Over the past week I've been spray gluing and cutting hexes, shares, private companies, trains, and a basic board on 1.5mm chipboard.

I also have been working on custom box art which I plan to have made through www.printplaygames.com.

Pretty much all that's left for me to do to play the game is to cut up a dowel for the company markers, sand, prime, paint them, and then punch and glue the company decals on from a sticker sheet.

I'll take photos and link a post to the completed project when I'm finished!

We like playing Qwirkle with our kids as a peaceful family game that creates a colorful labyrinth of tiles on the table. Even if we do not play very competitive, our 9 years old likes looking for the best-scoring move. However, it is still far more difficult for our 6 years old. It is really hard for her to spot a good move especially since the Qwirkle scoring may be considered somehow counter-intuitive - you often score more points by placing less tiles. Moreover, she is not a maths expert yet

So I want to try Latice which has the same tile matching rules as Qwirkle but no scoring and a far more intuitive winning condition - the first player to place all her tiles on the board wins. I could almost improvise a copy with our Qwirkle set but I will try a complete build.

Little update : I got the pnp file from the designer's webpage, which is great, but then I started thinking - there is sun, there is wind, we definitely need some kites in this gorgeous blue sky. So here is my take on the tiles : six different kites in six different colours + the wind tile which is the original art.

From gallery of tomaszek

Now I just need to cut, sand and paint some 84 tiles...

OMG it's been too long since I've been able to make anything or post anything. This is largely due to my Sister in Law. Very long story short, she moved in with us a little over 3 years ago. She was supposed to be with us for three MONTHS. We had to evict her and go through that whole process.

The issue is that she took over all my space and "re-arranged" all my gaming supplies. She did this based on what made sense to HER and not me. I asked her many MANY times not to, but she did anyway.

Now that she isn't here anymore, the slow process of where she put what can begin. But for starters BEHOLD!

I made the mistake of not putting some of the bits in BEFORE gluing to make sure I had space so I had to pop some out and re-glue them. I'm pretty happy with the result, and lots of room for the expansions!

The pnp for this is supposed to be released next week sometime (was supposed to be today but issues came up...sigh). If and when it gets released next week, it will become an immediate priority.

Finished off my pnp copy...hope to get in a play at PAX tomorrow.

I've got Eclipse cool as a present (it was my dream for 5-6 years - I have some doubts wether there will be company for playing it). So now I plan to craft player references (card format) and foamcore insert. I don't plan to buy expansions just now, so I'll craft foamcore just for base game.

And I also make roadmap for my next pnp-projects:
1) Mint Delivery
2) Project Discovery
3) Rococo Jewelry Box expansion for Rococo

Fusion: Asteroid Mining is another entry from the 2017 Solitaire PnP Contest. The graphic design is top notch, and I'm a sucker for all things space. It has some pretty cool mechanics that remind me a little of Haze Islands. It's a fun little game and I recommend checking it out.

Certain Stars is an entry in the 2017 Mint Tin Contest. It is playable both cooperative and solo so I figured I'd give it a shot. So far, I really like this puzzle game. I played a quick sample game and am looking forward to actually playing a full game counting points. With the variety of constellations to choose from this game should have a good amount of replayability without getting old too quickly.

Very easy and cheap build!

I found a mini Reversi set for $3 at a local game store. I then found a tin box for gift cards at a drugstore. I printed the board on label paper, then stuck the board halves inside the box. That's it!

The board itself is a bit too small, but now at least I have a travel-sized game to play games on a 5x5x5 hex board, including Yavalath, Pentalath and others listed on Games with Boards of 61 Hexagons (5 per side)

In November, I finished my "3-in-1 tile set" project. You can use it to play Gipsy King (by adding wooden sticks), Battle Sheep (by adding stackable discs) and König von Siam (by adding cubes, tokens and cards. Well the play area is a bit small but otherwise the two other games' play area would have been a bit large.)

The 23 (mostly) double-sided tiles are made from stickered laser-cut MDF. All nice and portable in a small box.

my home made Clue Express, i changed the design a bit, i go with the same illustrations that used for love letter as my group is familiar with them

From gallery of Zelguedez

all the components

From gallery of Zelguedez

custom dice and the characters

From gallery of Zelguedez

and everything fits into a small box, not as small as the original game i concede but is the standart box size i use.

the dice are 1 inch MDF cubes with stickers, the character cards and the game boards are sticked into 3mm MDF, the record pads are printed into medium couche and laminated, not sure about how will result this ones in game must wait to give them a try.

now i can use Love Letter, Secret Moon and Clue with the same characters

I've had my eye on this game since the 2015 Solitaire PnP Contest. It has popped up in a few places lately and I was reminded that I was planning on building it eventually. I was holding out hope that it might receive a full color art update, but after 2 years I thought it was about time to just build it
I am an optimist at heart though, so I put together a quick build rather than my usual full works version.

All the things:
Board Game: Card Quest: Kingdoms

I've played two of the scenarios and Card Quest makes use of some really neat card design and mechanics. What appears to be 1 deck of cards actually does the work of 3 different decks. It's a fun little filler that has the player completing fetch quest and defeating a monsters all while collecting loot to increase her strength.

I recommend checking it out, especially given that it doesn't take a high level of skill to put it together.

Making magnetic travel games from gift card tin boxes is easy and fun!

Some lessons I learned about making these:
* A board that spans both lids and requires that you keep these board halves aligned with each other unfortunately does not yield a playable game:
- The surface of tin boxes are slippery, so the board halves move around a lot.
- The edges of the tin box form a barrier right in the middle of the game, often obscuring the view of pieces that are in the middle.
- If you have a grid with lines that aren't perpendicular to the edges of the box (such a hex grid), those lines that cross the centre of the board will be distorted.

So instead of creating a Hex board, which would have to span both lids, I made a Poly Join board, which could be played on a bigger variety of hex grids. (Whether or not it's a good game with the board I created remains to be seen!)

* If a game doesn't require players to remove or move pieces once they're placed, then you can create a really dense grid where pieces touch each other. As the pieces that I'm using are magnetic, they don't shift too much when players play pieces in crowded areas on the board!

when i found Nandeck in the files section of Dungeon! i know that i have to do my own cards, but i want to pimp up a bit the cards with a small redesign, something easy buuut when i finish i ended with a futuristic design wow what happen in the way? i still do not know.

some examples, i still need to redesign the backs, also i want to the same with the treasures but i am a bit clumsy with nandeck so i have to meddle a bit with it.

another thing that keeps bugging me, is that i want to craft a board with this futuristic/cyberpunk theme, but the amount of work (design) for that kind of redesign overwhelm me.
