Available at Wargame Vault.

Though the theme is war, the mechanics are pretty abstract and it doesn't use a lot of space on the table. At least I'll look into this, just to see what it is worth ...

I built Heroes of the Aturi Cluster after being (unsurprisingly) 100% sucked into the X-Wing game universe. For years, I've been interested in the HotAC campaign more than standard play (though the latter is a blast!). Last night I got a shipment of 100 basic full-page shipping labels to try a cheaper option than the Avery sticker sheets I normally use.

I put the generic terrain (ion fields and mine clusters) on black chipboard, and opted to put the Imperial terrain (emplacements and structure components) on black foamcore for added 3D-ness.

It's all done at this point, and looks quite nice when laid out (I ought to take a picture showing it off as such, but forgot!). My middle finger has a nice little callous from the XACTO knife at this point, and well-deserved... I'm not very accustomed to cutting foamcore, and likely did so the hard way in this project.

Some of the labels are a little peely, but reapplying pressure to them overnight has quelled any fears of them coming unstuck. I admit, they're cheap, and this was partly an experiment to see how they fare. All of PnP is a work in progress, in that regard. Still, great success!

+ solo cowboy expansion.

I like solo tile laying games, so this seemed like a good purchase (small fee for the PnP files).

The main game (which is 2 player) is 18 cards, the solo adds 6 AI cards. I think the designers did a good job with the objectives and flavor text. For example, the Cattle Drive AI/goal set uses the happy cows and prairie life bonus cards, or Out-Drink the Competition uses bootleggers and one-too-many. Only played a couple times so far - it is a quick portable game.

Making the 1.4 update version by matching the old cards (which were printed straight to card stock) and then stuck in sleeves.

The Dragon Matte sleeves worked well. Why Matte? Since this is a game you hold in your hand, the texture give a better grip (alas, it's only one side that has the texture). We'll see how it handles after a few more plays...

And FYI- the latest info says coming to Kickstarter on Feb 27...

He's added what he calls "Feats" to the game. Cards that you can earn through play.

This one is a work in progress at the moment. I am pimping this out as a gift for a friend, otherwise I would probably take it to office depot for them to print out the pdf. But I am trying game crafter for the cards and some of the bits. So far I took advantage of a online photo company to get the character sheets done as 4x6 photos, and a much larger one for the board. I am rethinking that as it makes the box really really large to fit the rolled up board in there and I may look around for companies that print on cloth to make it like an old-timey cloth map or whatever, and would also make for a significantly smaller box (like 75%) but I'm not sure yet.

I am also working on developing an all original game for my brother as a gift as well.

Been awhile I finished crafting a game.

This is my third game on the Russian Revolutiom

This game, set on the last stage: the Bolshevik coup d'état, October/November 1917. It is a simple build.

The file for the cards contains the backs (could have been provided once) but I did not print those, as they are not really required.

- 10 pages for the rule book (perhaps an older version)
- 2 pages for the Petrograd game board
- 1 page for the Winter Palace game board
- 7 pages for the cards
- 1 page for the counters

The designer posted a link to the near-final PnP on the Print & Play facebook group. The game is due to launch on Kickstarter in mid February. The PnP is downloadable from the designer's company's website, by submitting a $0 order to get the download link, and the rules are directly downloadable on the website.

This game has players constructing a 3D sword as the actual gameplay, with points scored for most valuable gems-inlaid-in-sword-parts, most runs of the same coloured gem, and largest sword (at least, that's my quick summary from my skimming of the rules).

The construction requires printing/mounting onto - ideally - heavy cardstock or punchboard-thickness card, as the parts of the sword need to slot together. Quite a lot of pages to print (and most are full-colour), but this does look like a fascinating concept of a game.

Sample image from the above facebook post:

One page to print, needs 3 dice. I found it a bit bland, although a potentially exciting "breakout" was avoided right on the last turn. I scored 41 points.

Space Scavenger

Its not "unpublished", I just couldnt find it on the BGG database. It was an entry for the GenCant contest last year.

You can find it here - http://www.metalsnail.net/2017/06/01/space-scavenger-monthly...

