CREW TALENTS____________________________________________

Captain's Chair (Commanding Officer): Captain Yeenfera Vlon
Parent Figure: When attempting or assisting a Task, and two or more other characters are involved in the Task, the first Complication generated on the Task may be ignored.
Cultural Flexibility: When you attempt a Task to learn about an unfamiliar culture, or to act in an appropriate manner when interacting with members of such a culture, you reduce the Difficulty by 1.
Advisor- Whenever you assist another character using the Command Discipline, the character being assisted may re-roll one d20.
Veteran: Whenever the character spends a point of Determination, roll 1 Challenge Die. If an Effect is rolled, immediately regain that spent point of Determination.
Commanding Officer: The commanding officer may spend a point of Determination to grant any other character they can communicate with one point of Determination; this does not have to be linked to a Value.

Second-in-Command (Executive Officer): Commander Koraak
Nerve Pinch: The nerve pinch counts as a melee weapon with 1 , Size 1H, and the Intense and Non-lethal qualities. You may use Science or Medicine instead of Security when attempting a nerve pinch Attack, and may increase damage by your Science or Medicine Discipline instead of Security.
Defuse the Tension: Whenever you attempt a Task to persuade someone not to resort to violence, you may add a bonus d20 to your dice pool.
Computer Expertise: Whenever you attempt a Task that involves the programming or study of a computer system, you may add a bonus d20 to your pool.
Advisor: Whenever you assist another character using the Command Discipline, the character being assisted may re-roll one d20.
Executive Officer: When another character in communication with the executive officer spends a point of Determination, the executive officer may spend 3 Momentum (Immediate) to let that character regain the spent point of Determination.

Operations (Internal Systems, Comm, Sensors): Lt. Commander Karowan Jynka
Spirit of Discovery: You may spend one Determination to add three points to the group Momentum pool.
Jury-rig: Whenever you attempt an Engineering Task to perform repairs, you may reduce the Difficulty by two, to a minimum of 0. If you do this, however, then the repairs are only temporary and will last only a single scene, plus one additional scene per Momentum spent (Repeatable) before they fail again. Jury-rigged repairs can only be applied once, and the Difficulty to repair a device that has been Jury-rigged increases by 1.
In the Nick of Time: Whenever you succeed at an Engineering or Science Task as part of an Extended Task, you score 1 additional Work for every Effect rolled.
Technical Expertise: Whenever you attempt a Task assisted by the ship’s Computers or Sensors, you may re-roll one d20 (which may be the ship’s die).
Operations Manager: When the operations manager succeeds at a Task assisted by the ship’s Computers or Sensors, or using a tricorder, the character generates one bonus Momentum, which may only be used on the Obtain Information Momentum Spend.

Engineering (Engines, Propulsion, Fabrication): Lt. Commander Trar jav Pravom

In the Nick of Time: 1 extra Work scored per "Effect" rolled on Extended Tasks related to Engineering/Science.
Chief Engineer: When aboard the ship, always has the Advantage “Engineering Department”, the ship’s complement of engineers and technicians.

Tactical (Tactical Systems, Security Oversight): Lieutenant Ratan Kovim
Orb Experience: You have one additional Value, reflecting the insights you received from the experience. The first time this Value is Challenged, roll 1 Challenge Die; if an Effect is rolled, then some foretold element of the Orb Experience has come to pass, and the Value is not crossed out as it would normally be.
Mean Right Hook: Your Unarmed Strike Attack has the Vicious 1 Damage Effect.
Quick to Action: During the first round of any combat, you and your allies may ignore the normal cost to Retain the Initiative.
Close Protection: When you make a successful Attack, you may spend one Momentum to protect a single ally within Close range. The next Attack against that ally before the start of your next turn increases in Difficulty by 1.
Chief of Security: When aboard the ship, the chief of security always has the Advantage “Security Detachment”, which represents the ship’s security personnel.

Conn (Helm, Navigation): Lt. Commander Lidsa Tanan
Former Initiate: When you attempt a Task using Control or Reason, and spend Determination to buy a bonus d20 for that Task, you may re-roll your dice pool.
Bold (Conn): Whenever you attempt a Task with the Conn discipline and you buy one or more d20s by adding to Threat, you may re-roll a single d20

Untapped Potential: Whenever the character succeeds at a Task for which they bought one or more additional dice with either Momentum or Threat, they may roll 1 Challenge Die. The character receives bonus Momentum equal to the roll of the die (1, 2, 0, 0, 1+effect, 1+effect), and adds one point to Threat if an Effect is rolled.
Medical Officer: When aboard the ship, always has the Advantage “Medical Department”, the ship’s medical personnel.

