'Official' UK Games Expo 2018 No Ship Maths Trade
- Rob HarrisUnited Kingdom
16/05/18 UPDATE: GAME SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED - PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR WANT LISTS
This maths trade list is now closed and I've turned on wantlist submissions in the OLWLG. Apologies for the slight delay.
This means that no more items or comments can be added to the list, but your wantlist can now be submitted via OLWLG.
Login to the OLWLG, use stage 3 to select possible trades and then stage 4 to check them against your own items.
All discussions should be on the UK Games Expo 2018 No Ship Maths Trade Discussion Thread. Feel free to ask questions about the OLWLG or anything else on the discussion thread. I'll try and help as much as possible.
**When submitting your wantlist remember to press the green 'Submit your Lists here' tab in step 4 to finalise your wantlist. This will generate a geekmail giving you a summary of your wantlist.***
If you have any problems or questions about wantlist submitting or dummy protection or anything else, please feel free to geekmail me.
Please make sure you've submitted a wantlist by Tuesday 22nd May 2018 at 22:00 UK time or your items won't be traded.
Thank you for your GG tips. After using the list randomiser at www.random.org the GG lottery winner of 38.5 GG is ragados. The remaining quarter 19.25 GG goes to JeffyJeff for the excellent OLWLG.
Please remember to tip JeffyJeff for his work on the OLWLG, if you can. You can do this on the OLWLG front-page.
Back for the 9th year running - it's the UK Games Expo 2018 No Ship Maths Trade!
The UK Games Expo 2018 is an annual convention showcasing historical miniatures, boardgames, role playing games, collectable card games and computer games to be held in Birmingham on the 1st-3rd June 2018.
Quick detail (Read guidelines below for further explanation)
Maths trades are a great way to swap your old games. No-ship maths trades are even better because you get to meet your fellow traders and save on postage costs.
Please note this is a no ship maths trade for those attending the UK Games Expo 2018. The intention is that all trading will take place at the convention to avoid shipping costs. In order to participate in this maths trade you MUST be going to the UK Games Expo 2018, or be able to send your games via a proxy.
IMPORTANT: Charity Donation.
When the results of the maths trade are in, participants are requested to donate £1 for each successfully traded item to the officially chosen Expo charity, which is Beanstalks, a charity to help children with literacy problems. Last year, we raised £220 for the Children with Cancer Fund.
(This maths trade will follow a similar format to the successful trades of the last few years. Don't worry if you are new to maths trades, there are lots of resources on BGG and I am happy to help as much as possible.)

Meetup at UK Games Expo to exchange trades: The UKGE have arranged for the stage in Hall2 to be available for the maths trade exchanges at 10am on each day of the show.
Please read the guidelines for this Maths Trade
1. This is a no ship maths trade for the UK Games Expo 2018. Anyone is allowed to participate, but must be present at the convention to trade/ exchange. (Or a proxy must be present).
2. There is no list cap; therefore, you can submit an unlimited number of items. If there is something you really hope to see someone post; please list it in the [geeklist=]Request Geeklist[/geeklist].
3. OLWLG (JeffyJeff's program) will be used. Participants are required to use it. (Please remember to tip JeffyJeff some GG for his support). Please feel free to ask questions in the discussion thread if you are new to the OLWLG.
4. Traders (those trading away games) and receivers (those getting the games) are highly recommended to contact each other and set up their own time and location to trade/receive games. It is useful to exchange mobile telephone numbers so that you can find each other at Expo.
5. SHIPPING SHALL BE PAID BY THE ABSENT PARTY.
In the event that you cannot make it to the UK Games Expo due to unforeseen circumstances or you are not able to meet up, then you will be required to ship the packages to the other person. The cost of the shipping rates will be fully on the person who could not be at the UK Games Expo or who missed the agreed trade time. In other words, if the trader is not at the convention or cannot meet up, then they will pay for shipping. If the receiver cannot get to the UK Games Expo or cannot meet up, they pay the shipping. If you both miss it, shipping will be split.
Sweeteners are required to be listed using the GAMEID formatting (Example: Coloretto; to do this: [ G A M E I D = XXXX ] minus the spaces). To find the Game ID simply search for the game and at the right hand side of the games page will be listed the Game ID. For example, Coloretto's Game ID is 5782. If you don't use this format your sweeteners won't show up in the OLWLG properly.
Do NOT include links to other game's BGG page in your entry unless you are actually including them as a sweetener. If you include a link to a game in your description, it will show up in the OLWLG you will be required to ship that game.