It's another single page, roll and write game. You've got to build your ship at the same time as getting back home or something. Played a couple of times and it's quite fun.

A simple, but still fun, roll and move game with a rock-paper-scissors mechanic.
Originally a card game, but with my penchant for small, portable, quick games, that have a small play footprint, and aren't bothered by getting wet or dirty, or a breeze wafting by. In short "backpacking games".
I decided to do a de-themed prototype of this one.

Here it is in play on the Seattle waterfront.

I had found a bag of 1" plastic tiles (in 4 colors) at the thrift store. I cut some into a Shogi tile shape (love that shape). I left the green ones square because they change value by rotating.
The "path" is made from some rounds I cut from a mop handle that was being thrown away. The "goal" tiles at each end of the path, are from a fatter mop handle (also being thrown out).

It all fits into this draw bag, made from the sleeve of an old shirt (also used for setting up the game).

The dice also came from a thrift store find. The color indicate which tiles they can move. But the dice in this game aren't standard d6, they are instead numbered 1,1,1,2,2,3 so I got some enamel model paint and filled in some of the pips.

Another game I crafted using the 1" square plastic tiles I found at the thrift store. I just used an opaque (metallic ink) sharpie to draw on the tile patterns. A some glass drops I had from a previous thrift store find.

This photo was taken at Kobe Park in Seattle's International Dist.

The game packs down into two Altoid tins.

The group enjoys games of TTR USA and Europe from time to time, and I thought this would be a pleasant variation to try. I used DrawPLus X8 to lay-out the large map sheet image as an A1 ‘drawing’, and sub-divided that for printing onto four A3 sheets of 160gsm ink-jet card, incorporating three laps to be glued to make a folding ‘board’ for use with a 3mm clear acrylic sheet overlay: hex & counter wargame map-sheet style.

I do not have my own copy of the original game, and as I would like to have the variant self-sufficient in components, I have made my own sets of train ‘counters’, score markers and stations printedonto 106gsm inkjet card and glued double-sided to 2mm greyboard.

The English-language map-sheet is at a superior resolution to the Russian original, but I printed the rolling-stock cards from the original Russian files as these are at the better resolution than the English ones and the latter depart strangely from the rules as printed (for example: how do you use the ‘Miss A Turn’ loco card?).

I used the original Russian ticket file, retaining the cyrillic text on the cards but using ‘snapshots’ from the English-language map PDF to identify the destination names. This may sound a lot more faff than it is in practice.

As usual, I printed the (numerous) cards double-sided onto 160 gsm inkjet card, hot-laminated the sheets and rounded the corners of the finished cards with my 5mm clipper.

Cardboard trains, points markers and typical station (at Alma Ata).

I fell in love with Yeomen: The 9 Card Agincourt Game and this one is in a similar vein except it's another iconic battle - this time Thermopylae.

Here's the set up.

And the risible endpoint.

I ran out of supplies marginally before running out of infantry with hardly a scratch on Leonidas and the Spartans.

At just 9 cards, it's a simple build, although I couldn't resist making some card backs as well - although I decided to make them separate and put both halves in sleeves, so I can replace updated card-fronts without reprinting the backs as the design progresses.

Saw this on another list, and since Mars seems to be a "thing," I went and got it.

I had a helper when I set it up to play:

Cards were printed straight to card stock. I might sleeve them just to keep them more identifiable. There were no backs provided- or I missed them...

My case of "bits" is there to the left. Only a few bits needed for the game, 5 cubes and 1 d6.

Lost the first game I played.

Last year I printed-off two copies of this, one to make as a Christmas gift for a fellow gamer, and one for me. I have only just got around to making up my own copy.

The counters are printed onto 160gsm inkjet card and glued to 2mm greyboard.
I applied a decorative backing to the counter sheet on this occasion, as I could not be bothered to reverse the image layout for double-siding. For the gifted copy, I made a folding A3-ish board, but for my own I printed the image onto inkjet paper for use with an acrylic sheet overlay.

I edited the card-back design to economise on ink, printed the sheets duplex, hot-laminating them as usual.