BackgroundYeenfera was born and raised on the Denobulan homeworld of Denobula, where she developed a keen sense of parental oversight and mentoring for her two husbands and three children. As she aged she became confident that the wisdom associated with adult experience is an important guide for the young and should be shared. Yeenfera's family was heavily involved in Denobulan politics, and Yeenfera herself helped manage election campaigns and got involved in diplomatic relations, mostly dinners and social outings. Still, these were formative experiences that taught her much about diplomacy and how to engage with all sorts of people.

After her first child was grown Yeenfera moved to earth with two of her husbands to attend Starfleet Academy, where she focused on disaster relief and recovery. Her interest in logistics and disaster management suggest a command track, and Yeenfera found herself taking to the role quite naturally.

As a Lieutenant Yeenfera developed a new way of using transporters to facilitate the delivery of relief supplies, creating a dynamic coordinate algorithm that allowed loading of shuttle craft while moving. Later, she was central to first contact with a species on the cusp of warp capability that nearly suffered a cataclysm in their home system. Lt. Commander Yeenfera was central to the first contact and to averting the catastrophe. She was promoted to Captain and given her own ship as a result.

Like most Vulcans Koraak has a deep and rich history in Science and Medicine, and has chosen to go into Star-fleet command. His father told him that the "Most logical career for you would be as a commander of your own Star ship". During his first year out of the academy he was part of a First contact away mission. This had a great influence on Koraak and he feels that Seeking new life and new Civilizations as the mission of Star-fleet is of the utmost importance. Because of his diligence and experience he was chosen again to go on a mission that established first contact in the Gamma Quadrant just after the discovery of the worm hole at Deep Space 9.

BackGround: Trar was raised a good home. His parents argued every night over mundane things, and occasionally something important like where he could study in academic fields where their experience lacked. This training of a young mind in the finer points of humility and assuredness taught him respect for disagreement and he took to it well.
He reasoned with the indigenous aquatic pets his parents had found for him, and when his brother and two younger sisters could speak fluently he would arrange trades at the meal table and they would all find some relief from the isolation with a good heated debate and, if the mood was right, a bit of food tossing to "spice it up" as Mum would say.

The inquisitive mind of an alert and intelligent Trar had no chance of boredom. The landscape of Keldim 3 was so rich with opportunity for exploring and creating and scientific study. Trar's parents were, of course, research colonists. Their assignment to Keldim 3 left them isolated, in the way we would think of a large farm in an arid place being isolated. They weren't the sole inhabitants of the planet, but all other intelligent life consisted of remote stations of more research colonists from various places.

Trar's Mother and Father assumed he would follow in their footsteps and it was a natural thought given his affinity to spending time alone and tinkering with all manner of local plant and animal life, but then they soon found that Trar had other skills.

When their polythermal-analyser failed in a crucial moment, or when the hunting apparatus was crushed by a large reptillian beast for the 11th time, they always called on Trar first.. he could fix most things!
And all assortment of things usually came in back in some way improved over the pre-malfunction version.
He was excellent and loved to escape into his room as his got older, and would load data cards from far-off places to learn how a spectral-conveyor worked, or read up on quantum theory and particle manipulation.

But the turning point, which didn't squash his love of flora and fauna as much as slide it into second place, was when a huge starship drifted into orbit and sent an away-team down on a 1 in a million chance the colonists would have spare parts for their crippled life-support system.
As it happened, Trar's father knew what parts were needed and searched through his surivial kit from the time of their first arriving. But the filter components were too deteriorated to be installed. The starship, with only 5 hours of sustainable life-support for it's 570 crew, had begun transferring everyone to the surface.

Enter Trar jav Pravom.
He asked his father about the problem, inspected the desintegrating filters and strode right out into the forest bordering their small settlement and returned with a handleful of bark, leaves, and some old parts from their own transport ship.
When Trar's Dad finally convinced the Vulcan captain that giving Trar a chance was more logical than sitting on their hands wondering if he could fix it, they were able to leave before the next morning.

Trar learnt two things that day.
1. Anything is worth trying if you have the time, and
2. Trusting in logic alone is fine, so long as you've exhausted all opportunity to follow rule #1.

