This list is meant to be a concise perusal for those times we wish to browse for something new and don't have endless time to comb through the SGOYT list. Anyone can post an item but only one item.

Please share your experiences of the solitaire games you played for the first time this past month.

In order to assist with collecting Statistics from these lists, please post an entry with your chosen game of the month, and use the "insert board game" feature to add other games you mention in your entry.

Format is completely up to you but I reiterate the requirement of one geeklist item per user.

This is a great deckbuilder with a lot going on. Got the all-in KS pledge, so tons of variety. And a lot to consider while playing, without being overwhelming. A keeper!

Got Exodus: Event Horizon with the base game from KS. Already had ordered Edge of Extinction and the promos separately. It's nice that you can add modules one by one, and the new solo mode is good. My only concern is that with the small map for solo play it feels kinda short. Still fun, though. I look forward to trying the coop game multiplayer.

Sub Terra Collector's Edition was another nice surprise. It's a relatively simple dungeon crawler, but definitely fun. The big collector's box is ridiculous, though.

Valeria: Card Kingdoms turned out to be an ok game - especially compared to Villages and Quests from the series, which were real downers as a solo experience. Not sure it's worth keeping with so many much-more-than-ok games on the shelves, though.

21 Days was the big disappointment of the month. Looked so promising, turned out to be soooo boring. Read more about it here...

I wouldn't really call Space Alert a solo-playable game. I mean, there are official rules for it, but even those sound more like "you could do this if you want, but why would you?" A blast to play with the right bunch of people, though!

Vengeance
Vengeance was my favorite new to me solitaire game of November 2017. It is however, a near perfect fit for me. I love games with lots of cool miniatures, and the theme here is well integrated, and captures the feel of revenge films quite elegantly. I am also a fan of the dice puzzles, and dice manipulation, which this game features in spades! Spend Montage turns in order to mitigate future bad luck is just a perfect adaptation of the game's theme.

I've played it solitaire four times now, but actually look forward to trying it with others as it seems a bit too easy to beat solo. There are many easy ways to make it more difficult, but there's nothing included in the rules about it.

Aeon's End
Aeon's End is my runner up, but also a cheat as I didn't play it solo. That said, it seems like this would be a blast to play solitaire, and I would love to tackle the challenge of running through some of the big bads.

I tried two new-to-me solo games and enjoyed them both. I've played 7 solo games and have yet to win, but had a lot of fun. I also played and really enjoyed Noch mal!.

I traded for this recently. I have Star Trek: Frontiers and, while I enjoy the game mechanisms, I find that ti feels fairly thematically disconnected. While I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, I watched a lot of it as a teenager, and find the idea of Picard or Sisko subjugating alien space stations to be ludicrous. I decided I should give Mage Knight a try to see how it compares, especially since it's the darling of the Solo Top 100 list.

After my first play, I immediately went out and bought the Lost Legion expansion. While I prefer scifi over fantasy, the theming just works so much better! I also prefer the slightly more complicated rules of night and day. LL definitely kicks the game up a few notches too, by increasing the variety of enemies and adding a smart AI opponent.

TL;DR Mage Knight completely displaced Star Trek: Frontier in my collection.

Won me over instantly.

So much so, it made #18 in my top 20.

I just love the puzzle each game presents.

It plays super fast too and sets up again quickly. Played it 10 times the first day I had it.

I haven't even read the books but I think I will now and then it will probably go up my rankings.

I am planning to learn Magic Realm this year but I decided to dip my toe in the water with this first.

It uses most of the basic mechanisms and plays in 30 mins.

Just a great thematic story telling experience. My alchemist who absorbed a demon and then fought trolls and dragons was a particular highlight. Played it 12 times in just a few days and almost resubmitted my top 20 to Kevin with this on the list.

Adding the Magic Realm Light 30 Asterisk Expansion made it even better.

This is more than a toe in the water. It's at least up to the ankle, possibly the knee.

I'm so excited to start the real game now.

I am still in catch-up mode so I receive a lot of new solo games, Here are some of them in November:

Legacy of Dragonholt is very interesting. You can see my report here:
Legacy of Dragonholt Report

Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game

This is a great card game. I finally got a clean copy to play.

Aeon's End: War Eternal

Made my top 20 @ number 6.

Anachrony

I saw the huge box first in my FLGS. It was tucked in the corner and I took it out and started to read the back of the box. It was so interesting I ended up buying it. I am glad that I did now.

Nemo's War (second edition)

Beautiful game.

Comanchería: The Rise and Fall of the Comanche Empire

Intimidating at first but a great design.

I had a busy, stressful month, and it's not looking to back down for a couple more weeks yet, but I did manage to teach myself the intro game to Castellion. I beat it and am looking forward to exploring it further! I just wish I had an easier time shuffling the tiles. But they look so pretty and orderly when I play them; I can forgive them for being awkward in my hands when they look so nice on the table.

That was the only new solo game for me this month, alas. Though I did finally manage to beat Shadowrun: Crossfire for the first time, and that feels like a big accomplishment.

I think I'm going to continue to use this list to just talk up the one new game each month that was head and shoulders above the rest...

Anachrony was the stand-out game of November. It took me a while to learn the visual cues and mechanics of the game as well at the Chronobot's board, but now everything comes easy.

I think Anachrony and Scythe might be the two most beautiful games I own. The art here is amazing...you could picture parts of the game as a cover for a science fiction book...

There's a ton of options in the box as far as characters to play, and the Chronobot has a lot of variety in its actions, making for quite a bit of game in the box.

Set up is long, but I think this game has staying power so I'll probably invest in the meeple realty storage solution.

Nothing else in November came close to the fun of discovering this game; how to read it, how to play it...now I just have to work on learning how to win it!

I kept meaning to post, and then continued procrastinating. At least I'm squeaking this in with a few days left in the month.

I really enjoyed my solo play of this one. It's a thinky puzzle with quite a bit of setup variability, including different clan powers and in-game scoring goals. The components are fabulous, though I would have liked player boards with cutouts, at least to keep the shipping upgrade tracker in place. The dice add a dash of unpredictability without making the game too random.

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes engine-building Euros and doesn't mind high score games.
