Well here I am, home from GenCon 50 with a boatload of new games (not to mention the bunch of Kickstarters & Pre-Orders that have showed up over the past two months) and I thought I would rate my collection into a top 100 list before I dug into all these new games! I am looking forward to seeing where they all land once I get a few plays in of each of them.

Games I want to buy but have not yet:

Charterstone
Coaster Park
Fallout: The Board Game

Games I have bought but haven't played yet:

First Martians: Adventures on the Red Planet: (played on 9/27/17 and really enjoyed it. We lost the first mission but played again immediately and did much better and yes they did feel different in the play even though it was the same scenario. Probably knocking Robinson Crusoe off the list when all is said and done but we'll see how it hold up after multiple plays.)
Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition: (Bought it and started painting it after my success painting Cry Havoc and quickly got discouraged. I need to get back on the horse and finish painting this so I can play it finally!)
Cities of Iron (2nd Edition): (FINALLY played this last night 10/25/17 and as if there could be any doubt, yes it's another amazing game by Ryan Laukat! Going straight into the top 20-30 or so)
Stop Thief: (played on 10/14/17 and it was fun. A bit better than I remember but still a light fun game)
Masters of Orion: (played on 9/13/17 and it was pretty good. A bit lighter than I was expecting but the table seemed to enjoy it)
The Godfather: Corleone's Empire: (played on 10/18/17 and it is freaking awesome! Top 50 material for sure!)
The Expanse: The Board Game: (played on 10/28/17 and it was REALLY well done! very interesting choices, great technologies for the factions, and just a thoroughly enjoyable brain twister of a game. Mainly because there are so many good choices to take on a turn. In fact the AP can be a bit much to be honest but I really enjoyed the game!)
Alien Artifacts:
Rick & Morty: Anatomy Park:
Grimslingers:
Legends of Andor:

Kickstarters I've received but haven't gotten to the table yet:

Exoplanets:(played on 9/6/17 and while I did enjoy it, it felt over way too fast. The updated components are nice and I think I will enjoy replays of it (especially once we get the expansions in).
Tiny Epic Quest: (played last night (8/30/17) and it was a BLAST! Not sure where it will end up in the Tiny Epic Universe for me yet but it's up there!)
Apocrypha:
7th Continent:
Emergence:

Games I brought back from GenCon I've yet to try:

Dragonfire: (played on 9/6/17 and I really liked it. We only did the opening scenario and we still only escaped by the skin of our teeth. I hope we do better once we get into the actual meat of the game!
Masters of Orion: Conquest (played but had a very hard time with the rules. Awaiting a decent hot to play video to make better sense of it before trying again Played again on 9/13/17 with a better understanding of the mechanics (thanks to the only video for it out there) and it was slightly better. The Board Game was more fun.)
Century Spice Road: Golem Edition (played on 8/23/17 and it was really good! I hope my friend misheard that they won't be doing expansions for the Golem Edition, it's SUPER good!)
Wasteland Express Delivery Service:
A Fake Artist Goes to New York:

I tried to keep games that reimplemented other games off of this list sticking with the one I liked more. Examples of this would be King of Tokyo vs. King of New York and the like. Some did make it through but only if I felt there was enough differentiation to warrant them. So read it with that in mind when you say "How is this not on the list?!?!"

I used the Pub Meeple ranking tool (thank you Eric Summerer for the info on that which he used to make his Top 100 and it made the process pretty easy). I did tweak a couple once I saw the final results (taken from the top 115 games in my collection) and some were not a surprise while others were. Anywho... Lets get started!

