First meetup of the new year, held in Replay game shop as the hall was being cleared. A combination of dwindling player numbers and several adverse incidents with the Hall mean that we will be meeting in the shop”s playing space for a while.

5 players were in attendance, unfortunately due to cold weather outside and doors being opened as stuff was transferred from the Marquis hall the conditions were extremely chilly, bordering on intolerable. Hopefully this will not be a permanent feature of future gaming sessions. I might well pack a blow heater along with my games in the winter months.

I got this from Santa and it proved to be an unexpected hit with my family over the festive period.

It felt less of a success with the gaming fraternity, but for a quick ‘roll and write’ filler I think it hits the spot.

Graphically it is bright but it can be a little difficult to see the extra stuff that you have circled. It is also difficult to undo things if you make a mistake or change your mind. I might try laminating a few sheets and using dry erase markers, to see if that helps.

Game 1 of this new legacy game is a bit of an intro game I think. We spent nearly as long on the rules as we did playing the game

I enjoyed the way it introduced things and peeling the rules off the cards and int the rule book is novel. Made a mess of one of the stickers - those are very sticky things and they don’t peel off well - sorry Godfrey!

I like the use of the influence? Hexes/cubes to limit how much you can do in a game, as once they have run out you are somewhat restricted in what you can do.

Micah won our first outing, look forward to exploring this further.

Colin left earlier than usual (probably to get warmed up a bit) so we broke out this newly acquired area control/ set collection game.

Some turns you don’t have much to do, just drawing a card off the deck, other turns you can play a long combo.

Basically a card game with a board so there is a fair bit of luck involved. Likely to be quite replayable due to the number of races included in the box I found it to be pretty enjoyable overall. The area control aspect was less significant than seemed apparent at first.

Tim won by playing a large band of halflings in the third and final round.

A train game! This time an easy to teach, short playtime share and line building experience.

Cool selection mechanism and turn order board makes for some interesting decisions. It is a very tight little game, I’ve played it twice now and scoring is low (9 & 10 have won) and little alliances emerge between players.

Look forward to playing this more as everyone seemed to enjoy it. A HIT!