7. ADDING "Pick X number of games" ITEMS.
If you are offering a Pick X number of games from a list you are required to list it as Outside the Scope of BGG (Game ID: 23953), Miscellaneous Game Accessory (Game ID: 5985) or Miscellaneous Game Merchandise (Game ID: 22104) and must include the +altname+ Pick X -altname- in the description. Use of the +altname+ brief description -altname- will only work if one of these is selected as the main item, and will not work for sweeteners. Therefore if you are allowing a person to pick from multiple sweeteners and are including a specific game; you are required to listed it as Outside the Scope of BGG (Game ID: 23953), Miscellaneous Game Accessory (Game ID: 5985) or Miscellaneous Game Merchandise (Game ID: 22104) and must include the +altname+ GAME NAME + Pick X -altname-.
8. NON-GAME RELATED ENTRIES.
Non-game entries must be added as "Outside the Scope of BGG" (game id 23953), "Miscellaneous Game Accessory" (game id 5985) or "Miscellaneous Game Merchandise" (game id 22104). Then in the text box use the following tags and format: +altname+ your brief description of your item -altname-
(This means that the description of your item must be placed between the +altname+ and -altname- tags otherwise it won't show up properly on the OLWLG.)
If you are offering an expansion for which there is no entry in BGG (for instance expansion cards handed out at Essen) and NOT the base game, please use "Miscellaneous Game Accessory" to help avoid confusion.
Also please specify how monetary transactions will be made (e.g. cheque, Paypal, etc).
9. MONEY AND GEEKGOLD ARBITRAGE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
In other words, trying to trade your 20GBP for someone else's 30GBP is prohibited. If such a "trade" shows up in the trade loops, the list will be edited removing all of the offender's items from the maths trade.
10. CASH VALUE TRADES
Traders accepting cash value trades must pay the BGG 3% commission fees for a sale, so this must go through the BGG marketplace. The easiest way to do this is for the person receiving the payment to create a Geek Market listing (Miscellaneous Game Accessory is a good default) and have someone (like the person sending the cash) buy it.
11. DELETING ITEMS IS NOW ALLOWED (Edited with thanks to enoon)
Deletions and edits of items are now allowed during the submission window. If you are editing an item in a way that would reduce its value to the receiver, please delete the original and add a new item instead.
Please drop me a geekmail if you are unsure what to do.
12. PLEASE RESPOND TO COMMENTS.
You are expected to periodically check during the item submission period, and preferably during the want list submission period, to see if anyone has commented on your entries. People often ask questions of items - most commonly because you have forgotten to state a version, language etc. - and you should check in to address such questions in a timely manner should they arise, so that everyone then has the correct information available.
This is a very easy thing to do. Just click on "My Geek", then "Contributions" and finally on "GeekList Items". You will then be able to see your items without having to find them in the trade GeekList along with any comments that people have made.
Alternatively you may choose to subscribe to an item when you post it. This will keep you informed of any further comments.
You will only need to go back to the trade GeekList to make adjustments or answer questions if there were any.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.
All posted items should have the following format so it is clear what is being traded:
Condition: This should be described as accurately as possible. If games are not in shrink, please inventory them to ensure all pieces are present or list out which ones are missing. Do not assume all pieces are there!
Language: Language of the item / language independence of components.
Edition/Publisher: The edition and/or publisher of the item.
Comments: Any misc. comments about the item.
Attending: Which days Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday you will be attending the convention. (So traders can coordinate a meeting.)
UK Games Expo starts on Friday 1st June 9.30am and ends Sunday 3rd June 4pm.
Offer submission will run from Friday 27th April-Wednesday 16th May 2018.
Want list submission will run from Wednesday 16th-Tuesday 22nd May 2018.
Results will hopefully be posted on Wednesday 23rd May 2018.
Other useful information
Special notes: (With thanks to Craw-daddy.)
(A) The word of the trade moderator is final.
(B) The deadline for submission of wantlists will be strictly enforced.
(C) Please ensure that you use duplicate protection in the OLWLG as trade results will not be rerun for the lack of using duplicate protection.
I will use TradeMaximizer version 1.3 with duplicate protection. (SEED=555, ITERATIONS=500, ALLOW-DUMMIES, REQUIRE-COLONS, REQUIRE-USERNAMES)

Bring & Buy:
In the event that you don't manage to trade an item, please consider entering it into the Bring & Buy at the UK Games Expo. 10% of the sale price of goods will be taken as commission and given to charity. The system is computerised and works very well. Details at the Expo website.
Geekgold contributions to this list:
One quarter of all geekgold contributed to this list (and the want list) will be given to JeffyJeff, for his fine contributions that make maths trades like this easier (i.e. for developing the OLWLG).
One half of geekgold contributions will be given to one person, chosen at random, from all those who contribute at least 0.5 geekgold to this list.
The remainder will go towards whistleblower's geekgold auction fund.
