This list is intended to discuss possible new games for the gaming website http://www.yucata.de.

Für eine deutsche Übersetzung dieses Headers schaut bitte im Yucata Forum unter http://www.yucata.de/de/Forum?ForumID=3&postid=118755#118755

So far, we tracked the proposals through a global list: Proposed yucata.de games
But after 10 years, the list is getting too cluttered and there are some items with hundreds of thumbs where new entries don't stand a chance to catch up.

This is why we are now creating a new list every year or so.

If you think YES - I WANT THIS GAME AT YUCATA.DE then give thumbs up to that entry. If the game is missing on the list, you may add it.

When adding a game, please write a short comment why you would want the game at Yucata and why it would be a good fit. Think about which games you really want to see at Yucata and don't mindlessly add lots of games. Game additions which do not follow that request might be deleted without further discussion.

Criteria for games at yucata.de

* No direct player interaction. Trading is usually bad for an async site. Veto cards are usually bad, since after each action of each player, each other player needs to be asked if he wants to say 'veto'.

* Not too many microactions/phases. This is no fun to play as PBW. At least not for most people.

* No memory effect. Remembering who has taken what, and so on. This does not really work in PBW. On Yucata we always assume a perfect memory and show all information which has been shown once. This is why Stratego would not be a good option for Yucata.

* No cooperative games

* Translates well to 2 dimensions. Games which have a 3D element to the gameplay don't tend to do well at Yucata. This is why Santorini has been rejected.

* Two-player games. The vast majority of games played at yucata.de are two-player-games, so all entries should play reasonably well with two. We have very few games without 2-player option. So, don't add them. If a developer is bent on implementing a 3+ game, he can choose it himself without referring to this list.

We prefer themed Eurogames. This does not mean that we will never add new abstract board games but they are not at the top of our list.

Note: These are our current criteria for new implementations and games that don't meet them will be deleted. (Some of our existing games helped shape the criteria so don't use them as a guide).

Licenses
For each game we need to get a license to host it online. Some publishers are very open to the idea, some publishers won't allow it at all and many other publishers are deciding on a case-by-case basis. Some publishers who worked a lot with yucata.de in the past, have now founded their own digital division and try to earn money with apps.

Here's an indication.
Publishers very open towards implementations on yucata.de (not complete): AEG, Alea, Hall Games, Histogame, Hans-im-Glück, Kosmos, PD-Spiele, Schmidt-Spiele, Spielworxx, White Goblin Games
Dear publisher: If your company should be on this list, let me know!

Publishers who so far didn't grant licenses: Adlung-Spiele, Cwali, Days of Wonder, Iello, Hasbro, Ravensburger, Schwerkraft
Publishers we are not working with: Queen Games, all games by Reiner Knizia, Eggert Spiele / Plan B Games

I love this because it is a very unique little abstract wargame for 2 players which one can finish in 10 minutes, very simple rules but has great depth, similar to King of Siam genre-wise. Only 10 turns! And many people don't know this game, more's the pity! By a small publisher in Spain.

IMHO this one deserves much higher ranking. At first it seems very complex and it takes a couple of plays to connect all the dots but it has many possible ways to victory and lots of different choices. Not many out of turn actions so it could work well on Yucata.

Plays best with 2 and 3.

Turns are rather short, but can require some thought.

There are not very many out-of turn actions (mostly only when attacking other players and if they have defense cards, which could probably also be automated to a certain extent).

Highly replayable game with worker placement, resource management, variable player powers. It's hard for me to say no to playing this game when someone suggests it. For yucata: minimal direct player interaction (I don't recall any), and works well with two.

A neat little tile-drafting game, where you build your family tree... 18 turns, no out-of-turn actions (actions are actually simultaneous, when you play "live").

Not a lot of votes on the # of players poll... It lists as playing with 2, although, like most drafting games, it's not likely to be its best with only 2.

Excellent and fairly quick game for 2-4 players. Each player plays their turn in order with no turn interruptions.

This is an abstract game hiding behind the potion theme and also has variable player powers from cards you have.

It should be a very good fit for yucata.

Not even released yet, but a perfect fit for Yucata. It’s a really cool, tense, 2-part turn (move & place) abstract with competing offensive and defensive demands derived from the triangular number series scoring system. Short and sweet (18 turns per player) that’s mildly brain burny and fun!

Some interactions feel like in Port Royale. Although all players have to choose what cards to keep during sand storm phase, but it feels like a fairly short game to deal with that maybe.

I'm not positive that this one would work here, but I think it would. It is a fun game on tabletop, I wondered if it would fit here.

So, in AuZtralia you are a some armies in the 1920s fighting Cthulhu in Australia. You start at a port on the coast with some resources. There are a large number of flipped tokens (with various monsters) and resources on the map. Each player needs to build rail lines into the hinterlands, gather resources, build an army, protect his port (and later farms) and fight the various monsters.

This is a "worker" placement game, where you place out your cubes on actions. The first time is "free" whereas any other time costs one gold per previous cube that it there. This could be mining, laying track, purchasing units, taking a leader, etc.

The ingenious piece of the game is the time track. You are fighting Cthulhu (loosely), so each action costs a different amount of "time". Once Cthulhu is awoken, the baddies will get an action every second time. These can wake up flipped monsters and/or move face up monsters.

Rail lines are your key for fighting. Various types of units can fight on, adjacent to, two or four spaces away from your rail lines For battle there is a slight paper-rock-scissors aspect depending on what type of you have picked. Some monsters are better at flying, others are fast or slow. Some are very strong. You need a decent force to stop some.

Combat is done by card turn over a card. Cross index your troop types with the monster and see who hits who. Hits are placed on your units (purple, Cthulhu cubes) and on the monster (your color). After each card you decide whether to continue on or stop. If any unit/monster takes hits equal to their strength they are removed. Removed units go to the pool to be bought again. (There is a limited amount.) Killed monsters go in the players "dead pool". If the kill is split by two or more players they divide the VPs and take them.

Another way to lose a battle is to draw 3 or 4 "insane" tokens in a battle. (There are these icons on the battle cards, next to some of the monsters.) If this happens, you lose your whole force and the battle is over. This is bad. Never do it. Always, stop early. You have been warned.

Leaders add all kinds of cheats or helps or whatever. They are usually very good to get.

The only negative would be possibly turning over a bunch of combat cards in a row. Temples can't affect airships (except for the "insane" tokens). Airships rarely do damage to a temple. So, it becomes a race to see which happens first. This can turn over 20+ battle cards.

As, I said I THINK this would be a good game for Yucata. There are two maps and there may be two more coming out this or next year. You can play with 2, 3 or 4. I hope this helps.

I'd like to see the classic, standard backgammon included please. Obviously it's well known and catered for elsewhere online, but it would be nice to have some games on the go in the same Yucata environment. Thanks.

Works well at every players count.
Not too long and quite straightforward, but it's not so easy to win and maximize your moves.
