Old games, bad games, games dressed up with a well-known IP. These are the games that get sent down to my dad's holiday house so that someone might fall into the trap of playing them. That's what holidays are for, right?
Honestly, I like revisiting some of these; it's like seeing an old friend. Some are total garbage though.

What stuff have you got (or seen) at holiday houses?

I got this one for my 8th birthday. I loved the movie (and I was actually really surprised by how good the new one was too).
Sadly, the gameplay is not so good. There's needless take-that mechanisms, and a possible all-lose ending that I'm not too keen on.
Reading about the threats through the viewfinder thing is pretty cool though.

Everyone likes Harry Potter, right?
Answer hundreds of questions all based on just the first book in the series correctly to win charm cards. Get 7 (I think) different ones and you can go to your common room.
Even if you're really good at the questions, there's take-that mechanisms which are hard to block, certain events that can take you out of the game for up to three turns, and after all of that, you could have way more charm cards than everyone else, but they're all the same card, so no win for you.
I'm all for finding artificial balance in trivia games to make them more accessible, but in this case, it just extends the game needlessly.

This one has been put on the very top shelf so kids can't find it.
A friend bought it for me as a joke birthday present. We played it once, and it didn't go down all that well.
Think about your group of friends. Is there one person who's maybe a little bit more promiscuous than the rest of you? Maybe you are that person. This game asks you whom (out of all the players) is mostly likely to do a range of personal, relationship, and sex activities, and gives points if you vote with the most commonly selected answer.
This game ended when one friend got frustrated that we kept picking him. Honestly, I didn't always agree that it should be him, but it's just good game-sense to stick with the winning strategy. What a dumb game.

You could put this down to our group playing it wrong, but I think if every question is going to be around the same sort of topic, you're going to get a lot of similar answers.

Someone wrote drinking rules on each block, which is pretty fun to play. Some of the rules are just one word, like "DRINK" (easy to understand), but I don't know what some of them refer to (what does "LETTERS" mean as a drinking rule?).

Ooooh boy.
I used to love this game. As an adult, it's a dumpster-fire of a game.
You need to collect the 6 items for going to school (robes, wands, etc.), but the shops only have enough stock for one less than the number of players. Cue players stealing, complaining, getting randomly stuck in Knockturn Alley, and finally using Floo Powder to win. There's no way to strategise, not many ways to protect your collected items, and a spurious exchange-rate for wizard money (you should be able to buy everything you need for about 4.24 Galleons, but instead, you need exactly 4 Galleons, 4 Sickles, and 4 Knuts, never mind how many gold coins you actually have. I guess wizards don't know how to make change as they didn't ever study maths)

I actually like this one. It's frustrating, sure, especially when you can't get any of your pieces onto the board to actually start the game, but everyone is kind of on the same footing.

Technically what we have at the house is "SEA BATTLE", but you get the idea. Do people still buy Battleship, or does it just sort of appear at pubs and holiday houses?

There's a few plastic marbles missing from this one, so I dunno why it hasn't been thrown out. The weight of the little balls is probably important, so we can't just put any old marbles in.
Still, I really like the idea of this one. You can go all-in on a race, but still mightn't win. Gambling is fun.

I think the most fun part of this was just reading the descriptions for each player's character.
The game itself encourages you to buy paintings, but given the spread of values, it's never really worth going higher than about 600,000 in a bid, so in the end the winner is whoever inherited the most paintings for free, or landed on the space that lets you mitigate forgeries.
I'm not against auctioning games; I've heard Modern Art and Ra are both fantastic auctioning games - maybe I need to try one of those?

We get pretty rude with this one when you roll particular letters at the start.
This game is actually really good to crack open once in a while, so I'm very happy for it to stay at the house.

I've actually owned 3 different Fluxx sets and got rid of them at various times.
It's so easy to teach and play, but it's just too darn unpredictable. For some that might be a selling point, but it's too much for me.

"Wow, that one only went for 2 minutes. I didn't feel like I got to do much. Maybe we'll squeeze in one more game before we play something else?" *45-60 minutes later* "Yeah, let's just put this away..."

It will always be "Cluedo" to me in Australia.
The lead pipe is missing; instead we have a blunt nail.
The rope is missing; instead we have a bit of string.
Also somehow there's two copies of the Rev. Green card. I really don't know how that happened. If we're not careful during setup, he could be guilty but with an airtight alibi.

A classic.

Honorable mention:

I took this one to the holiday house, but then realised that leaving a box with a large swastika on it might not be the most inviting thing to see when you're on holiday with your family.
Now it's in a cupboard at home away from all the other games.
