2017 Edition of Look What My Secret Santa Sent Me…
- Gary C(ghcstr)United States
Along with most of you, I am very grateful to Octavian for keeping Secret Santa rolling. As many of you are probably veterans at this list, I will dispense with any other introduction and simply get to the usual instructions and suggestions, as follows:
For those of you who are new to the list:
I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.
Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to place a note on your profile page with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That will allow your Secret Santa to easily look at your profile to see if/when you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift on this list without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!
Please only make an entry when you actually receive the gift! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order.
I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly (in 2015 there were 85 pages with 2105 unique entries to sort through!!) so those pages will fill up quickly. (Santas: you may find it convenient to subscribe to your target to see all their BGG activity...not weird at all, trust me... )

Further helpful hints:
IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than just place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there plus your Santa who may be looking for your entry by clicking on your GeekList items from your profile! Listing an item in the comments will simply be missed by many of the readers. Please create an actual GeekList Item entry.
A good example of how to make one single entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.
Making an actual entry just makes it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.
If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, or to finally be able to communicate to your Santa while maintaining the anonymity, do can do so from your Secret Santa page where you have two brand new options on the Secret Santa page - "Send Message to Your Gifter" and "Send Message to Your Recipient" That is a great new feature which should be much better than the cumbersome Santa geekmail account, thanks to the admins for that feature!
If you have a Secret Santa related GeekList or Forum conversation you would like added, send me a GeekMail and I will add it here:

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the list! If you are a yearly subscriber, prepare to have your days/weeks/months consumed by checking the new messages for the foreseeable future! DISCLAIMER: I do not assume any responsibility for your lack of productivity over the next two months as you obsess over the new entries
