If I ignore the fact that this game uses mostly black tiles, we've got quite an interesting coop game here where you play explorers trying to escape a dark cave - that tries to kill you with pretty much every step you take.

created a nice tool: The Aggregator!

klkitchens wrote:
As of now, only August has been added: http://pnp.onesuponagame.com/Detail/Geeklist/244170/august-2...

I am subscribed to the subscription thread already and will add September when it's created as well as backfill all the lists from January 2010. I'll do these in batches to not overwhelm the BGG API of course, but hope to have them all done this weekend.

Hope you find the Aggregator useful and if you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks!
Totally worth checking out!

Board Game: The Wild Nature (fan expansion for Potion Explosion)
Just made the PnP final components (v1.0.1) of The Wild Nature.

The guys from Horrible Games were very nice and allowed me to upload it as a fan made expansion to Potion Explosion (last month I made it with prototype components).

After assembling the components, and as cutting 30+1 leaf was not that easy I added borders so they can be cut like tokens for easier assembly.
All files needed: rules and components v1.0.2 uploaded and available trough its page The Wild Nature (fan expansion for Potion Explosion)

For this one you will just need 12 green marbles and the 2 pages of the components.

Plz enjoymeeple

Set up for 4 players

After playing this PNP and the enchantress expansion PNP, I had ideas for my own PNP expansion. I've got a new character, 10 new dev cards, 4 replacement tiles, and 10 scenarios at the moment. I could use playtesters.

I built Root from the public print and play files.
I used Scrabble tiles for all of rectangular cardboard chits and sections of a 3/4" dowel for the round cardboard chits. Unfortunately, I only had centimeter cubes to replace the games meeples.

This game is an entry in the 2018 Solitaire PnP contest on BGG. The designer made one of my favorites, Enki Des, a few years ago (entry #35 on this geek list can be found HERE). When I saw The Fall of the Vizulli I knew that I needed to give it a shot, so I took some time to put some graphics to it.

The player is a spell caster wielding rune magic to avenge his/her family’s death and rid the world of the Vizulli, a corrupt body of spell casters.
The game is played by connecting dots across the spell book - I plan on cutting down a piece of polypropylene to cover the board and using dry erase markers. I played the first round and found it quite enjoyable.

Yesterday I built a game called Below Mars. It took a few hours to build but I got it done! (Cross posted to my pnp geeklist [IMAGE HEAVY] and the SGOYT)

This is one of the games I was assigned to playtest as a volunteer in the 2018 Solo Game Design Contest. I was really pleased to be assigned this game because I love how fabulous the artwork is and how beautiful the game looks- it's striking!

Thus, I couldn't resist making this with quality components. I just had to do it!

Here's a photo of all its glory! The camera is angled to prevent glare:
From gallery of lovemyfire

Not perfect, but pretty dang good!

My printer ran out of blue toner when I printed the Martian Tool tiles (green ones) so they turned out to be a different shade of green than the original files. Thankfully I hadn't printed the board yet, so it got the new blue toner when I replaced the cartridge.

Everything was printed on label paper, spray sealed, and attached to magazine board. I made the tiles single board thickness by attaching the fronts and backs to the same board. It took some time to line up the pages but overall it worked well.

I'm super pleased with the quality of the components. The thickness for the tiles is just right as double layers would have been too thick and would have used up a lot more resources.

Because, wow, there area a LOT of tiles!
From gallery of lovemyfire

But oh so lovely! meeple
From gallery of lovemyfire

The dark background color is off on several tiles due to the aforementioned blue ink toner problem.

Here's start of game:
From gallery of lovemyfire

And end of game:
From gallery of lovemyfire

I died by the horror that crawled into my suit and choked me to death. wowsoblue

I've only played one game so far as I'm waiting for a few answers to some questions before I playtest it again. Below Mars is a unique puzzle type game with a great theme and story. I especially like how the gameboard "simulates the User Interface of your Mars explorer suit". Yep, awesome!

See the WIP thread for more details on this game.

This was a Kickstarter some time back and I picked up the PnP recently. Through a series of unlikely events I slowly acquired a bunch of totally appropriate materials for the build. Now that I reflect, my mother was the driving force behind the two main, and totally rad, components. She is a great lady

I glued the final piece today and gave the game a spin. It's right up my ally as an optimization puzzle. The game is available for sale if you aren't feeling the crafty impulse, and I recommend it for solo play.

