Hello again. I have made it a point to get through my "wall of shame" of unplayed games, which currently sits at 94 games and 123 expansions. I have done this in 2016 (found here) and in 2017 (found here). At my current rate, I should have all of my games played by late 2019 or early 2020. I will list each game played by date with my initial rating as well as a short summary. I am hoping more people will see this and try to do the same. Enjoy!

A set of 6 promo cards for Nations, clearly "inspired" by other games. We had 3 of the 6 cards come out in our game. They were the Julius Agricola advisor (+5 Military if you pass first), the Solar Eclipse event card which determines player order by whomever passes first and the Imperium Rex event which ends the game after it resolves (it is a Era 3 card).

Sort of fun and I just added them to the piles for the game. The Imperium card seems strange as you are missing out on all of Era 4. Other than that, simple cards to add. Note that the backs are slightly different in color, so you might be able to see them coming out.

Another promo card for Nations. I picked Tesla up and used him for Rounds 7 and 8 (he is an Age IV advisor). Tesla lets you, as an action, pay 2 coins to roll a die and add that to your military for the round. This can be done multiple times. I had already had a great coin engine going, so getting him was a no-brainer. There obviously is risk involved as you could roll 3 1's in a row. Tesla actually helped me in both round I used him as the Event cards were particularly nasty against the lowest Military. So, he's good, but not great. As with the other Nations promo cards, I will just throw them into their respective decks and see if they appear.

A very interesting (or as the box says, clever) deck building/area control game. This is essentially a race to appease as many Gods (your starting cards) as chosen first. We played 3 player, first to 5 gods. Gods are appeased by mostly area control variables on the board that is built by the players. Move your 2 heroes to new areas, draw some random enemies to fight, play cards to hopefully beat them. Then, use leftover hand cards to buy more units. There is some crunch to the game with the terrain modifiers, as all creatures get a bonus to attack if they are fighting in or came from their main terrain. Or, they can't even fight if the terrain is their opposing terrain.

We had fun with this and I think I will hold onto it for a while. It has a solo mode built in, which raises it a point or so as well. This can be found dirt cheap at most online retailers, so give it a shot. Just know this, the components are junk. I mean, they are bad. This is an ugly game looking at the board. The card art is rather nice, however.

A 4x lite game based around the Polynesian islands. This was much more fun than we had anticipated. I enjoyed the push your luck exploration phase of the game quite a bit. Yes, you can get hosed over by not drawing good island groups. But if that happens, you know you need to do more attacking!

Speaking of attacking, the combat system is rather brutal. Make sure to roll high. Culture cards can be drawn for extra VP's and cool effects in combat or in exploration.

So yes, I enjoyed this quite a bit. I was expecting a heavier game (it is GMT after all) and ended up with a fairly easy to teach and learn game with some teeth. I will be keeping this for a while.

3 boardgame related promo cards for CV. I like CV. It's a light, Yahtzee style rolling game with some fun choices. These cards add some neat things to the mix. Here's what's included:

Boardgame Designer (CV card) - He looks a lot like Reiner Knizia! He gives you 1 happiness, a light bulb and a people token each round. No money though. I guess designers don't make much $$$ .

Boardgame Collection (Property Card) - Costs 3 money symbols. Is worth 1 VP and gives a person token each round (until this is covered).

Trip to Essen (Event Card) - Costs 3 money symbols. 1 time gives 2 happiness. Great way to acquire that awesome VP card late in the game.

Good cards. These have been shuffled into the decks.

I played a solitaire run through of this expansion with 2 Investigators. Hastur destroyed us 1 turn after he appeared. I had a chance to solve the 2nd Mystery and win the game right before he came out but screwed up a check to close a Gate. Here's what I liked:

- The new Investigators all had really nice special abilities.
- The Unique Asset deck saw a lot of play. Lots of really good stuff in there.
- New horrible conditions along with new versions of some classics (Debt, etc.)
- More Prelude cards! I like the Preludes as they mix up each game just a little bit.