BACKGROUND
At the age of 8, he was smuggled off of Bajor with his mother, but before they could get to federation space, the freighter they were on was attacked. All the adults were beamed away including his mother, leaving only a few children left on the badly damaged ship. A federation patrol found it a few days later adrift , and towed it back to it's home Star base. He was taken in, and adopted by a human female security officer from the patrol ship, and her Trill (unjoined) husband who was a enlisted engineer working at the star base.

He grew up learning from his adopted parents, and enjoyed being around many different species. During his teenage years he covertly tried to figure out what happened the day he was separated from his mother, but the trail went cold quickly. When he was of age, he decided to join Starfleet academy, with the hope of one day helping Bajor join what had become his family.

Growing up surrounded by Starfleet officers helped him greatly at the Academy where he majored in Security, with a minor in Engineering. He had a small group of friends Name Marya, Jim and Raven.

Straight out of the Academy Marya and Ratan were posted together at a new medical research station being constructed near Andor. 6 months after arrival, a poorly installed power conduit exploded destroying her brand new lab. She died instantly. It was a big blow to Ratan, who after counseling for months decided he wanted to leave the station.

After transferring, Ratan became part of a long term security team for a group of archaeologists investigating old Iconion Ruins on a group of different worlds. A year into the assignment Ratam came across a vault. Inside was a box which looked like an item of legend he heard as a child on on Bajor. He opened it, and saw a orange glow. It was an Orb of the prophets. He saw flashes of what happened the day his mother was taken, but the vision stopped after a few minutes as one of the archeologists closed it. The mission went on for another year. As the mission was coming to an end, he got notification he was to report to his new posting aboard an Akita class starship

Background

Lidsa was born on a remote Federation colony that had farming and mining as the main industries. She learned at a young age to treat minor to medium injuries that was common in these industries. She also wanted to explore the stars to help gain the knowledge that would help her to get selected by the Symbiosis Commission.

Career Events

Betrayed Ideals For a Superior - As a young Ensign Lidsa was at the helm of a patrol ship on the edge of Federation space. During there patrol the ship came across a transport under attack by Orion Syndicate ships. The battle would of been an even fight but the Captain was worried about more Orion ships showing up so he pulled back to wait for for help. Lidsa wanted to protest not jumping to fight off the raiders but she was a new Ensign and figured that her Captain knew best. The patrol ship was in communaction range when the ship blew up. She still hears it her sleep and uses it to push her to save more people.

Special Commendation - Lidsa was attached as an aid and pilot to a Diplomatic mission to a small boarder dispute near the Federation and Romulan boarder. While the parties where not in the Federation or allied to the Romulan Star Empire it was believed to be fuel by the Romulans to keep one or both parties out of the Federation, and to be a pain for the Federation in general. During the talks a rebel faction in one of the parties attack. As no side was able to bring more then a small group people and no weapons to the site they were unable to defend them selfs. To get the delegates to leave together was a major task as they where blaming each other. While Lidsa helped with this part it was work of the whole diplomatic mission that got them to agree to not kill each other until after they got out of this mess alive. As everyone made it to the shuttlecraft to escape the battle the shuttlecraft came under fire from heavy weapons. Lidsa loaded everyone in the other two shuttlecraft and told the pilots to get to orbit asap and meet up with the ship. Lidsa piloted the last shuttlecraft solo and lagged behind the other craft to take the heat off them. While the weapons being used were not great they still had the power to take down one or two shuttles. Lidsa ducked and weaved and bobbed but kept behind the first two shuttles to give them cover but her ship was heavily damaged. Just as her ship was about to blow up she made it past what ever the rebels were using to block transports and a alert transporter tech transported her out.

BACKGROUND: The busiest settlement on an agricultural colony. Pretty much an oxymoron of sorts. However it did give me a chance to grow into my telepathy without being overwhelmed. Wound up helping my parents a lot with their veterinary business. The number of diseases out there out there is disturbing. As was how often folks would lie about their own role in neglecting their livestock.

Having to help diagnose both native and non-native animals (not to mention the occasional recalcitrant owner)helped refine my ability to quickly see what was wrong, no matter how the internal bits were arranged. The Academy pushed this ability even further.

James enjoyed his time at the Academy, learning from some of the finest minds in the galaxy. Unfortunately he's bought into the ideals of Star Fleet a little to much. Despite his general cynicism towards civilians, he truly believes that Star Fleet personnel are there to do their best for the citizens that they protect.

Event: Learns Unique Language (Negotiations)
Event: Discovers an Artefact (Reverse Engineering)
