Skirting the cave entrance, the adventurers from across Mohrtopia stand ready to face the steel-clad rodent army that awaits within. King Mohrlock arrives on horseback, his chest puffed proud at the site of all those who stand by the banner of Mohrtopia.
“Those of you who raise their sword today in my name shall all be remembered for your contribution to the protection of Mohrtopia. However more fittingly, you will be remembered to all across our kingdom as those that did not hide in the shadows but instead stood in the light to vanquish the darkness that threatens our land. Be confident in your every action today, be proud of what you stand for. I thank you all for doing that which your kingdom needs from you. The time to stir your spirit and hone your blades is now, my friends!”
Inhaling a deep breath King Mohrlock raises the Greathorn of Mohrtopia to his lips once more and lets out a deep sound that echoes throughout the surrounding valleys. In response to the horn an ear-piercing shriek echoes from the hundreds of mice-men that have rallied inside the cave ready to fight their human adversaries.
With horn now harnessed and sword removed from scabbard the King points in the direction of the Parade of Vermin Solders.

Nartie raises his sword to swing at one of the departing mousefolk but barely scrapes it's arm as he falls backwards. Landing fair on his arse he lands in the middle of what appears to be a meeting debriefing the end of the successful battle held by Anjulka!
"Nice of you to show up, Nartie, it's been a while!" ribs Anjulka before returning to talking with fellow members of the Order of the Tower.
"...can you believe I actually bored some rats to death in my mid-battle meeting? Their heads exploded with the inanity! It was amazing!"
The small crowd surrounding Anjulka roars with laughter.
"Aye, you surely inspired me to keep pummeling those rat skulls with seeing your magic!" exclaimed Blackgold369. "The battle is far from over I fear, but I have a good friend who will join us soon!"
Wishing to stay ominous Blackgold369 ends the conversation there as silence descends upon the crowd. A familiar sound of the thudding of hooves upon the crimson-sprayed grass from outside the cave echoes within.
"King Mohrlock! He has returned!" shouts Unknown Ediology as he puts away his scroll and quill, another adventure's accolades recorded.
"My great warriors, wizards and wanderers from across the realm! Thank you raising your banners and aiding to this call to arms, but most importantly dispatching of this formidable army of vermin. My sincere gratitude to you all. We surely have much to investigate with the current events!"
As King Mohrlock finishes his sentence the cave shudders briefly, dust and small pebbles dislodging from the ceiling of the cave upon the adventurers still inside. A shrill scream erupts from a small opening to the rear of the cave where the Cult of Mohrtis and the Parade of Vermin Soldiers had enterred from.
The cave shudders once more however this time it does not stop. Pillars begin to crack and segments of the cave begin to collapse.
"We must act with haste, my friends!" bellows King Mohrlock before galloping out the mouth of the cave, his horse pacing back and forth impatiently. "I must return to Mohrtopia, what shall you all choose to do? You must all decide together!"Mohrlock wrote:As words flurry between all the adventurers amongst the commotion of a collapsing cave, a familiar baritone voice echoes from the crowd.
“Throw caution at the wind and power through” shouts Xeserox as he runs down the stairwell at the back of the cave with reckless abandon.
Bewildered by the craziness ensuing as larger chunks of rock fall from the surrounding walls, the army gathered make a conscious and contentious decision to follow Xeserox.
As the stairs lead deeper and deeper, a glowing yellow light dims away leaving behind nothing but the flickering of flames from sconces upon the stairwell walls. The rumbling dissipates in unison with the failed yellow light.
The adventurers reach an archway at the base of the stairs which opens up to a large circular room. The walls curve to the rooftop to form a dome of polished stone. Along the rim of the roof are etchings. As the room fills, occasionally one of the etchings lights up. A pattern begins to emerge.
“Look up there, they seem to be etchings of people!” shouts an adventurer.
“And below! Those numerals!? What does that mean?” remarks another.
The etchings each represent a set of five people standing side by side, below are numerals separated by dashes.
With the last of the large party entering the domed room there appears to be half of the sets of etchings lit up with a red glowing light, with their numerals lighting up below as well. The remainder of the etchings lay dormant and there appears to be no pattern that anyone can work out amongst the carvings.
“I’ve read about these before…” exclaims Unknown Ediology, “…The Ten Rites of Bone! The Aethermancers who ruled before our King saved the lands by sealing away a fearsome dragon that threatened the existence of all. I think I know how…”
Before Unknown Ediology can complete his sentence, a hum resonates from the walls of the room. A heavy wind arrives from out of nowhere and all the sconces extinguish at the same time. The room is left absolutely pitch black. The clank of metal whipsers in the darkness as adventurers grip their weapons and adjust their armour in the dark, preparing for the unknown as the winds tame to silence.
Once more, far more voluminous than ever before, a shriek echoes from within the room as the room radiates with a blinding yellow light. Adventurers shield their eyes momentarily as the brightness fades slightly. Towering above all the adventurers is a familiar yet unfamiliar site, recognizable but different at the same time.
A gasp erupts from the crowd “Mohrtis!”

Adventurers muffle their ears with any available hands, others writhe due to not willing to release grasp on their weaponary.
Dust fills the air from the ethereal dragon's disruption to the surrounding structure. Flaeryn notices engravings below her feet, words in a tongue from long ago in Mohrtopia's history. "I recognize this text! It is referring to the Glyphs!"
"I'm not sure we have time to worry about reading that!" shouts Nartie as he charges at the dragon for another strike.
"There may be an option to at least regroup!" yells Wildthayne, "Over there, an opening!"
On the other side of the room there is a second archway, matching the one the army had came down to investigate the room. Previously the imposing form of Mohrtis had blocked it's view, however now Mohrtis coils back in a corner defensively and awaiting the next person fearless enough to approach.Mohrlock wrote:"We must stay and defeat Mohrtis, there is no other way!" shouts Ljtrigirl.
"I've got it!" exclaims Flaeryn, finally being able to read the text.
"Circle surrounding, enclose that which we fear.
Fifty measures of new blood, mind remain clear.
Cantrip abound, future to ammend.
Raise the true soul, our lord to ascend!"
The walls rumble once more and the ceiling begins to shift after the words that have been proclaimed by Flaeryn. Stone grinds upon stone as lights fill several of the glyphs with a glowing red light then fades.
Mohrtis drops to the ground, coiling and arching onto it's back. His tail lashes around as it's claws grasp at the ceiling, not able to reach anything above.
A shriek fills the air as a final adventurer runs through the second archway, where the other newcomers had arrived. Tutunaku wipes the sweat of panic from his forehead, disregarding the dragon in it's dance of death.
"King Mohrlock! His fortress has been sieged! The robed ones from the Aetherealm have taken the castle! We could not get to his throne room in time!"
The dread of the moment fills the crowd for a moment before a staggering bright light envelopes the entire cave. A deep roar fills the air, making the very armour each adventure wears vibrate and clank together from the sound.
As the light fades the room has doubled in size and in place of the body of the fallen Mohrtis stands a proud being. Emitting a yellow glow and adorned with feathers of silken appearance stands Mohrtis embodying a new form.
"I think we were a little short on that new blood, right guys?" hesitantly states Flaeryn.
The new ceiling reveals numerals once more in sets of 4 numbers. Each representing a staggered combination far dissimilar to that which was revealed before.
