Cardboard Clash 2018 Goals

We all make goals and resolutions going into the new year. I made a few for myself, using a journal to track them. But what fun is tracking goals if you can't share them with others, and gain some added accountability from the community? So follow along with my goals and let's see if I can accomplish everything I am setting out to do this year!

This is a tough one: a commitment to not buy new games. Crazy, I know. And tough as hell. My wife, bless her heart, has convinced me to allow any expansions to have a pass so that could help. And I can tell you that I'm very, very motivated to hit the two goals that will let me pick up a new game this year.
I will not purchase any new games in 2018, with these two exceptions:
If I get my weight under 200#, I may purchase one new game
When I complete my 10 x 10 for 2018, I may purchase one game.
There are a few other ways new games may enter the household over the course of the year:
Any review games sent to me are acceptable; however, I will not actively approach publishers to request review copies of games.
I may participate in the annual local math trade.
When the time comes back around, I may consider joining in on the Secret Elephant gift exchange but can, like this year, choose to opt out of any Secret Santa-type exchanges.
I may complete the Grey Havens and the Harad cycle in the Lord of the Rings LCG throughout the course of the year without those adventure packs counting as games purchased. These will be my first cycles to expand the game and, since it is my most-played solo game, getting a little more to tinker with this year will be essential to keep it hitting the table.
Print and play games are perfectly acceptable games to add to my collection, so long as they are free apart from the supplies needed to make them.
Birthday and other occasions where someone chooses to gift me a game are fine. If they ask what game(s) I want, I am allowed to provide a list but I will not suggest it unless asked. There are good gifts besides board games that I can receive.
Events for games I own, such as Lord of the Rings LCG or Android: Netrunner, are acceptable to attend even if they require an admission fee to participate. Promotional items from such events are not considered to be new game purchases.
Winning a game in a contest or at a demo day does not count as a purchase.
Thanks to my wife's prompting, expansions will be acceptable purchases because they are not increasing our game collection's size.
Apart from those conditions, I will not purchase a single game in 2018. If there is a game I want to play, I will be forced to find someone local with a copy who is willing to teach the game.

We all have those shame piles. Mine increased a little with a few late review copies and some Christmas gifts. Of the games here, only Mythotopia, Summoner Wars, Frostgrave, and Asgard's Chosen have been lingering for a while. But I need to get this down to 0 this year.
