1a for the deadline). I encourage everyone to ask for a more detailed description in case you are not sure about an item's condition, language, version, etc. If your questions aren't answered to your satisfaction, do not add the item to your want lists.
3i) If you notice after the item submission period that you are not able to deliver an item as advertised in the item description, you have to withdraw that item from the trade (i.e. submit an empty want list for it).
4. Item description formatting / OLWLG
4a) Using the OLWLG is mandatory for this trade.
4b) For items that do not have their own BGG entry, generic items like Outside the Scope of BGG or Miscellaneous Game Accessory have to be used. This may also be suitable for game bundles and 'Pick x out of Y' offers.
4c) Please include an altname tag in the item description of generic items like Outside the Scope of BGG or Miscellaneous Game Accessory. Otherwise they will not be displayed properly by the OLWLG.
4d) If you offer several games in one item, it is recommended to include them via GeekLink (Insert Geek Link -> Board Game) for the OLWLG to recognize them as additional offers.
4e) Do not use a game as your trade list item if that game is not part of your offer. Do not include a GeekLink to a game in your trade list item if that game is not part of your offer.
4e) The OLWLG will not be up to date with the trade list all the time. The synchronization has to be triggered manually by the math trade organizer from time to time. You can set the OLWLG to get a notification about each synchronization event via GeekMail.
5. Editing and deleting items
5a) Do not delete items from the trade list after the item submission period (see paragraph 1a for the deadline) since this will affect the numbering of all of the following items and cause confusion and annoyance. If you change your mind about trading an item after the item submission period, submit an empty want list for the item.
5b) Deleting redundant/incorrect/obsolete items is encouraged during the item submission period (see paragraph 1a for the deadline). In fact, I will delete these items myself if I notice them.
5c) Do not make major changes to an item description. People may already have added the item to their want lists and not notice that the item description has changed. If you need to make major changes to an item description, please create a new item and delete the original one.
5d) You may want to offer your item up for auction/sale/trade in other places simultaneously. This is okay but if you sell or trade items elsewhere during the item submission period (see paragraph 1a for the deadline), please delete those items from the math trade.
6. Want lists
6a) By adding an item to one of your want lists you agree to accept it in exchange for your respective item. Check your want lists and all of the item descriptions thoroughly before finally submitting your want lists!
6b) All want lists have to be created and submitted via the OLWLG ("Submit Your Lists Here!" -> "Submit My Wants").
6c) Want lists may be edited and re-submitted any number of times during the want list submission period (see paragraph 1b for the deadline). After editing your want lists and saving the changes you have to submit them again to become effective ("Submit Your Lists Here!" -> "Submit My Wants").
6d) Make sure to re-check the descriptions of the items on your want lists thoroughly before submitting your want lists. Items you added to your want lists before the item submission deadline may have changed since then. I recommend creating your want lists only after the item submission period has ended.
6e) Mistakes you make while creating your want lists do not warrant a rerun of the trade and thus can not be corrected once the trade is resolved.
6f) If you are not sure about how to properly implement duplicate protection (or anything else for that matter), please ask for help in the discussion thread. Do not just hope that it works the way you think it does because if it doesn't, there will be no way to correct it once the trade is resolved (see paragraph 6e).
6g) All want lists will be made public after the trade has been resolved.
7. Meeting in Essen
7a) All participants are responsible for being able to collect the items they put on their want lists at SPIEL'17, e.g. if you are going to be at the show on Saturday and Sunday, don't add items to your want lists which are only available on Friday because you will not get your games.
7b) To reduce the number of individual meetings at the convention, we will have a general meeting once per day at noon (12:00 CEST) in front of hall 3 next to Entrance West (right hand of the entrance area when approaching the entrance from the outside). This is the default meeting for all trades and I encourage everyone to do the trading there and then if possible.
7c) All trade meetings are expected to take place on site at SPIEL'17 and during the show's opening hours. You may arrange individual meetings with your trade partners. However, do not expect your trade partners to meet you off-site at train stations or hotel rooms in the middle of the night.
7d) Trade partners may agree on any type of user identification before their meeting. This may include exchanging a password via GeekMail in advance or letting your trade partners know what you will be wearing. You may exchange phone numbers and send each other a confirmation text message in Essen or log in to your BGG account as proof of your identity.
7e) If anything prevents you from getting your items to SPIEL'17 on the days you stated in your item descriptions and you are not able to hand them over to their recipient(s), you have to ship your items at your own cost and pay the shipping costs for the items you wish to receive from other participants which you were not able to collect.
8a) The trade will be resolved using TradeMaximizer 1.3a with official names and the following options: allow-dummies require-colons require-usernames linear-priorities. Everyone will be able to reproduce and verify the results using the published want lists and the same set of options.
8b) The BGG Trade Manager shall be used for the trade transactions. Cash value trades shall be conducted using the Geek Market as detailed here: Cash Value Trades in Math Trades
8c) Items that do not comply with the above rules may be omitted from the trade and will be deleted or treated as items with empty want lists. This may happen without further notice during critical phases of the trade (e.g. when a decision has to be made as soon as possible and there is no time to ask questions and wait for answers). Users who don't follow the rules may be suspended from the trade. The decisions made by the trade organizer are final in those cases.
Thank you very much for reading the rules and happy trading!
