Inspired by the "Solitaire Games on Your Table" Geeklists, I think it would be fun to have something like that for coop games.

The rules are simple:
- play a coop game
- add an entry to this list, where you share your experience
- discuss and have fun!

And if you aren't yet, become a member of the Cooperative Game Geeks (if you like).

After work session with two colleagues - first time I played with more than two players.

In the first room we lost one marine and where able to revive him (through some event). In the second room we lost four marines in one round, so it looked quite dire. But from then on we had a combination of good tactical maneuvering and luck, so we saved humanity without any further losses.

I love this games - it's a hard, but very thematic game. I enjoy it every single time, even though we have a really bad win:lose ratio.

(Unfortunately forgot to take a photo...)

We've been playing Spirit Island at least a few times a week lately. Very addictive! Lots of different spirits to play, each with a very distinct play style. Tons of abilities to gain during the game so it has a lot of variety.

Played Aeon's End against the Magus of Cloaks. Yikes, is that thing nasty! You need a constant steam of attacks to even stand a chance. Took us three plays to get a win. In the game we won, we'd run the Magus' deck out, but it had a power out that makes it win the game when it resolves, so we had to defeat it before the power triggered!

A nice filler co-op, good to play over a meal. Lisa and I have been playing a lot of this, using the "campaign" map.

Out last game was in Mumbai; a 6-5. Our clues included "The Sound of Music", "The Wizard of Oz" (we allow names and titles as multi-word clues). And "Oscorp" (for Spider, Lab and Fall...and she actually got Fall!), so I guess we had very "media" theme going on!

So Lisa and I have been playing a ton of Terraforming Mars with a very simple 2 player co-op variant; just a tweak on the solo rules.

* Set up cities and forests per the solo rules.
* Each player starts at 14 TR, like the solo rules.
* The players have 12 generations (rather than 14 as in the solo rules) to completely terraform the planet and get as high a score as possible.
* Any card that would remove resources or production from an opponent instead ADDS the corresponding resource or production to your ally.
* Each generation (except during setup), players may trade one of the cards they received to draft.

This has been a fun co-op experience. 11 turns to terraform would be good if you want a tough challenge; 12 is usually doable (though often we have to sacrifice cards we wanted to build for points), but we really enjoy trying to build up to get as high score as possible as well as just terraforming as fast as we can, and 12 works well for that.

Some notes on attack cards:
* If a card would "steal", then both you and your ally will gain the resources.
* You can use Ants or Predators to ADD a token to an ally's card and add it to your own.

I am visiting a friend in Australia for the next two weeks, and he got this to play together. First month today was a win, but Beijing was hit quite hard.

We both already knew Pandemic and have played it together in the past, so this felt like familiar territory, but with a very nice twist. We look forward to continue strategizing together!

On Saturday, I was able to try out the new co-op mode that was added in the Kickstarter for the expansion at our 1st Adirondacon. We played on the 2nd map, Broken Plains. Co-op mode is still in beta, and I've only played it once, so you might want to take my first impressions with a grain of salt.

Co-op can be played with any of the game modes: arcade, campaign, etc... It adds more stories to the map, and you can take your time as you aren't necessarily racing to get tents out like with the competitive mode. The game ends when someone uses all their tents like normal, but depending on how many turns you take, you need a higher cumulative score based on player count. There are also 4 bosses you need to defeat to win. When you encounter a threat, you can choose to fight one of these bosses instead of the normal threat deck. Duels are optional, and players on the same space can trade resources, but not artifacts. It now costs food to enter the mine. There are new threats that don't require tents as well, and some that give additional rewards. The time track gives you more or less rounds depending on player count and how difficult a game you want.

We thought it would be hard to get enough points to beat the boss, but ended up winning with 214 combined points. We had a 4th person start with us to see what it was all about, but he had to leave for a scheduled game pretty early, so we didn't count him as much for the scoring as we would with a full 4. We needed 60 per person based on where we were on the time track at the end of the game.

Our initial impressions were that the co-op mode is pretty awesome. One player had to keep from putting down too many tents because he was used to playing the game competitively. We made heavy use of trading and buying rep at the end. Seemed balanced to me, but that is only after one play. After slowing down a bit, we were able to complete all our artifacts. I got a companion, but was unable to put him to good use afterward.

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite game now, even though I've only played 2.5 times. Co-op is like icing on the cake, and we all in agreement that we would always want to play this way laugh I haven't tested out the minions yet, but that looks like it would add another difficulty layer for those who have played a while and acquired talents.

We lost early February. All went quite well at the beginning, but it turned out I had shuffled all the yellow cards to the bottom of the player deck. No time left to develop the cure. That won‘t happen again, though, we decided to make yellow curable outside of a research station.

My medic now has fear of small planes and has trouble leaving a city with three cubes, but also can treat an adjacent city and won‘t get more scars from outbreaks. Really hope he survives a few more months (we named him after my friend‘s little son, which really increases the tension a bit... whistle)

Amazing game! meeple

Played this for the first time with a few people on Tabletop Simulator yesterday. I didn't end up backing the Kickstarter on it because it came out right after I'd backed a few similar games; a friend of mine has it, but he seriously has 35-40 games I want to play and we don't play together often enough (I think Gloomhaven's taken over his life, but I digress).

The game took longer that it should have (4.5 hours with explanation), and I didn't catch some of the explanation because it took forever to load, but it was easy enough and I went last in turn order, so I got to watch everyone else's turn. Unfortunately someone else took my favorite color (purple) and the character I wanted (Whisper), but I played with the ranger, which was pretty good, especially once I got shadow mode (denying monsters their defense die is pretty nice).

It seems that at lvl 3 we plowed through the enemies without much trouble, although Whisper got one-shotted at one point due to an unfortunate roll, but we had Lifebringer, so it was okay.

I was able to obliterate a wandering unicorn monster on my turn, without even using my lvl 4 skills, but the craziest thing was when Whisper used her whole turn just to move back and forth between two adjacent groups of enemies thanks to improved slippery and some boots she picked up, allowing for extra movement - dance of death, indeed!

I enjoyed this game, but it seems there might be balance issues.

Played several four player games with friends who didn’t know it beforehand. Five games from easy to extra hard; won all but the first extra hard game.

It’s interesting to see how you develop a shared language over time, especially if you know which anomalies are in the game (we kept everything together and just added new ones when increasing difficulty).

It was a blast, will likely play again, soon!

We are in September, now. Wow, that story took an interesting turn. We won the last month, but it was a devastating win. Didn’t pick the end game boni yet, because we first had to digest what happened. We didn’t yet see an obviously best (or even just good) option on how to adapt our strategy.

The rules are starting to get quite complex. We regularly notice that we forgot one, which made the game a bit easier. We don’t fret about it, though - it’s really more about the story, for us.

Love this game!

Finished the year. 839 points (of 1000), which apparently is quite a good result. And most importantly: it was lots of fun, definitely would recommend it!

This is the end state of the board:

Spoiler (click to reveal)

Unfortunately, I won‘t stay long enough to also play the just released second season...

Since the second season of Pandemic wasn‘t available yet, we got this for the second part of our road trip.

Yesterday we came close to winning the beginner‘s scenario. We learned that we played the „range“ rule wrongly (you are only in range in the same room, doesn‘t go though doors). We plan to give it another try this night.

I‘m not sure I‘m a fan of the app integration. It‘s definitely nice how it supports randomization in a way that wouldn‘t easily be possible with a pure offline board game. But I also find that it kinda distracts from the whole experience, up to being a bit annoying. Oh, well...
