The new shiny second edition of London got it's first outing and very good it was. The map has gone, replaced by borough cards and in the process the borough spamming semi-exploit has been largely neutered, which is a good thing.

The new artwork is rather spiffing and Andrew waxed lyrical about the design of the new box.

The game saw Andrew sneakily building a non-exhaustable (i.e. the cards didn't flip) blue-engine which also concealed a disturbing number of cards that were simply worth VP. I ran a 'brown' city which was generating income from my bridge and kept ticking over in terms of in-game VP and money to allow me to buy boroughs. Connor was erm....getting to grips with the game and admiring the scenery. A late splurge of Underground building and running I thought had taken me out of sight but Andrew's sneaky VP buildings resulted in a tighter scoreline at the end than I had thought.

Gordon 85
Andrew 81
Connor 19

I like the new edition.

Played by Biblical J (Saxony), Nerijus (Rusivet) and Ingrid (Polonia)

We farmed, we built tunnels, gained popularity and power using wooden tokens and player board to represent our moving, producing, trading and bolstering.

Nerijus moves a lot but was unpopular. Ingrid and I were beloved by the local population and none of us got our heads around the end game bonuses. I managed to keep lots of things ticking over which meant I was about to place 4 stars in 2 turns rushing to the game end before Ingrid (1 star) and Nerijus (0 stars) realised what had happened.

James 77
Ingrid 44
Nerijus 29

We bid on tiles and created lovely Scottish tableaux scoring points for whiskey, sheep and boats - sounds like a night out with Freddie Flintoff.

Nerijus concentrated on animals and farms and was ahead most of the way with Ingrid and I close behind picking up the extra cash but not too far behind. I managed to scrape ahead on end game scoring with a completed lake scoring double in the end

James 43
Nerijus 37
Ingrid 36

A gripping little game played for the first time and very much a learning opportunity.

An American win despite losing most of their fleet while the Japanese lost only a few ships; the American retained Guadalcanal. However, we managed to get a lot of rules wrong so another outing is due.

A very neat poker-style wargame trying to work out what the other is planning and getting the upper hand.

A few weeks ago, so forgive my cloudiness.

Very much enjoyed this. I focused on the end game scoring and neglected to place any trains or boats so struggling in the 3 scoring rounds for decent points during the game.

The action selection mechanism is really good and optimising colour choice given what others are doing makes for some crunchy decisions.

Scores were:

James 192
Paul 161
Chris 121

Second play of this. It feels like two games rolled into one with the turned order determined by your choice of card played, then everyone picks from the cards played in order and builds their tableaux.

I always found myself playing the card I wanted, rather than a specific card for choice in the round. I think the turn order mechanism in Kingdomino might be better for a similar sort of game.

Connor started and Gordon took over after he had to dash for a train, but even though he didn't really know the rules, it didn't seem to stop him.

Scores were:

Paul 74
Andrew 69
James 58
Connor/Gordon 55
Chris 50