EDIT: 8/26/17 Somehow Star Trek: Ascendancy was left off this this. The Fenergi & Cardassian Expansions came in to the FLGS today and it completely reminded me about this fine game. I played it twice then bought it and it has been sitting in shrink on my shelf ever since awaiting the expansions because I wanted to play the game with more than 3 people (I never liked 3 player "war" games as stunning as the mechanisms in this game are I was willing to wait) so it had completely slipped my mind. It is however in my collection so is valid for this list. And that is another clarifification I'd like to make at this point. These are all games that are currently in my collection. So if it's a game I do not own, it did not make this list. This was strictly about "valuing" my own collection So without further adieu,

My all time favorite game. A Space-Sandbox where just about anything you can think of doing is a valid strategy in the game. The expansion is a must have as far as I am concerned as well as it really opens the game up and allows for even more decisions to accentuate the particular play-style you wish to employ during that particular game session. Fires on all cylinders and as long as dice don't bother you, you will LOVE this game!

My favorite co-op, deck-builder, game based on an IP game all in one! The theme dripping off of this game can dissolve solid metal like Alien Blood! Excellent use of the Legendary Deck-building System that far outpaces it's origins with the Marvel Game. The expansion adds some interesting changes as well but the core is where it's at!

My favorite worker placement game, the theme of this one just out-does it's older brother Viticulture. Dice as workers, bump-able spaces, penalties for not being forward thinking enough, all wrapped in a wonderful dystopian theme where you are trying to keep your workers dumb and happy so they'll do your bidding for you and not run away. The second on this list from my favorite Game Designer, Jamey Stegmaier. Which leads us to...

First off, while I do have a kickstarter copy and a copy of the Tuscany Expansion (that has been post upgraded to all it's potential goodness), the Essential Edition is all anyone really needs, but the Tuscany Essential edition does still have some things worth getting if you truly love the game and it's mechanics. My second favorite worker placement game and I don't even really like "Fermented Grape" wine (I am more of a Mead man hehe) but this game truly does shine. Excellent combination of skill and randomness from those decks of cards that this game truly shines whenever it comes to the table. A must have for any worker placement enthusiast!

This game is the only reason Above & Below is not in the Top 10! It took the story-telling of Above & Below, ratcheted it up to 11, added some great mechanics to accentuate those stories and delivered it in a box of sweet cardboard goodness. The designer even changed a major mechanic between the KS and it's release and it still came out a better game for it! So many ways to play, so many things to see and do this game has replay-ability for years! So happy it's in my collection!

A game that takes one of my favorite mechanics, deckbuilding, and throws a little twist on it by using tokens instead of cards and a bag instead of a deck. Action selection, area control (of a sort) and unique chances to build different and fascinating engines to get you to the end makes this game a fascinating game to say the least. Looking forward to the new expansion as well. One of my favorite "Themeless" games which is usually a pretty important thing for me. That's just how good this one is.

Up until Near & Far entered my collection, this was my favorite Story-Telling game. Think Tales of Arabian Nights with an actual game wrapped around it. The James Bond Super Villain-esque theme is just icing on the cake. Great stories, great moments, great humor all wrapped into an amazing experience that will still beat you. So much to love here and while not for everyone, this one will forever be a favorite of mine.

Quite possibly the best melding of theme and mechanic I have ever seen. Only it's long playtime and infrequent play have pushed it down to 9 which is still impressive given the company it beat out. So much fun to play and scheme. I love the binding alliances (well until Shai-Halud shows up) which really help you to focus on what's important in the game. The fixed troop number and respawn rate also help to ensure that you are always in the game even when things seem bleak. Another one that is definitely not for everyone but those in the know... know!

A very rewarding game about running an Art Gallery. The complexity of this game is belied by it's 4 action spaces. Every decision is crucial yet it never feels like you are ever completely out of the game. I have seen stunning come-from-behind moves in this that are a wonder to behold. The components are amazing as well. Full of theme and great art this game is so deserving of a place in my top 10 at #10 because it is such a mechanically solid game! Everything else is just gravy (and your potato would drown in it!)

One of my all-time favorite worker placement games and the first I ever played with dice as workers. Excellent entry-level game (there's just two resources to keep track of) with a simple method of scoring using area control for abilities than ensure differing strategies every time. The art is fantastic as is the game-play. The only Game-Salute game on my list (as I am sure it is for many people) but one well worth having! So good!