My only negative to the game would be the increased difficulty of Hastur. That's not really a knock (you want co-op games to be difficult) but it was sort of a drag knowing I was going to die as soon as he came out.

I will run through this again against one of the base game Old Ones with all of the cards and see if the outcome changes.

EDIT: 2/2/18 played again, this time against Cthulhu. And got beat again. Much closer to victory though. The Blight conditions really got me in this game.

Wow! What a great expansion! This would have to be my 2nd favorite of the small box EH expansions, right behind Forsaken Lore. So much good stuff to like here:

- I really liked the new Investigators. One of them lets you set aside Service assets (there are a bunch of new ones in this set) and then later, each investigator can take one, not using an Action. Very handy.

- Disaster and Devastation!!! The new Old One makes you draw Disaster cards and certain points. These can lead to cities being destroyed! If you go to a destroyed city, you draw from the new Devastation encounter deck. I was able to push back Doom 3 times with successful test results from these cards.

Great content abounds in this expansion. As long as FFG keeps pumping out expansions (small ones only!) for EH, I'm all over them. Highly recommended.

An absolutely silly game, but also FUN!!! Players start with a certain number of dice (normal D6's, but with an X instead of a 1) and on your turn you throw one into a bowl. You are trying to hit other dice and get multiple dice to show the same #. You then get to take all of the dice that show the same numbers. If you don't make a match, you have the option to throw another die. If you throw an X, or your die bounces out of the bowl, it is removed from the game. Last one left with dice wins!

We played this twice (4 player) and had a wonderful time. This was an impulse buy from German Amazon after I saw the Gamenight video where they played. If you like silly dexterity games, give it a shot. Next stop for this game, CrusieCon 2018!!!!

Our "main" new game of our Friday game-a-thon. We played a 4 player game and I pulled out a close one, 39-35-27-18. I liked this quite a bit. The auction system can be punishing as you do have to discard your gem if you and another player match. However, you do get gems back if you get through the whole auction phase without winning a card. Or you can pass and get even more gems.

I also enjoyed how there seemed to be several different strategies that could yield success. I went for the sets of 3 symbols and completely ignored matching the big circles on the cards. Brian went for matching circles. Brett went for cards that gave VP chips. Michael went for a Law heavy strategy. All of these seemed valid.

I will be keeping this one as I can see teaching this to new people fairly easily. And, solitaire mode.

Brett brought over 2 games for our Friday session. The first one we played was NMBR 9. This is a super easy tile stacking game with some tough choices. Knowing when to decide to build onto the 2nd level and above seems to be key here. I waited a little too long and was in last place. Aaron won a close one over Brett.

I can see myself playing this again soon. I guess you could even run through it solitaire and go for a high score. Cool little game.

The 2nd game Brett brought over for Friday. This is an interesting take on the roll and write game. In this one, start player rolls all of the dice (9 dice in our 4 player game) and each player drafts one each turn. There are 3 different colored dice matching the 3 vegetables in the game. When you take the die, you add the vegetable to your grid matching the column of the die roll. All other vegetables after the first have to be orthogonally adjacent to each other.

Points are scored by filling rows on your grid, having the most of each kind of veggie at game's end and by completed pig feeding rows.

Your pig is fed when you take a die that you can't put on your board. You cross of circles equal to the pips on the die. 7 circles to a row. You score points based on how many rows you complete. Also, you get 1 time special abilities (+ or -1 on a die or change a die color) for each row you finish.

This was fun. I have a soft spot for roll and write games and this one gave some very interesting choices. I would play this one anytime anywhere.

EDIT: corrected game entry. Thanks, Aaron!

This mini exp adds quite a bit to the game. The 2 new tiles are great. One is mostly 1 large land mass, great for the "big" islands. And the other has 4 small island pieces. The extra Discovery tokens are really nice as well. One lets you avoid the pirates once during the game and another acts as a wild Production token for end of game scoring. This would be my favorite of the 3 mini expansions for Amerigo.

