September TABSCon is just around the corner (Saturday September 9th), so here's a geeklist for those of us who like to plan ahead, or others who are looking to find players for a game. meeple

Here's the FB page to say you're going, and to invite more friends:
https://www.facebook.com/events/1242155682562789/

(Have you checked out the Math trade?)

If there's a game you have that you want played, or if you have a game request, please add it to the list. If there's a game listed you'd like to join in, please add a comment under that game item (NOT to the list itself, in that pesky comment button at the bottom of the page).

You certainly don't have to schedule a game, and the library grows every time so you don't even have to bring a game, but especially for bigger, longer, wargames or higher player count games, it can really help you get the games you want to the table.

Please subscribe to the games you set up, and to the ones you sign up for, so you can get updates if people post comments. And only commit to games you can make it to - and let the organizer know if you have to cancel. When one person runs late it can mess up a whole day of scheduled games.

To keep things organized, if you're adding a game item please also list the following information:

Time:
Time Required: (incl teaching time, if necessary)
Player Count:
Openings:
Expansions:
Experience Level:
Willing to teach:
(Yes/No/I will be learning this myself/A teacher would be welcome)

Game Copy: (I have, and will bring, a copy.)

Notes:

Player Slots:

2)

Booked for the day.

This is a listing for shorter two player wargames I'd like to table.

Interested in bringing up to two titles from the following: Sekigahara: The Unification of Japan, Napoleon: The Waterloo Campaign, 1815, Julius Caesar, Wir sind das Volk!, and Shenandoah: Jackson's Valley Campaign.

Start Time: 10am to maybe 4pm at the latest.
Time Required: About 2-3 hrs per game.
Players: 2p games
Openings: Open

Experience Level: Beginners are fine.
Willing to teach: Yes. Maybe 20-30 minutes teaching time per game depending on prior gaming experience.

Game Copy: Yes, I have copies of all games listed above.

Kemet plus the Ta-Seti expansion.

Start Time: 2:00 pm, after Math Trade pickup officially closes.
Time Required: Estimate 3 hours.
Players: 3-5 players
Openings: Open

Experience Level: Beginners are fine.
Willing to teach: Yes, perhaps around 20-30 minutes to teach rules. I've only played Kemet once (base game only), so pretty green myself.

Game Copy: Yes, I have both Kemet and the Ta-Seti expansion.

Players:
1. Green guy with trinocular vision
2. Steven C
3. Cameron Ross
4. Mike

As this will be my first time playing with the expansion and the base game itself can be long (3hrs), have decided to limit this game to 4 players.

Stronghold (2nd edition)

Start Time: 10 am, but earlier if possible.
Time Required: Estimate 3 hours.
Players: 2 players
Openings: Open

Experience Level: Beginners are fine.
Willing to teach: We can selectively go over the rules/FAQ, but given the volume of rules, prefer someone who will review the rules beforehand or watch a "learn-to-play" video.

Game Copy: Yes, I have a copy.

Time: target 1:30pm - but teaching/setup beforehand during the math trade?
Time Required: 2-3 hours on the box + teaching
Player Count: 4-9
Openings: up to 6
Experience Level: 1st time for all of us, if you like trading and negotiation, you're welcome
Willing to teach: Yes

Game Copy: I'll have a friend's copy.

Notes:

I will set up somewhere upstairs near the math trade.

This is a trading and negotiation game! With a lot of simultaneous parts of the turn including timed trading sessions!

If you don't like trading and negotiation, you probably will dislike to hate it - and it's not fun to be a part of a long game you're not enjoying, and can bring things down for the whole group.

But if this sounds exciting to you, come learn it with us!

The rulebook is available on BGG:
https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/147518/sidereal-confl...

This does not include each race's player sheets and cards, which are not online, and you'll have to look over.

There are 4 simpler races and 5 harder ones - I'm happy to take a hard one.

Player Slots:[/b]
1) Jamie - Y6 (E5/U5 if we're down to 8)
2) Elton (whose copy it is) - F3 - Faderan
3) Kyle - U5
4) Megan - Z3
5) Andrei - C2?
6) Brent
7) Marc B - I4
8) James - K2
9) Sarah

James is likely
Marina is unlikely
John is a maybe for TABS

Update:

Read the rules and they're not bad at all. The tricky part is that different races have very asymmetrical setups, resources, difficulty and play styles.

So to that end, the races by difficulty are, from the introduction in the book:

First 4 are recommended for new players:
K1 - need green, have colonies- good for razor sharp focus on goals and tools to achieve them

C2 - need ships and colonies, very open to different goals. For a player comfortable choosing their own path without direction

K2 - strong economy they can craft, more independent. Good for a player who enjoys analysis and puzzles

F3 - have relic worlds that are random with situationally powerful abilities. Recommended for players who enjoy being surprised, and like to adapt to strange new opportunities midway. Fun but hard to win for a new player

Z3* - run a protection racket to get paid off or steal from others. Recommended for players who are good at being mean and threatening... but less recommended if other players are new. I think we could handle them, we just need to be aware

I4 - space nomads with extremely strong economy when maximized, but fragile and works differently because it's based on ships not colonies. Well defined but insatiable resource needs. Requires making complex bargains.

E5 - resource poor and can make others very rich. Very collaborative, and require a player who is skilled at reading the others game stages and seeing opportunity in it.

U5 - introduce wild resources, produce what everyone needs and can consume their garbage. Need to make challenging negotiations, often trading quality for quantity, with patience, and the way they use the trade and economy phases is almost backwards.

Y6 - require a very strong understanding of everyone's game state and what they need, including the tech tree dependencies. Recommended for experienced players who like to pay attention to many things at once. Need to collaborate to turn their wealth into points.

Since I'm reading all of this stuff I'm happy to take the most complex one in the game, but I recommend everyone else chooses something that jives with your natural play style or interests to maximize the fun in a first play.

If we have fewer than max players we can skip some of the harder ones.
