1 Player Guild / SGOYT - 2018 Solitaire Goals
Solo Gamers are NOT lonely!
Together We Game Alone (1 Player Guild)
Are there any goals you would like to complete for 2018? Didn't finish yours from last year? Well here's a collective place to put them together and chat about it if you like. This is not a contest or a challenge. Just another place to keep track of more stuff. Us 1PGers love our tracking lists.
Here's what to do:
First, Create a geeklist item, choose any game you want, and within that item, list your solitaire goals you'd like to achieve this year. Please keep it to one geeklist item for yourself. Update as often as you like. Your geeklist item will be your "real estate". Comments below for anyone to use. You can use your geeklist item however you like!
• List goals all clumped together
• List goals month by month
• List one goal and when you accomplish it add a new goal
• List one goal period... there's no lower or upper limit
In fact, there are no limits at all! Do what you like. The only thing I ask, is to only add one geeklist item, so that it doesn't get flooded and those that want to keep track of you only need to go one place. You can also try keeping goals you don't plan to do anymore. Maybe put them at the bottom, cross them out and explain why. For example, you traded the game away or something.
Why did I make this list? I made the first list in 2015. Throughout the year, I would tell myself that I wanted to accomplish certain things with games. Whether it was to finally win at it, or at least play it a few more times, or accomplish all the scenarios, etc. But I'd forget, move on, and do other things, and sometimes remember and think to myself, "I'll get around to it". Well, I never "got around to it", and most of the time I would forget.
There is no pressure to finish anything. If you don't complete one goal by the end of the year, that's fine! That's not the purpose of this list.

1 Player Guild / SGOYT - 2015 Solitaire Goals
Hey, you're touching my face...
After playing almost every game in my collection over 2017 (with only a couple big omissions), I'm going to create some smaller goals for this year.
Complete play of Comancheria (all eras I should say)
Win This War of Mine
Take an objective in Fields of Fire
The Lost Cause: One Wargamers' Solitaire Challenge
My goal in 2018 is to play through more war games that I own (as of December 31 2017) than purchase during 2018. This is being done to both deter myself from purchasing new games (which will please the wife), allow me to re-experience some of the excellent titles I've already played, and reduce the number of games on my shelf of shame (unplayed). Which is far too large.
2.0) Challenge Guidelines
I won't be keeping track of individual plays beyond the first during 2018. I won't count as a "play through" me learning the rules by pushing the counters around for a few turns, or playing introductory scenarios or tutorials. It has to be the full, complete game. Within reason of course. Hey it's my challenge, my rules.
3.0) Games Traded Away or Sold
Churning games counts against me. What I mean is that if I sell or trade a war game that I owned at the end of 2017 that I haven't played yet, and aquire a new game, that will reduce my available pool of games I can complete from 2017. It also counts as a game purchased in 2018. Again, the intention here is to encourage me to play through the games on my shelves, while keeping new acquisitions to a minimum.
4.0) Games that Qualify
For purposes of this list, I am counting wargames only. I do dabble in some Ameritrash and the occasional (very occasional) euro. I also play wargames on the computer, and on the Xbox... none of those count either. This challenge is for the games in my collection that I personally would classify as wargames. The vast majority of games will be classified by BGG under type as "Wargames". For the ones that aren't, yet are on my list, see the last sentence of 2.0.

Amy (Other Amy)
Yay! I love this list! I have lots of goals. I'll add them when I'm at a real computer
OK! Here I go!
Complete the review of my possessions (including board games and video games) outlined by Marie Kondo's Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. (I did the first step on my wardrobe two years ago, and I loved having only items that brought me joy in my closet. Unfortunately the next subject was books, and I wasn't ready to deal with that so I quit. I'm in a better place now and I'd like to finish my home.)
Finish out my spare bedroom as a game room/office. (I made great progress on this in 2017, much better than I ever dreamed I would. I have a big card table and a little card table, and I have all the games on the shelf in the closets or the bookshelf. I bought two Kallax when they were on sale at Ikea, and I asked for and received a drill for Christmas to help me put them together. Now I just have to actually do that, and also have someone come get a couple of pieces of furniture I need to get rid of out of there.)
Go to a board game event at a FLGS. (Arkham Horror Invocation, 1/3/18 1/21/18 (silly FLGS!)! Because they have promo I want, of course!) Update 1/25/18: Wouldn't you know I would be all set to go and give myself all kinds of gold stars for going and playing a game at an actual FLGS, when my beloved Colorado decided we should have 6 inches of snow. The FLGS in question is in Longmont, and I decided that driving up for a card and a playmat was extremely stupid. So I skipped the event at the FLGS part, and am instead just driving up today to get the promo. Such is life!
Go to the 2018 Conclave of Gamers/B-Con in Denver. (This is a definite maybe. A lot depends on how the depression is doing. If they have an auction, I'd like to be industrious enough to sell some things that aren't a good fit for me, because then I wouldn't have to deal with shipping.)
Get back in the swing of reading and reviewing books, depression permitting. (I will be setting my Goodreads challenge to 1 again, then going for whatever I can get read.) [Books: 5/??? Reviews: 3/???]
Continue to abstain from video games as long as they seem to amplify the depression. (I have some great games I'd really like to play, but I just can't if it intensifies my problems. Hence no other video game goals on this list right now.)
Just live better. 2016 was a horrific year, and depression suddenly became an active thing that I have to manage and plan around, and I hate it. 2017 was better. I learned to cope some and dug out some root causes and I'm managing. I so deeply want to feel healthy again, but I'm managing, and that's good enough for now. I just want 2018 to be better still.

I really like the Creative 12x12 Challenge Val is running, but I'm not feeling up a 12x12 that works in quite this way, as I may be playing a bunch of campaign games one at a time this year. So I'd like to do a 12x1 for the categories, which I'll just plop here as that's not really in keeping with the challenge of that Geeklist.
Monsters of Time and Space Arkham Horror: LCG
It Must Be Magic
"Tell Me More..." The Dunwich Legacy

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue Magic Realm

Back by Popular Demand: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Kingdom Death: Monster
Alternate: Get In Character
In case of video games?
Glad this isn't a challenge. I promised myself no more challenges for 2018.
That said, my stated goals here will support completing the challenge in a small way. My goal is to learn the solitaire/solo variant rules on three to five games that I already own. This means that that I'll be able to play through with checking rules only a few times for clarification. Currently, this need to check and clarify is keeping me from playing these games.
The designated games include:
- Far Space Foundry
- Leaving Earth
- High Frontier (3rd edition)
- Lewis & Clark
I've put them in the order I'll be tackling them, starting and ending with the ones I believe will be the easiest ones to learn.
Play ≥ 8 different solitaire* games per month.
Play ≥ 100 different solitaire* games within the year.
GAMES PLAYED SOLITAIRE* (2018) 14
*SOLITAIRE refers to solitaire, solitaire variant, cooperative, or in some cases playing all-sides.
2017 Solitaire Games Played: 49
I plan to release 12 (YES 12!!) expansions for DWSSG2e this year - one per month so each Doctor from Hartnell to Capaldi will get their own expansion.
The first Saturday of each month is release day - so AOTAS1: The First Doctor is less than 2 weeks away!
Wish me luck!!

2) Beat all the solo Runebound (Third Edition) scenarios
3) Beat Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) RtL Campaign- Nerekhall Campaign
4) Beat Elder Sign expansions solo
Elder Sign: Omens of Ice

Elder Sign: Omens of the Pharaoh (when it releases)
5) Beat all the villains in Sentinels of the Multiverse