The 3rd and final mini exp. for Amerigo. This adds special bigger neutral island tiles. They al cost 5 or 6 AP to acquire. When you are able to build one, you take a Production token for the good of your choice. They also give big VP (10 or 15 for small or big islands). This is my least favorite of the mini expansions as I feel the payoff for all of the actions spent getting and building the tiles really isn't worth it. Our strategy usually revolves around completing a bunch of small islands anyways and these giant pieces wouldn't fit.

Brian came over on the 5th and we played a tight 2 player game of Food Chain Magnate. These 2 accessories made the game go much quicker. The dry erase boards let you mark down which Milestones you and the other players have. I didn't even break out the Milestone cards. The accordion holder keeps all of the employee cards in the box in their correct order in terms of training. Bringing FCM on CrusieCon leaving in 2 days, can't wait to show off this wonderful game to some new people!

My first new game (of 3) on CrusieCon 2018. I have regular Sushi Go but after playing this, I will definitely get rid of the normal version and get a copy of Party for myself. We played an 8 player game. Essentially, this is Sushi Go but with many more options for the cards that you play with from game to game. We used all different cards from the base game. The game also comes with a nice scoreboard and placeholders showing the selected cards for each game. This really is a must have for me. Highly recommend this one.

Also, there is a scoring tile each round that has 2 options that 1 player (the one with the Blue 5) gets to pick. Scores were fairly low with Darryn pulling it out in the last hand. I have wonderful neighbors who love trick taking games and I think this would be right up their alley. So, another must get for me.

Our last game played of CrusieCon 2018 was a 2 player hand building game with quite the interesting theme. You are trying to influence the rabbits in the court to your side by playing cards that match the symbols on the rabbits. If you do Influence them, you get a card from their pile. you can also take a Counsel action of a neutral rabbit or one on your side. These are all sorts of chaotic actions. Or, you can play a card for its Plot action, which does even more chaos.

There is quite a bit of take that card play in this, but not enough for me to dislike the game. It is an intriguing design that works. There is a feel of a tug of war as you are trying to get them to your side for points at the end of the game. BTW, Flo won the game 34-32. I might have to pick this up just so I can play her again and beat her at it

I forgot about the one game on CrusieCon that I own that was new to me! This is a super easy to teach and easy to play race game that has 2 cool things going for it. One, the board is like a page from a pop-up book. I mean, it is really neat. Secondly, the main mechanism of the game (how you move your mouse) is done by picking cards from other players hands trying not to find a "trap" card. So, push your luck.

Also, when you are done drawing cards for your turn (whether you busted or not), you can redistribute the cards you drew plus the cards from your hand to any of the other players. The idea, obviously, is to give good cards to everyone else and keep the crap cards yourself so the other players pick them.

This was surprisingly fun. I won both games played on the cruise, but they were close! I will keep this around for a while to teach younger gamers or some that just like lighter games. Or, it could work for a closing game of the evening after a fairly heavy game. Recommend!

I really enjoyed the tactical aspects to this. Command Points give some nice strategic elements as well. When to use them? We found using them for Overwatch or retaliation attacks were usually the best move. Played on the castle map with the "good" guys winning having 2 heroes left. The minis for this are quite nicely done. The art on the board is beautiful as well. And the pathfinding system is pure genius.

I played with the Revised Rules and they seemed to even out some of the balance issues the game had previously. I have read the first edition rules and they were a little wonky.

My only negative with the game (and it's a big one) is the equipment tokens. Every character has 4 for the game and you basically need either a cribsheet telling you what they do or have an amazing memory. The Equipment cards FFG made to combat this are sadly OOP and incredibly expensive so I don't think I will be getting those. I am pretty sure the expansion minis have cards with the equipment powers on them, which will make the game SOOOOO much easier. I had to pull the pages of the rulebook out that listed the equipment for each team. If it wasn't for this, I would rate this closer to an 8.50 or maybe even higher.

