Tucson RinCon 2018 No-Ship Math Trade
Official discussion thread for RinCon 2018 No-Ship Math Trade
Math Trade Overview:
All trades are intended to be made in-person at the RinCon game convention being held at the Sheraton Hotel and Suites on Sept 28-30, 2018. Additional details for the event are available at http://rincongames.com. With that in mind, there will be NO SHIPPING COSTS associated with any item in this trade. If you would like to participate in this trade but are not registered to attend the event, you will at least be expected to go to the hotel during the event to fulfill your trade obligations (you will not need to pay registration simply to go in and complete your trades). If you make other arrangements with your trade partner to meet before or after the event once the results are posted, that's fine, but please do not assume others will make arrangements to meet you elsewhere if you know you cannot attend the event. You are also welcome to pre-arrange for someone you know who is attending the event make your trades for you if you are not able to attend.
Event Meetup Time: We will have a planned meetup time to exchange games at RinCon on Saturday, Sept 29 from 1:00-1:30pm in the main RinCon lobby (near the registration desk just inside the Northwest entrance of the Sheraton). You are still welcome to exchange games outside of this scheduled time, but this should provide an easy way for everyone to settle their trades in one place (and finish just before setting up for the flea market!!)
Update note: If you were here early, I originally had the meetup location in the upstairs lobby, but was informed that won't work this year since they're using that area to sell food.

OK - some simple rules - please take a few minutes to read them:
-Anything from BGG, RPGG or VGG
-GeekGold with a minimum of 200 per entry (lower denominations can be listed as sweeteners).
-Non-game items which would generally appeal to individuals interested in gaming. Please see the "Outside the Scope" instructions below for listing an item not in the BGG database.
-Gift Certificates valued $10 or more. (see 'Cash-Equivalent' note below) Unless specifically stated otherwise, GCs for "online game stores" will be interpreted as any retailer that stocks any kind of game, including Amazon, Steam, Target, etc. As this is a local trade, feel free to include Gift Certificates to local game retailers, such as Amazing Discoveries, Heroes and Villains, Games & Gadgets, Isle of Games, etc. Bookman's credit slips are also allowed.
-Cash or paypal payments in a specified amount. (see 'Cash-Equivalent' note below)
Important Note Regarding Cash-Equivalent Items: Recent Math Trade rules have been implemented which require all cash equivalent items (cash, paypal, gift certs, store credit) to go through the BGG Marketplace since these qualify as a 'sale' and are subject to BGG's 3% commission. Additional details are available here: Cash Value Trades in Math Trades (and how to make a geek market listing for them). The short version is that if you receive one of these items in trade, you will need to create a generic BGG marketplace listing for the trade item value, which your trade partner can buy. You will then owe BGG 3% of the value.
To list an item, add an item to the trade GeekList. Each listing should contain at minimum the edition (i.e., publisher and version, if more than one), language and condition of all items. "Edition pictured" is NOT an acceptable description, as it is unclear in the OLWLG.
If you'd like to add anything that does not have an XGG entry or otherwise use an alternate name, use a board game entry and select Outside the Scope of BGG (id=23953). In the description for your item, include a title, formatted like this: +altname+Pick 2 of 5 Games!-altname- You MUST use this if your main item is a portion of an item with its own listing; for example, if you've got just the Scout part of Carcassonne: King & Scout as the Geeklist item, list it under Outside the Scope, not the K&S entry. (Please read this last part in the spirit of the rule; I hope it's clear that I'm not talking about CCGs or games that are missing a single piece.)
To add sweeteners to an item, use the Insert Geek Link dropdown. Do NOT add links to any items unless you're including them as a sweetener.
For any item that is not new in shrink, you must inventory it, and you will be responsible for any missing pieces not clearly identified in the item description.
You may not edit an item in any way that would be construed as a downgrade (worse condition, removing a sweetener, etc.). Should you need to downgrade a listing, simply delete and then re-list the item, or change the old listing to an Outside the Scope entry that references the new item number.
You are required to subscribe to each of your items in the trade in case anyone has any questions about them.
Gift Certificate and Geek Gold arbitrage is not allowed. Arbitrage is defined as trading a Gift Certificate for a larger Gift Cert (such as $25 for $30) or Geek Gold for more Geek Gold (such as 200GG for 300GG). Gift Cert for Geek Gold trades are allowed, and vice versa. You are also allowed to trade Gift Certs for other Gift Certs of equal value of another type (such as a $20 Amazon GC for a $20 Red Lobster GC).
I reserve the right to remove any entries at my discretion.
Only mistakes made by me in my capacity as moderator will invalidate the results. If anyone (myself included) checks the wrong box in Step 4, that's very unfortunate, but the trade must go on.
Have fun, happy trading, and see you at the event!
