2018 High Score! Still not a game-a-day Ah well. Got Castellion out one evening and forgot that I liked it. Must play it in september as well. Lots of new games - Amyitis, Nusfjord, Santa Maria, Yedo, Onitama - and a new variant for Orléans and a new expansion with Lorenzo.

New Game of the Month: Oef. Good gamees this month. Not sure if Amyitis will stay. Yedo and Onitama were cool. Nusfjord is hard, but I liked it. Santa Maria wins - even though it might be the ugliest game I've ever played.

August was a fair month. Not a ton of games played, but enjoyable games. It’s kind of weird for me to have a bunch of games I only played once considering I own all but one of these.
What's It To Ya?, though only played once, is probably the best of the 2 games. My neighbor was kind enough to pick it up when she was in Korea earlier this summer and I was just able to play it last night with a couple we are really good friends with. It was funny that we never had complete matches with husband and wife but we did have complete matches between me and the one friend that I work with. Pretty fun, funny and quick “party” game. Looking forward to playing it more.
Greed was my other new game and we played it 6 times with 2 players and one time with 4. It’s certainly better with 4 because some of how some of the cards work.
Yesterday I also played Statis Pro Baseball (the only game up here I don’t own) and it was quite a game. I was playing the visiting 1983 SF Giants at Dodger stadium. I got a 2 run lead in the fourth inning, but my pitcher Hamakker was giving up a bunch of hits and had to be replaced. McGaffigan comes in and gives up a bunch of runs. It was 4-2 then as Steve Sax was getting a bunch of hits and stealing bases for the Dodgers. I did manage the bases loaded with no outs late in the game, but it wasn’t to be and I didn’t manage another run. Fair result in the end. I was only 1 year old then, but apparently the early 80s Giants were pretty terrible.
Otherwise we have a bunch of the games we like to play. It was great to play Stockpile again. I thought I had my first win in 5 attempts only to lose by a few thousand dollars. Heartbreak!
An extremely high play count for a month without special events. How? In addition to my regular games at the gaming club, i had a few sessions with a gamer family, two of these all day long. These added a lot of plays; in addition, that was the main reason for the plays of dusted games.
For my entry, i choose Fast Forward: FEAR. Technically, i played 24 hands of this very short game in 70 minutes. But i decided not to inflate my play count with this number, and count sessions instead.
A friend is explaining rules on a board game evening in a shop in another town. Sometimes, he brought games to our sessions that were new to him to learn the rules; some recent, some older. Thats the main source of the "new to me" games. In addition, a number of new games (some not recent releases) appeared at the club.

Thinking about my next move.
So, if my only options are these, then I shall...
August was a pretty good month, going to 144 plays, which is the third best month of the year so far.
The winner is Sentinels of the Multiverse, as it made a strong comeback after the (very late) arrival of the OblivAeon expansion - the new characters are great! Though we still haven't played the OblivAeon itself.
Sentinels of the Multiverse x33
Loopin' Chewie x29 - my little cousin is crazy about this one and don't let we stop playing
Elevenses for One x10 - is a decent game, but with limited replay. I gave it away
6 nimmt! x5 - another one that is doing well with the cousins
Zombie Dice x5 - almost forgotten, it also has found a place in the sunday plays with the cousins
Catch the Moon x4 - still the filler of choice to close game nights on Friday
Pocket Landship x4 - from my recent PnP forays, this one is the second best and is still going
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation x3 - two wins and a loss
Maquis x3 - I'm trying the harder difficulties, but simply can`t manage to win
Mini Rogue x3 - this one is the best small PnP
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Base Set x3 - we got back to start a new campaign. I wanted to keep going from where we left, though, as the game, specially in its earlier scenarios, isn`t much interesting
Talisman (Revised 4th Edition) x3 - what an awful game
Lost Cities x2 -
All the rest with 1 play.
Battle Line with one of the cousins
Downforce: quite good racing and betting game
Through the Desert: out of the dust
Board Game: Star Realms

[Average Rating:7.62 Unranked]
It was a busy month especially for my wife but somehow we also got quite a few games in as well, a grand total of 51 plays from 13 different games. Actually, I do know how, because a big part was a return for Star Realms, partly on the back of the kickstarter copy of Star Realms: Frontiers arriving and playing that reminded us how good it is at the "tired but want to play something" slot of games. And it hit the milestone of 400 plays for me this month.
Other highlights - we started to explore Santorini more, playing all of the Simple Gods at least once each (and Pan multiple times because I found the satyr hard to beat). And we got first plays of both Orléans and Dominant Species, 2 games that have been on my want-to-play list for a long time.
9 Star Realms x29 (404 all-time)
7 Santorini x9 (14 all-time)
8 Azul x2 (23 all-time)
8 NMBR 9 x2 (71 all-time)
5 Alhambra: The Dice Game (2 all-time)