Amazing for a game with Zombies (which I hate; such a weak threat in tv/movies/board games) to be this high on my list but here we are. The game Battlestar Galactica wishes it was. Various scenarios, hidden player agendas, possibility of traitors, exiled players, and excellent story-telling make this the best of the non-party game style social deduction games ever put out. You really feel like you are living your own Zombie Apocalypse but the zombies are really just the generic threat. It's so much more about the people playing it which is why it beats out all the others in this genre.

Quite possibly the best Civ-inspired game ever made. Wonderful mechanics, excellent choices, great components and the new version has just the right amount of streamlining. I cannot wait for the digital version so I can finally get good enough at the game to compete against the people I usually play this with (who usually destroy me at the game haha). Vlada's crowning achievement (and I told him so at GenCon 50)

Were Near & Far not a thing this would probably be in the Top 10 but it is and so here we are. This game is an amazing blend of euro-mechanics and theme-rich storytelling. The art, like in all of Ryan's games is stunning and the game-play is perfection. My first few games I wanted a couple more rounds but now I appreciate it's brevity. One everyone should try at least once (and like Jays will probably leave you coming back for more... bet'cha can't play just one!)

The best Star Wars themed game out there (that I have played I still have high hopes for Queen's Gambit if I ever get a hold of a copy). Literally the original trilogy in a box. Great components, bluffing and misdirection, and it even has Death Star's, AT-AT's and Star Destroyers in it! The theme is strong with this one and the game-play is superb. If you want a Star Wars board game, look no further than this one.

My absolute favorite in the Tiny Epic line (although Kingdoms as you see is not much farther behind it). Takes a mechanic I traditionally have not liked, dice action selection, and makes an extremely fun game out if it. The Beyond the Black expansion is 100% necessary in my opinion as it adds some very well crafted alternate paths to victory as well as more of what makes the game great. Expanding your empire, follow-able actions that keep people engaged even when it's not their turn and all packed in a small box (although I have both the play-mats too so when it's on the table it's not so tiny heheh).

When all we had was Tiny Epic Kingdoms, Defenders and Galaxies, Galaxies just edged out Kingdoms and the less said about Defenders the better (hopefully the new version corrects that). Then the expansion dropped for Kingdoms and it retook the top spot as the best Tiny Epic Game out there. But then the expansion for Galaxies dropped and it reclaimed the lead... but only just. The excellent framework of this game keeps players involved and entranced as you expand your empire, and achieve your objectives to be the best fantasy race you can be. Great powers, Good art and fascinating decisions to make this game is a true gem!

The game that utterly killed Lords of Waterdeep for me. Lords may have been my introduction to Worker Placement but there were things that never quite gelled in it for me. This one rectified that for me. I got the expansions & unified board play-mat at GenCon and I am looking forward to seeing how they add to the game. Most reviews have said they are excellent and I hope it is so. Maybe with their inclusion this will be higher in my post-GenCon acquisitions list, time and glory will only tell.

One of the all-time great co-ops. A game kit in a box where several scenarios use common components to differing effects. The sheer scope of the game and it's difficulty makes it the truly amazing game that it is. Looking forward to seeing if First Martians knocks it off the list.

A very unique set-collection game that uses the Smash-4/5 mechanism from video games to an excellent use in a board game. The art for each planet in it's various stages throughout time are all incredible as well. Each one was designed by a different artist and the varying styles actually all work together. So glad I have a deluxe copy of this one.

The ultimate 2 player PvP Deck-builder. There's not much I can say about this stupendous game that hasn't been already. This is Ascension done right and blows away games 4x it's cost. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this amazing game!

While I used Rise of the Runelords for the entry, this applies to the whole series. This is what Talisman in it's deepest fantasies only wishes it could scratch at becoming. All the adventure and storytelling of an RPG within a board/card game. The characters even level up throughout your adventure. Truly stands on it's own as an amazing game. Looking forward to seeing if Apocrypha can knock it off the list ;P