Yula is the first character expansion I have played for Tannhauser. She works for the evil Reich (so, the side I always play) and has some really cool special abilities.

Her unique item is a set of claws. A 5 dice melee weapon that, if you roll a Natural 10, breaks a weapon or hardware token of your target. Nice! She also has a supplemental token for this weapon that lets her spend a Command point to attack with it again.

My only negative to Yula is that her Combat skill seems a little low for someone who wants to melee. It's nice to have so much variety when making the teams now.

Wasn't as big of a fan of the Gorgei mini pack. First off, he doesn't come with the cards for his equipment. That stinks. I had to open his rule book and tuck it under his character sheet to have a reference. Also, his stats aren't the best of some of the other characters I have played.

On the plus side, he does have a bad ass weapon. His submachine gun rolls 5 dice and he can add 1 to each die. So, I will be holding onto these character packs for a while to see if there is any increase in value. And until I do decide to sell them, they will get played.

My favorite of the 4 single mini character packs I have played! Wolf is another Mercenary, so he can be recruited by either side. His special item allows him to increase 2 of his stats by one, a stat by 1 and take a skill or take 2 skills. I am only playing Deathmatch right now, so stats it was.

He also has a risky item that lets him reroll all of his dice for any roll, but he has to keep the new roll.

Fun stuff all around. I will be doing the character specific missions at some point and I think Wolf's mission might be a blast!

Ramirez is a neat character because of his special item. He can remotely control a bot (that has its own mini and stats) that can move around and shoot people.

The bot moves after each characters activation by one space. It ignores terrain modifiers. His weapon is an Automatic, so 5 dice. He is a little squishy though, as he can only take 2 hits before being destroyed. The Ramirez player can shoot with the bot as long as Ramirez doesn't take a Combat action. This lead to some interesting aspects in our game as we had to figure out the right order to activate the good guys so bot could get into position to shoot.

Ramirez himself is a mediocre character. He does have a cool gun but it will hardly ever get used if he is attacking with the bot mini. The gun acts as grenade. So, the circle he targets is hit as well as every adjacent circle regardless of path color.

The Union side (at least in my 1st 5 games) seems to be a little weaker. So, any extra firepower is a good thing. And Ramirez brings the heat.

Yeah, I knew I would love this! I have the redone rules here from the BGG files section. They are amazing and really broke down the rules in an easy to understand sequence. I also printed out a 1 page flowchart (also from the Files section) that breaks down the whole turn process. I also watched all of the Megacon guys playthrough videos. So, I would like to think I was as prepared as I was going to be.

I played freefrom questing, 2 tiles total. 1 Quest tile (12X12) and Trap tile. 3 characters, Acolyte, Soldier and Archer. the first few turns were very slow as I had to constantly check the rules. However, everything was easy to find. I really didn't have an issue with any wordings on the cards. How they were used in any given situation made sense. The Acolyte was an exceptional killing machine with his Last Rites card. The Soldier was able to kill 5 minions with 1 attack with his card that attacks everyone in a 90 degree arc up to 180 degrees with Rage added.

My favorite thing about Myth is the fact that the heroes are so incredibly different. You really need to study the cards to know how each turn you will be most effective. Managing Threat is much more important than it seems when you first start playing. I activated the Darkness 4 times early because I was going crazy playing attack cards. As the game went on, I was able to minimize my Threat by only attacking the enemies that were going to attack when they activated. I am really looking forward to running with the other 3 heroes and learning the ins and outs of those decks.

So, this will be going into my Top 100 at a very high number. As I play more, it might get to a 10. I really love this game. I think all of the hate that was piled on it when it came out really was sort of unjustified. Well, except for the shoddy rules. This is an immersive, rewarding experience that I feel will only get better with repeated plays.

More Grubbers for Myth. These guys are super easy to mow down but come at you with big numbers. I had a lair of them and they spawned 4 times (hence why I had to break into the extra minis in this pack). More minions are great!
