I have played this game before with my buddies and have enjoyed it. This time I played with my brother-in-law and in-laws, I did not enjoy it. It just went too slow for my tastes and after a while I got annoyed with explaining the rules constantly. I know that is on me but it still made for a boring experience. My hope is that this does not ruin the game for me but with Rising Sun arriving in the next month I'm not sure when I will play this again.
Received this from my parents for a Christmas gift. Played this twice for the first time with 3 of my buddies. Coming off Inis expectation were high, and I must say this game does not disappoint. You have to be essentially two steps ahead of your opponents, which can be tricky. The action mechanic was awesome as well, one of the best of the games I have played.
I was able to sneak a win out of our first game and my buddy was able to steal a win by doing the Zeus-Pegasus cycle trick (which we did not know was a thing until then).
The game is a solid 8 in my book, some rules could be a little more clear as I found I had to look them up on the forums a few times during gameplay.
Quick game with the wife and my parents. This game is simple and fun. Nothing amazing like Paperback but it works. I do have a rule question: when someone writes a word and flips the timer do we have 30 seconds (and how would we count that) or only the amount of time left on the flipped side of the timer?
After enjoying the base game so much I instantly bought the expansion. My buddies and I played about three games with it at the 4 and 3 player level. We really enjoyed it. I don't think I will ever take out the Hades module again, it adds too much to the game and can be very powerful in the right hands. I'm not crazy about the Heroes as most of the time my group avoided using them. The gifts were fun and add some cool elements but I could play without them. Finally, the blessing tiles were really cool - if not a little overpowered.
My biggest complaint is that playing with all the modules made the game too finicky with lots of moving parts for me to remember. This is a solid expansion and a big improvement on the base game.
Bought this after my group became disgusted with Pandemic Legacy s2. We needed a light-fun game after getting our faces rubbed in our defeats. Let me just say that this game is amazing. I know we are are still only 25% done the game but it has been an awesome experience so far. I have already bought the recharge pack because I want to play through this game with a larger player number (currently we are playing with 3). I love how the Charter expands and grows as the game continues - visually it looks great. The gameplay is very friendly and makes for a fun experience.
My one complaint would be that I wish the rules were printed in the rulebook and not on the stickers. There have been a few times we needed to check online for rule clarifications.
