Welcome to the 2017 Edition of theMicrobadge of the Year Contest!
This is the final runoff between the 12 winners of Microbadge of the Month for 2017. The designers of the three winning badges receive the following prizes:
• 1st place: + 50% of any tips this list receives. • 2nd place: + 25% of any tips this list receives. • 3rd place: + 25% of any tips this list receives.
Also, please look over this whole list; we've tried to make it useful for all!
Contest fine print
Please remember that soliciting votes for badges is not allowed, either publicly or privately, for any reason. Let the votes fall where they may, honorably!
If a tie exists at the end of the voting period for any of the top three positions, the tiebreaker is the average margin of victory in the monthly ballots. That is, take the total number of winning votes, divide it by the total number of each losing vote, and average those results. Thus if there are four badges and the votes were 4:3:2:1, then the winning badge's average margin of victory is ((4/3) + (4/2) + (4/1)) /3 = 2.44. This is the best solution we found for normalizing the varying number of voters, quantity of badges in contention, etc., in each of the monthly polls.
Any situation against the rules or not identified will be dealt with by the Microbadge of the Year committee (currently cinderbike, indigopotter, wildthayne, edbolme ). The committee's word is final, but they're all quite friendly and won't bite your hand off. At least, not unless provoked. Or very hungry. Or zombified.

The Ultimate Microbadge Election (until next year)!
Please take a minute to look through the microbadges in the poll below (presented in random order), and vote for any or all that you think are deserving of this fine award.
Please base your vote on the microbadge's image and/or mouseover quality (whatever that means to you), not on whether you like the depicted subject, are friends with the designer, or any other such reason.
Soliciting votes for badges, either public or privately, is not allowed. Let votes fall where they may, honorably!
Please thumb this list and, if you can, tip to the list header!
All geekgold goes to the winners of this contest.
Thanks and choose... wisely.
