This is a list of RPGs that I am interested in running/playing with my friends in Advance After Combat No offense is intended to non-members but I am not looking to run public games, just looking to use this geeklist as a way to gauge interest in the different games that interest me. If you are a guild member and see anything that interests you, leave a comment in any games you might want to play in. In each game I will give a general idea of my expectations as far as number of sessions etc.

Sessions will be 2-3 hours in length. Usually starting at 9:00 PM Eastern. I use Roll20 as a virtual tabletop and Skype/Discord for audio communication. I would plan on recording sessions and releasing them as part of Alcoholic Adventure Cabal podcast feed.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law.

Numenera is a rules light, science fantasy game set 1 billion years in the Earth's future. 8 prior civilizations (not all human) have risen and then fallen. It is now the 9th Age. In many ways the world seems medieval at first glance but the detritus of 8 prior advanced civilizations litters the landscape and has permeated the very building blocks of life. Characters adventure in order to discover the many wonders of the Ninth World.

I started a Numenera One Shot last summer when we had a gap in our normal World War Cthulhu game. Everyone was enjoying the game so we kept playing after the first adventure was complete. I already have four players for this game. The characters have really developed and there is great chemistry between the players AND the characters.

Numenera 2.0 is coming out next month. The core game is the same but they are adding some rules to help the players carve out their own place in the world and build a better tomorrow. I am going to discuss with the current players the possibility of adding new players to the game and shifting play towards this "build a better tomorrow" aspect.

If we expand the game, let me know if you are interested in joining. I anticipate that this would be an ongoing campaign with sessions approximately once a month and potentially some play being handled through email communication between play sessions.

Dungeon Crawl Classics is an homage to the origins of Dungeons and Dragons and the Sword and Sorcery fiction that inspired the original editions. The game has an old school art direction and a gonzo magic system. PC death is a real thing that players need to embrace.

DCC is a "thing" in the guild right now. We have three separate games started and are setting them in a loosely defined, shared world. I am part way through a character funnel adventure. When I finish that I am going to run some off the shelf adventures. There will not be a campaign per se and I am fine with characters from any of the other games showing up in my adventures as long as the player commits to finishing the adventure.

You used to uncover secrets, or maybe kill
to keep them. You used to serve your country
in the shadows, doing things — or stopping
things — that couldn’t be shown in daylight
or on the evening news.
Then you stopped. Maybe you got tired,
or maybe you got burned, or maybe you got
out while you could.
But you didn’t go into the daylight.
Not just yet. You stayed in the shadows, in
Europe’s deniable underground networks of
crime and conflict, but you did it on your
terms. You did a few ops, and you asked fewer
questions. You worked for money in secret
accounts, and for people you didn’t know.
But they weren’t people. It turned out
they couldn’t be shown in daylight or on
the evening news either. Because they were vampires.

And now you know. And they know that
you know.
Vampires exist. What can they do? Who
do they own? Where is safe? How much is
legend, and what is the truth? You don’t
know those answers yet. So you’d better start
asking questions and picking targets. You
have to trace the bloodsuckers’ operations,
penetrate their networks, follow their trail,
and target their weak points. Because if you
don’t hunt them, they will hunt you. And
they will kill you.
Or worse.
You must mount your own shadow war,
on a secret terror that only you know exists.
Stay alert, and stay awake. It’s going to be a long night.

Blades is a child of the PbTA family of rpgs. Characters are members of a criminal gang who are struggling to rise to power in a Steam/Gas punk setting. Lot's of cool rpg tech going on in Blades but the most notable is probably the fact that the gang has a character sheet for lack of better term. The gang itself has attributes that the players can advance as they seek to rise from zeros to , well not heroes, but certainly prominence in the criminal world.

Think The Wire or Peaky Blinders and you are getting a sense of the types of stories this game will want to tell.

Actually this is the Gumshoe game set in the Delta Green universe. It is set in the 60s when Delta Green was still sanctioned. It covers a lot more than just Vietnam, although honestly, who wouldn’t want to go tear assing around the Nam looking for Elder God shit to blow up.

Not sure if is the correct version or not. Whatever is coming out from FFG later this year is what I am interested in. I have not played any of the FFG games that use their narrative dice system so this could be a glorious disaster.

L5R is probably the setting that has interested me the most but I have experienced the least. never really played the card game in a meaningful way and never played the RPG. Something about Samurai with a dash of the fantastical is very appealing to me.

Hopefully we will get some Roll20 support so it won’t be a huge pain to play online.

Apocalypse World meets Westeros or Joe Abercrombie. The game focus on poltics, intrigue and inter-personal conflict in a fantasy setting. There is a strong session zero where the players are involved in creating the setting, in particular the mythos or underpinnings of the current political order (How was the Iron Throne created type stuff)

I have not got the rules yet but I would anticipate playing a first game with a finite arc of a few sessions and then see whether the game merits longer term exploration.