Cost: Free

Build Difficulty: Medium, there are 53 Power cards to print and cut (sleeved, no backs required). You can get the build done in a couple of hours, if you don't overthink the optional tokens. Since I always do, constructing the game took way longer than it should have.

From gallery of DrHenryArmitage

Played: Yes

Notes: (cross-posted from the PnP Facebook group)

First play of Aleksandar Saranac’s Power Surge: Cyber Security Academy. Result: I lost to the Practice Doll Nemesis after surviving 8 turns. But I was able to vanquish six or so Avatars, and was able to reduce the Nemesis from 20 Health to 5 Health. I still had 3 Health left (lower left) at game’s end, but I ran out of cards in my both my Draw and Recycle decks, which is a Loss condition.

Verdict: this is a top quality, challenging combat game, already in practically finished form! It’s reminiscent of Aeon’s End, in that you fight one big bad which sends out Avatars (aka minions) to fight you. To cause damage to the main Nemesis, you must fight your way through wave after wave of Avatars. Use your cards wisely to deal damage that will not only take out the current Avatar, but punch through to whittle away at the Nemesis’ Health as well. The multi-use Avatar Cards also provide Programming that grants varied buffs and effects to each Avatar, for great variability in tactics that you must deal with and adjust to.

Your Power cards are also multi-use: each one has an Effect that you have the option to use at certain points in a turn. In the Attack Phase, you must combine and discard two cards to have a chance to dealing damage to the Avatar and Nemesis. But doing so depletes your supply of cards, so you must strategically balance your attacks with judicious use of Powers that will replenish your supply of cards.

Great card combat game with tough decisions to make. This game is challenging and fun! Great work, Aleksandar! I loved it and look forward to playing again to get my revenge on the...Practice Doll! Womp womp!

From gallery of DrHenryArmitage

First game I ever constructed inserts and tuckboxes for, so it must mean that I intend to keep it for the long term...

The Thrifty Collector is number four out of five of my "game children" that I've created. This game was the first I entered into the 2018 Solo Game Design Contest.

After WEEKS of being ignored as I focused on the fifth game child (and after lots of whining and begging from the fourth) I finally gave this lonely game the royal treatment! Wish I would have thought to use that to create a pun with Royal Espionage. [Okay, sorry, sorry, back to you!]

I LOVE the colors, so pretty! heart

Rainbows!!

From gallery of lovemyfire

When face down the edges of the deck are the background color as the core cardstock is the same color. BUT what's really cool is when you flip the deck face up and fan the cards a bit you see the rainbow colors! OOOH!

From gallery of lovemyfire

Of course I had to complete the build by making a custom box for my beautiful game child! I messed up my calculations for the lid and it was too big, so I made a second which was perfect, and now the box has three parts as I couldn't toss the first lid and it worked great on top of the second lid.

From gallery of lovemyfire

It was super fun to make another quality build for one of my games. And now it has stopped nagging at me for attention... well, mostly.

Here's The Thrifty Collector's WIP thread.

(More details and photos of this build are in my pnp geeklist which I just updated to hopefully improve the load time.)

The Herald is one of my favorites and has been for some time. I decided to give it the royal treatment and do a full graphic overhaul. The original is beautiful in its starkness; I wanted this redesign to be a little more space-y and a lot more huge.

Several months ago I purchased a pnp copy of Birds of a Feather (from their website) and yesterday I finally built it!

The pnp comes with cards (including backs), score cards, booklet formatted rulebook, and a box cover (top and bottom).

First, I reorganized the cards into my favorite 8 card layout, printed onto 24lb linen paper, spray sealed, folded, glued onto 65lb cardstock, cut, and cropped corners.

I was using a new acrylic spray to seal in the ink and make the paper more slick but unfortunately this expensive product* is NOT better than the cheaper Mod Podge brand I've been using. It did not make the cards more slick but less as they have more friction to them. Not only that but it spit-up on my cards and marked a few of them! angry

*Minwax brand but different type than the one I already tried. I read somewhere on BGG that it was good after a person did tests with three different types. Nope, not good enough for me. soblue

I also messed up when cutting them out and the backs are slightly off center. I should have edited the back image and filled in the white area to a solid blue as the rest of the card, then this mistake wouldn't be haunting my pnp sensibilities. blush

ANYWAY, the box turned out great (has a few minor issues but not bad).

I laminated the extra large score sheets (found on their website, the ones in the pnp are smaller).

