As a new years resolution, my wife and I have decided to go head to head and play our entire collection before the first of june. All the games will be played 2 player.

I enjoy all types of games, especially civilization building and dudes on a map type games. I also enjoy medium/heavy euros. My favorite games include forbidden stars, civilization and scythe.

My wife mostly enjoys euros that are light on player interaction. Games have to feel non confrontational where playing efficiently is best strategy. Her favorites include Concordia, castles of burgundy and viticulture.

We've decided to make the list mainly to keep track of our plays so the opinions will be kept short.

A game I got back in 2015 but only had a few plays. I was surprised at how much player interaction there was considering other games of this type,such as ticket to Ride, feel like each player is doing there own thing. The ruleset is extremely simple and the map feels very crowded at the end leading to some interesting choices.

As with other games of this complexity, replayability becomes an issue in the long run. Though the game has variable objective, the general strategy feels the same.

Id recommend this game for purchase only if you intend to play it with people who are new to the hobby.

That being said, My wife on the other hand saw no issues with the above point and would not turn down a game in the future.

Nice little gateway game even though there's not much to it. I actually enjoy the 2 player variant over the regular game as the 3rd neutral player adds another much needed layer of strategy to the game.

With the neutral player, blocking your opponent becomes much more prominent and adds a "take that" element to the game. my wife does not enjoy the additional conflict this brings to the game and I can see why as you can really ruin your opponent's game.

Again the simplicity of the game will most likely bring about replayability issues. The characters add variety only in the sense that you prioritize certain spaces but at the end of the day you're doing the exact same thing every game.

We actually just played this for the first time and had a complete blast. I normally don't go for these kinds of games but I really enjoyed the leveling system coupled with the equipment mechanics. There's just something so satisfying at chucking a handful of dice and completely blasting away a horde of zombies

I was a bit worried that controlling 3 survivors each would bog the game down but it actually ended up playing rather well.

2 player recommendation?

Talk about a brain burner! something about this game just turns me into mush. the goal of the game is simple enough but maximizing your every move with what I feel are very limited resources is quite a challenge.

The smaller 2 player board makes the game feel very tight at low player counts.

Although Jess and I enjoy this game once it gets going, there's a certain level of dread I feel everytime I set it up.
