Hello Gamehole Con 2018 attendees!!

I've decided to blatantly steal the idea for a geek list to help people coordinate games in the open gaming area when they are not playing scheduled games. I went to Origins Game Fair for the first time this year and using this geek list (Origins 2018 - What are you bringing? What are you playing?) managed to get four games scheduled that are normally tough to get to the table with my local game group.

So without further ado I present to you the newly borrowed and rebranded Gamehole Con 2018 What are you bringing? What are you playing? geek list!

Users can add a game to this geek list that they are bringing and want to play and/or teach, and then other users can see what people love and jump into setting up times to play in each item's comments. So here's how this will work ...

* Add an item containing the game you own and want to play, and include specifics such as:
** a description (optional)
** the number of players
** expected play time
** level of experience (including if you're willing to teach),
** where you're setting up if you know (i.e. Open Gaming area, Clarion lobby, etc..)
** anything else you think is important for potential players to know
* Players interested should add a comment for the item, with any details they want
* Item poster tracks folks who've agreed to play in your game entry, so we can all see if a game is full. It's totally okay to offer and plan multiple sessions if you're so inclined
* Indicate what day/time (or block of time) you'd like to set up your game (probably after the schedule of events is posted in April, see note below)
* Work with your players to coordinate a time and place for your game

That's it! As you add games, try to be really fair in your estimation of how much real time is involved in games, including setup, tear down, and possibly waiting for one or more of the other players before you begin. I have set the list to organize by date of item addition.

Running Multiple Times?
Duplicate game entries are okay to add if that's what makes it easier for you as game host, otherwise note additional times in your original entry. Your choice.

Don't see the game you want to play?
If you don't own a game but are hoping someone else does and you'd love to play, add a comment at the bottom of the geek list. Depending on the game, there's a decent chance some one else will have a copy that they'd be happy to add it to the list and get it played.

Here's an example listing for Root ...

Description: John Company attempts to tell the story of the British East India Company from the inside out. Players will steer their dynasties through the company's history, vying for position, power, and prestige. The goal of the game is simple: Use the Company and the Company's trade to secure your place in society back home. To this end, you guide your scions through their careers, exchanging favors for positions in London or plush colonial posts. Players collectively control the Company, facing tough budgetary decisions and conflicting interests. Should a Governor conduct a campaign to expand company holdings or invest in his region's infrastructure? Perhaps the honest tax revenues would be better diverted to expand his summer estate back home...

I’ll tidy this up this entry later.
Conflict of Heroes is one of my favorite tactical wargames (though Combat Commander is pretty great too). I’ll be happy to teach and there are scenarios ranging from 45 minute skirmishes to 3-4 hour battles complete with Tanks, Naval Artillery, snipers and all the other bells and whistles.

Ones I’ll be bringing:
Guadalcanal: Messy infantry heavy battles, with plenty of night attacks, hidden units and a unique Bushido system to model the pressure for the Japanese commander to stick to established doctrine in order to maintain the confidence of his subordinates.

Awakening the Bear: Early War East Front, first in the series. Also includes a firefight generator as well as a good mix of combined arms scenarios.

The Price of Honor: Poland ‘39! Lots of tricky scenarios, with everyone packing a bit less firepower than later in the war. Tankettes, Armored Trains, Cavalry and more!

Description: Root is a game of adventure and war in which players battle for control of a vast wilderness.

Number of players: 2-5 (prefer 3 or 4, have not played with 5th player but willing to)

Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours with teaching

Experience: Beginners and veterans. Willing to teach.
IF you've seen the TV series or read the books, the game is faithful to the theme, but is more about area control than out and out warfare.
Takes about 2-3 hours with teaching another 30 mins

Players:
1. Fred (Dren608)
2. open
3. open
4. open

Date: TBD. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, even Sunday are possible.

Time: TBD

Location: Open gaming