I'm disappointed with the cards and unsure how they will play, I may just have to sleeve them if they don't slide well enough. However, the glue I used to attach them to the cardstock seems to be holding well. I did a few riffle shuffles and none have separated, yet. We'll see how well they hold up.

Photos below.

Love the box art:

Owlbear promo card not included in the pnp, I added that myself.

The artwork is gorgeous! Here are some of my favorites:

Cost: free download from the Greater Than Games site.

Build Difficulty: medium heavy: asymmetric town game board, building tiles, various player and AI boards, all mounted either on 2mm greyboard or FedEx envelope cardboard core. Supplemented with red (brick), yellow (food) and brown (wood) plastic cubes, a couple of ship tokens per player, and a couple of meeples per player. Plus fake money to represent $1 and $5 coins. A fun build that took me three nights to complete.

Played: yes, this is a fun worker placement, town building game with a dash of pick up and deliver. Will play again soon. Robust solo mode with four different AI captains to play against.

Notes: the print and play is a complete game, but lacks certain buildings and the artwork.

I threw together a quick and dirty PnP of Tiny Epic Mechs since it's on Kickstarter. I wanted to see if the game length on the description was accurate. My wife and I took 45 minutes to play our first game including a rules explanation so that was pretty good. I won't post pictures since I didn't even bother to mount the paper printouts on anything or even print on card stock. The only improvement. To the black and white files provided was to highlight the credit and energy symbols on the map cards before printing.

54 cards + 2 tracker cards. Nothing fancy in my build, just printed on card stock and sprayed with acrylic. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend -

Cost: $8 for premium PnP (no longer available for purchase)

Build Difficulty: Advanced. 40 Planet cards, 12 Secret Mission Cards, 8 Satellites and Secret Weapons Epansion Cards, all double-sided. Five double-sided player mats, one Control Mat, one Round Tracker mat, six bonus Rogue Galaxy mats, Starting Player token. Seven custom dice need to be constructed. Need to provide 20 ship tokens in five different player colors (four ships per color), five each of Empire, Culture, and Energy tokens.

Played: yes, and I enjoyed it very much! Even playing solo two-handed was a super fun, down-to-the-wire play experience. The lue player edged out the red player, 24-23, after a hard-fought campaign of furious intergalactic expansion. Will be playing this one again very soon. Highly recommended!

SHOWCASE: Tiny Epic Galaxies Premium PnP! My goal with this build was to reproduce the production game as closely as I could. The Planet cards, Secret Mission cards, and Satellites and Super Weapons expansion cards are comprised of two layers of 110lb. card stock, fronts adhered to backs.

The five Galaxy Mats, Control Mat, Round Tracker board, five bonus Rogue Galaxy mats, and Starting Player marker are two layers of 110lb, card stock for front and back images, with a layer of cereal box cardboard as a core (cereal core).

All cards and mats were treated to several coats of Mod Podge Matte Acrylic spray to seal the ink, and to make the cards feel smooth, and shuffle/slide/play more smoothly.

From gallery of DrHenryArmitage

The seven custom dice started as blank white dice, colored black with Sharpie marker. The custom dice face images were provided in the PnP file, printed on label sticker paper, cut and adhered to each dice face.

From gallery of DrHenryArmitage

The five Energy tokens started as natural wooden eurocubes, colored in the five player colors using Sharpie markers, then affixed with the Energy symbol from the custom dice.

The five Empire tokens and five Culture tokens are some kind of med lab styrofoam, colored in the five player colors with Sharpie markers, and labeled with the Culture token image from the custom dice. I hand-drew the Stars (obviously) for the Empire tokens, it’s the one non-professional element of this build, and it’s bugging me!

For the rocket ship tokens, I intend to purchase or make custom rockets in the future. For now, I’m using Parcheesi tokens. They’re a little too big for the purpose, but serviceable for learning to play.

A super fun build! Now to learn and play this awesome game!

Printed this out tonight, started mounting it and cutting things out...only to discover that the tetris pieces in the pnp file are sized larger than the cards with the shapes you are to be covering...sigh. Back to the computer to resize the cards (I am NOT cutting out those tetris pieces a second time - one side of the tetris tile page was NOT set up for ideal cuts. My pieces don't look overly pretty, but I'm not doing them again

File link can be found on the Kickstarter page for the game if anyone else is interested.

Fun, short, Tetris like game to open or close a night with. Starts really slow but by the end you have a number of options...scored 26 in my first solitaire game...no idea if that’s any good or not
